Marrying the Queen Mystic in LOTM
Chapter 125 Battle Between Demigods
Bernadette sat atop a warehouse, wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses as she leisurely observed the battle before her. Those glasses were a Mystical item that functioned as binoculars and could see straight through walls to observe the scene inside the warehouse.
The clash between the official Beyonders and the Rose School of Thought was fierce. Not long after it began, the Demigods of the Rose School of Thought had all joined the fray.
Inside the warehouse, every inanimate object seemed to spring to life, launching attacks at the official Beyonders.
Fortunately, the official Beyonders had cleared the area in advance, and apart from the stone and the metal pedestal, there was nothing else in the warehouse. Even so, the attacks from the Sequence 4 Puppet and Sequence 3 Disciple of Silence were still extremely troublesome to deal with.
The bricks on the walls suddenly seemed to come alive, squeezing themselves out one by one and hopping toward the official Beyonders. The official Beyonders’ clothes became their own shackles, making it difficult for them to move.
The metal platform holding the stone also came alive, raising two metal legs and hopping toward the Disciple of Silence.
At that moment, an eerie tranquility suddenly descended upon the warehouse, causing everyone to feel as if they could fall asleep the very next second.
The animated bricks and clothes immediately fell into a slumber, ceasing their attacks and obstruction against the official Beyonders. The Rose School of Thought members across the battlefield were also thrown into a half-asleep, half-awake stupor.
Archbishop Anthony Stevenson of the Church of the Evernight Goddess had joined the battle.
Immediately after, Archbishop Horamick Haydn, dressed in Intis-style knight’s attire, appeared on the rafters at the top of the warehouse. He tossed down two metal balls inscribed with black mystical symbols…
*Pop~*
The metal balls burst apart, spewing two streams of colorful smoke. The smoke seemed illusory, yet also substantial, and it swirled outward to encoil the members of the Rose School of Thought one by one.
The smoke was clearly a ‘gift’ Horamick had specially prepared for the Rose School of Thought, because neither the Puppet nor the Disciple of Silence had any way to control it.
“Fall back.” Anthony ordered, seizing this opportunity.
They had devised a contingency plan a while back, and following Anthony’s command, everyone except the two orthodox Demigods withdrew to set up an ambush outside the warehouse.
The Disciple of Silence opened his mouth and unleashed an intensely vicious Curse at the two Archbishops. At the same time, the Rose School of Thought members below the Demigod level also began to retreat, because their continued presence would only be a hindrance.
Bernadette furrowed her somewhat martial brows as she observed from afar: ‘Why hasn’t the Moses Ascetic Order Struck yet?’
Right now was the prime opportunity to make a move. With these four Demigods locked in combat, all they needed to do was dispatch a single Demigod to easily seize that stone.
Bernadette suddenly felt a foreboding premonition and jerked her gaze toward Henry Street, then realizing she had lost connection with the Invisible Servant she had stationed by Odis’s side.
‘I’ve been tricked!’ She realized.

~Unit 51 Henry Street~
The walls of fire at the backyard of Gale’s Herbal Shop burned ever fiercer, shattering the flowerpots containing herbs. These walls of fire would not extinguish until the spirituality in the array’s spiritual materials was exhausted.
The Constellations Master felt waves of scorching heat rushing toward him. Stars once again emerged from the Starlight in his hand, but this time the radiance was blue.
A frigid gust blew across the courtyard, causing the temperature to plummet abruptly, nearly snuffing out the walls of fire.
The cold wind reached Odis and Aelia directly, chilling them to the bone and stiffening their movements.
Still, the wall of flames had already bought Odis enough time to reach the control center of the Composite Array and inject his spirituality into it.
An array composed of illusory light symbols and geometric sigils suddenly manifested beneath the Constellations Master’s feet. The array violently disrupted the spirituality surrounding him, stripping his Beyonder powers of their targets and leaving him feeling as though his supernatural strength was suddenly inadequate.
Aelia seized the opportunity. She took out a scroll and hurled it at the Constellations Master.
The scroll shattered midair, transforming into specks of blue illusory light that enveloped the the target, instantly freezing him into an ice sculpture.
With Odis’s Composite Array and Aelia’s assistance, stalling this Constellations Master was well within their power.
Just then, however, a cloud abruptly materialized in midair, drizzling down a pattering light rain. Except these raindrops were a milky white, like milk. One look was enough to tell this was no ordinary rain.
Odis hurriedly stripped off his coat and, shielding himself alongside Aelia, dashed toward the house.
After barely taking two steps, the fire walls in the courtyard were completely extinguished, and an overwhelming surge of drowsiness engulfed them both. For a moment, they had no desire to walk, nor any will to flee; all they wanted was to collapse onto the ground and fall asleep.
The Clairvoyant who was sealing off the surrounding space and Spirit World knew clearly that time was limited and that Odis had to be seized as quickly as possible.
