Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Chapter 389: Ian Sleeps with His Grandfather

  • Next Chapter

"Let’s wait for Ian to come back," Anne Sutton said. "He didn’t get to sit with me today, and now he’s been called away again. He must be pretty upset."

He was just a kid, after all. It was only natural for him to want to stick close to his parents.

Master Linden returned today... and Ian couldn’t even figure out what to call him at first.

He didn’t know what he was supposed to call him.

It was obvious he had no memory of Master Linden.

After all, when Master Linden went abroad, Ian wasn’t even three years old. How could he remember all that?

Nathan Fawcett said, "Don’t worry about him. Grandfather likes him a lot. He won’t do anything to him."

"Mm, but I still want to wait for him to come back."

Anne Sutton sat down to the side.

...

In the room, Master Linden watched Ian, who was sitting in front of him. Ian sat opposite him, showing off what he had learned recently.

Master Linden asked, "Has your mother taught you anything?"

Ian said, "She has!"

He had someone bring over a Gomoku set and began to show it off in front of Master Linden.

At first, Master Linden thought Anne Sutton had taught him Go. When he saw it was Gomoku, his face darkened. "This is all she’s taught you?"

Ian nodded. "Isn’t it fun?"

Ian’s eyes sparkled.

Ever since he had a mother, Anne Sutton had taught him lots of fun kids’ games. It was different from before, when Ian’s lessons were always rather serious.

This had certainly added a lot of fun to his life.

Seeing how happy Ian was, Master Linden didn’t rain on his parade.

However, he was still inwardly dissatisfied with Anne Sutton.

’What a shortsighted woman...’

’If she keeps teaching the child like this, what will he turn into?’

Master Linden raised his head and looked at Butler Shepherd, who was standing to the side.

Butler Shepherd had been by his side for many years. Master Linden ordered, "Go and tell them that Ian will be staying here tonight."

Hearing this, Ian said, "But I want to see my mom."

He hadn’t wanted to come in the first place, but he only came because Anne Sutton told him to!

Why was he being made to stay here now?

Master Linden looked at Ian and said, "Great-Grandpa hasn’t seen you in a long time. What, you don’t want to talk to your Great-Grandpa?"

"But we can talk again tomorrow! I want to go to sleep now."

"You can just sleep here!" Master Linden’s suite had a small adjoining room in addition to his own bedroom.

There was enough space for Ian to stay.

Ian said, "But..."

"Come on. Don’t you like to play games? I’ll play with you."

After speaking, he began to coax Ian.

He had already decided. Ian would stay with him for this period, and he would be the one to teach him.

’This way he won’t be left with Anne Sutton, who will only teach him how to play!’

...

Anne Sutton was sitting on the sofa waiting for Ian when Butler Shepherd came over and knocked on the door.

Nathan Fawcett told him to come in.

Butler Shepherd walked in and said with a smile, "Master Linden is very fond of Young Master Ian and has asked him to stay over. The Family Head should also get some rest."

"Have Ian stay over there?" Nathan Fawcett said. "Ian is so young; he’ll disturb Grandfather."

"This is Master Linden’s wish," Butler Shepherd said. "He’s only just gotten the chance to see Ian. Let them spend some more time together."

With that, Butler Shepherd walked out.

Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Ian isn’t coming back to stay with us?"

She hadn’t even seen her son all evening!

Nathan Fawcett said, "Grandfather likes him. He probably wants Ian to stay and keep him company for a while."

"But isn’t your grandfather in poor health? Where would he get the energy to look after Ian? Won’t Ian be a bother to him?"

"I don’t think so," Nathan Fawcett said. "Why don’t you get some rest first?"

"But I miss my son."

Anne Sutton thought of Ian. She was used to seeing her precious boy every night before bed.

Even though he was with Nathan Fawcett’s grandfather, and they were all family, so she shouldn’t feel this way...

Nathan Fawcett said, "Then I’ll go to Grandfather’s and bring him back."

He was about to stand up, but Anne Sutton looked at him and said, "Forget it! Don’t go. Your grandfather probably just wants to spend time with the child. If you go over there, he might think I’m being a petty mother."

Anne Sutton didn’t want to give the old man that kind of impression right off the bat.

Nathan Fawcett said, "Alright then! I’ll go run a bath for you. You should take a shower; don’t you have to go to work tomorrow morning?"

Hearing what Nathan Fawcett said, Anne Sutton went to take a shower.

...

In the morning, Anne Sutton had just gotten out of bed and opened the window. She stood by it, glancing at the sunlight outside before her gaze shifted to the courtyard. She saw Master Linden sitting in a chair with Ian standing before him. It was just after seven o’clock. Ian usually slept in until eight or nine at home, so this was clearly very early for him.

He was incredibly sleepy!

Master Linden had brought him outside to help him wake up.

He said, "You should develop the good habit of sleeping and waking early. Good habits must be cultivated from a young age, understand?"

"But when I’m at home, I never get up this early."

"That’s because your mother just spoils you."

’Of course the child likes her when she spoils him like that!’

’But this is harming the little one, not truly doing what’s best for him!’

As for Anne Sutton’s behavior, Master Linden simply found it absurd.

’She has no consideration for the child’s future...’

’Look at Ryan Linden! He was spoiled rotten by his father, and that’s why he turned out the way he is today!’

’Ian is Nathan Fawcett’s eldest son. It’s very likely that everything in the Linden Family will belong to him in the future!’

’Therefore, he must be cultivated properly, of course!’

Hearing Master Linden’s words, Ian said, "But it’s so nice being spoiled by Mom, isn’t it? Don’t you like it?"

Master Linden’s face darkened as he looked at Ian...

The question actually stumped him.

He said, "If you indulge in momentary pleasure, you’ll ruin your entire life! Great-Grandpa is teaching you this for your own good. Do you want to be an outstanding person like your father, or a good-for-nothing who can’t do anything?"

"I don’t want to be a good-for-nothing!"

"Then pull yourself together!" Master Linden stood up and led Ian in some exercises outside.

Anne Sutton stood at the window watching this scene. ’I didn’t expect the old master to have this kind of determination...’

Nathan Fawcett, dressed in black pajamas, walked over to stand beside Anne Sutton. "What are you looking at so intently? I called you and you didn’t even hear me."

Anne Sutton said, "I’m watching Ian."

Hearing her, Nathan Fawcett followed Anne Sutton’s gaze, smiled, and said, "Grandfather really has a lot of energy, dragging him out for morning exercises."

Anne Sutton said, "Ian hasn’t been up this early in a long time."

She didn’t mind, though.

Even though she only caught a glimpse of her son from afar, it was enough to make her happy!

Anne Sutton turned and went to wash up first.

By the time she finished and came back out, Master Linden had already returned with Ian.

Everyone sat down together for breakfast.

Ian sat in his chair, dozing off from sleepiness. He had gotten up way too early today!

Anne Sutton and Nathan Fawcett walked over and sat down. She glanced at her son and smiled. ’That silly boy.’

Nathan Fawcett looked at Master Linden and said, "Good morning, Grandfather."
