Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Chapter 387: Teaching Ryan Linden a Good Lesson

  • Next Chapter

Even at the airport today, Ryan Linden had been so sure Nathan would be thrown out.

’Now that things aren’t going the way he imagined, he can’t hold it in anymore?’

Nathan Fawcett found his clownish behavior quite amusing.

Ryan Linden said, "I underestimated you!"

’He’s more patient than I gave him credit for.’

Nathan Fawcett said, "If you have the time, you should be thinking about how you’re going to repay that debt. If you don’t pay it back, you can forget about ever being involved with any company connected to the Linden Group."

Ryan Linden knew just how influential the Linden Group was!

If he was shut out from all professions related to the Linden Group, then he...

...would have nowhere to go!

Ryan Linden said, "Are you trying to back me into a corner? You want me dead, don’t you? If I die, I’ll make sure you don’t get away with it."

Watching him fly into a rage out of humiliation, Nathan Fawcett said, "You should just be grateful you saved Ethan Linden’s life once. That’s the only reason you got a job at the company. When did you start thinking you actually have the skills to be a manager at the Linden Group? And that’s not even all of it. You bet on games—did I force you to do that?"

When he sold his house...

He could have easily paid back the money, but he didn’t!

’A leopard never changes its spots.’

Ryan Linden stared at Nathan Fawcett. "If you hadn’t been pressuring me for the money, I wouldn’t have gambled a second time."

"So it’s my fault, is it?" Nathan Fawcett said. "You’re a real man-child."

He stood before Ryan Linden, looking at him with a mock-concerned expression. "How’s the hand?" he asked.

At his words, Ryan Linden instinctively hid his hand behind his back.

He was still traumatized by Nathan Fawcett cutting his finger last time.

He felt a subconscious fear just seeing Nathan Fawcett. ’What is he planning to do?’

Nathan Fawcett said, "I don’t care what you think of me. For Ethan Linden’s sake, I still have to show you some respect. But... if you don’t clean up your act and keep causing trouble, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"

"Nathan Fawcett, you’re threatening me! You think I’m..."

He started to yell, but when Nathan Fawcett merely raised his eyes, Ryan was so intimidated he lowered his head again.

’Dammit...’

’In the past, when I was dealing with Ethan Linden, I wasn’t scared at all.’

’Even though I suspected he wasn’t the real Ethan Linden, but an impostor.’

’I was never this scared of him back then!’

’Now, for some reason, just looking at Nathan Fawcett makes a bone-deep fear well up inside me!’

Furious, Ryan Linden turned away. He was helpless against Nathan Fawcett, so when he saw Lana Langley standing nearby, he shoved her. "You useless waste of space! You’re no help at all."

Lana Langley hadn’t expected the shove, and her heavy frame tumbled onto a nearby sofa.

Without a backward glance, Ryan Linden stormed out!

Watching this unfold, Nathan Fawcett was reminded of Sean Sutton...

’Those two are exactly alike!’

’Men who are failures outside can only take it out on their families!’

’It’s like their wives are just punching bags for them!’

Nathan Fawcett called out, "Ryan Linden, stop right there!"

Ryan Linden turned back, glared at him, and asked, "What now?"

’If I can’t provoke him, can’t I at least avoid him?’

"Apologize to Lana!" Nathan Fawcett wasn’t about to let him off the hook.

’He’s really made a habit of bullying his own wife!’

’I don’t care what he does to himself, but he can’t be allowed to disgrace the Linden Family!’

Ryan Linden retorted, "What’s it to you? She’s my wife. Is that your business now, too?"

Lana Langley said to Nathan Fawcett, "Um, that’s not necessary, really..."

’Even if Ryan apologizes to me here, he’ll just take it out on me later!’

She had no hope of getting an apology from him!

Nathan Fawcett said, "Ryan Linden, if you don’t come over and apologize right now, I’m not letting this go!"

Ryan Linden walked back over, looked at Nathan Fawcett, and said, "Don’t think I’m afraid of you just because you’re the Family Head now!"

"Since you know I’m the Family Head, then you should also know that anything concerning the Linden Family is my business!"

"You..." Ryan Linden looked at Lana Langley and mumbled, "I’m sorry."

’Making me apologize to this woman is humiliating!’

’She’s just a woman! I’ll have to teach her a lesson later.’

Seeing the look in Ryan’s eyes, Lana Langley’s expression darkened. She glanced at Nathan Fawcett. ’Why did he have to meddle? Isn’t he just trying to stir up trouble between my husband and me?’

Nathan Fawcett said, "Lana, you and the child will stay here tonight."

Hearing this, Ryan Linden looked at Nathan Fawcett in disbelief. "By what right?"

Nathan Fawcett stared at him. "If you don’t like it, go take it up with my grandfather."

The old man had just declared that everyone was to listen to Nathan Fawcett from now on and not to bother him with trivialities. Ryan had just disgraced himself in front of the patriarch; wouldn’t it be even more humiliating to go to him now?

At this, Ryan Linden turned to Nathan Fawcett and said, "Nathan Fawcett, are you targeting me? Now you’re even meddling in my family’s business."

"You’ve noticed, have you?" Nathan Fawcett retorted. "After all the ridiculous things you’ve done, I’m not allowed to target you? Yes, I am targeting you. What are you going to do about it?"

Ryan Linden gritted his teeth and stormed away.

Seeing this, Lana Langley wanted to follow him.

Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "Did I say you could go?"

Lana Langley spun around, glaring at Nathan Fawcett. "Do you have any idea what you’re doing? You’re going to get me killed!"

Nathan Fawcett said, "He’s only like this today because you enable him!"

"..."

Since Nathan Fawcett wouldn’t let Lana Langley and the child leave, they ended up staying.

Anne Sutton arrived from home with Ian, and Nathan Fawcett was waiting for them at the door.

Anne Sutton and Ian got out of the car. Nathan Fawcett walked over, glanced at her, and said, "Thanks for coming."

"It’s fine," Anne Sutton said. "It was no trouble. Have you eaten yet?"

"In a minute. I was just waiting for you and Ian."

Anne Sutton gazed at the brightly lit Linden residence and asked, "Is it crowded?"

"My grandfather is back, so everyone came to see him. You know how it is."

The old man was getting on in years, and no one knew when he might pass away. Everyone wanted to show their filial piety and get on his good side. That way, when he was gone, he might remember them, and they might get a larger share of the inheritance.

Anne Sutton said, "Well, I’ve brought Ian to you, so I’ll be heading back now."

Hearing that she was about to leave, Nathan Fawcett asked, "Why?"

Anne Sutton said, "Your grandfather wanted to see Ian, so I brought him. I should probably stay out of it."

Anne had never met his grandfather and was a little intimidated. "If he sees me, won’t that just make him more upset?"

Nathan Fawcett said, "You have to meet him sooner or later. How are you going to marry me if you don’t?"

"..." Anne Sutton looked at the man before her. Just as she was about to speak, Nathan Fawcett cut in, "Don’t you dare say you don’t want to marry me. Since when did you get so timid? I remember when you came to the Fawcett Family all on your own to take your sister’s place in marrying me. You had plenty of guts back then."

"That was because I had no other choice! Who would want to be that shameless if they had any other option?"

Nathan Fawcett looked at her and said, "You’re not leaving. I want to introduce you to my grandfather."

’I wouldn’t have specifically asked you to come otherwise!’

’This day was bound to come sooner or later!’

’Now that he had formally inherited the Linden Family, marrying and having children was the next step!’