The latter fought to stay conscious as he reached into his inner pocket, dabbed a bit of red powder, and, while he still retained his senses, licked his middle finger.
Instantly, intense spice made sweat bead on his forehead, leaving his entire mouth burning numb.
What Odis had placed into his mouth was a powder used in conjunction with Spellcasting, one of whose ingredients was red-tipped chili pepper powder. It was devastatingly spicy.
He wrestled with the drowsiness under the harsh jolt of the spiciness, then he smeared the powder on his index finger into Aelia’s mouth, leaving both of them drenched in sweat and flushed bright red from the heat.
However, such stimulation could only keep them from falling asleep immediately. And so, suspended in a half-asleep, half-awake stupor, the duo sank slowly to the ground, lacking the will to move an inch.
The Constellations Master finally broke free from the ice and glared furiously at Odis and Aelia. He felt deeply humiliated at being pinned down by a Sequence 6 and a Sequence 7 right in front of Alvis, a Demigod, even if the two could hardly harm him…
After the milky-white rain stopped, the Constellations Master sniffed a pre-prepared potion before daring to enter the courtyard.
The Starlight vanished from his hands. His orders were to capture Odis alive, so he did not dare use his most lethal abilities.
He took out a pre-prepared Mystical Item, a delicate small mirror, and casually tossed it at the other. Midair, the small mirror suddenly sprouted several thick strands of hair, instantly binding Odis into a black cocoon with only his head exposed.
Odis managed to cling to a sliver of consciousness. He planned to seize the moment when his captor was off guard to pray to The Fool and see if that could resolve the situation.
If that failed, his only recourse would be to pray to the God of Steam and Machinery for aid, because He would never allow the Hidden Sage to capture him.
However, doing so would give the God of Steam and Machinery an opening to exert influence over Odis. So unless pushed to the absolute brink, he would avoid taking that step at all costs…
The Constellations Master grabbed Odis, hoisted him onto his shoulder, and conjured a red glow in his other hand, preparing to end Aelia’s life.
Just then, a voice rang out from the rooftop: “A Spell for sealing the Spirit World is hardly widespread. So then, the one hiding in midair must be Alvis.”
A subtle tremor rippled through the surrounding space and the Spirit World. Bernadette, dressed in a ruffled shirt, trousers, and pale-yellow leather boots, materialized within the enclosed domain.
The moment the Constellations Master heard that voice, he turned and fled, Odis still on his shoulder!
Alvis, on the other hand, hadn’t anticipated that the Queen Mystic would value Odis so highly, or that she would detect the seal here so quickly.
His figure manifested, and immediately Re-enacted an illusory, mysterious shadow behind him. It was an Angel from the Fourth Epoch.
Alvis had studied this entity deeply, which was why he could Re-enact it.
Bernadette, meanwhile, took out a small box from the void and donned the pale, metallic-sheened mask resting inside. The moment the mask settled over her face, every trace of life on her vanished, replaced by an oppressive, suffocating aura of Death that rolled over the surroundings.
This was Pale Death, a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact Bernadette had inherited from her father…
Both Alvis and the figure he had Re-enacted turned a ghastly, sickly pale, the colossal pressure forcing the Demigod into a frantic retreat.
As for the Constellations Master who was fleeing the battlefield with Odis on his shoulder, he had just reached the road outside when he suddenly collapsed to his knees, then his flesh and blood rapidly yellowed and festered.
In the blink of an eye, the Sequence 5 was reduced to nothing more than a skeleton and a Beyonder characteristic, without even having the chance to utter a dying word.
Alvis, unable to withstand the crushing weight of Pale Death, immediately jumped into the Spirit World. The Mystical Re-enactment he had conjured dissipated right alongside him before it could achieve anything.
Bernadette did not give chase. Instead, she swiftly put the mask away. While the power of a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact was terrifying, its negative effects were equally dreadful.
Then, with a wave of her hand, a drop of milky-white liquid emerged from both Odis’s and Aelia’s foreheads, instantly dispelling their drowsiness.
The next instant, the burning spice lingering in their mouths flared back up with excruciating intensity!
The black hair wrapped around Odis receded into the exquisite little mirror. He put away the mirror and the Constellations Master’s Beyonder characteristic, then rushed into the herbal shop.
He hastily prepared a crisp, icy-cool concoction, gulped down two mouthfuls, and used the rest to rinse his mouth.
Aelia rushed in right behind him in a desperate search for medicine. It took them a minute or two of frantic scrambling before the misery finally subsided.
Bernadette reclined leisurely in a chair, amused. “Using Explosive powder to keep yourselves awake… I have to admit, you certainly are inventive.”
“There was no other choice,” Odis said in a raspy voice, “In front of a Demigod, there aren’t many options for self-preservation.”
As he spoke, he handed the Constellations Master’s Beyonder characteristic over to Bernadette, though he kept the Sealed Artifact disguised as an exquisite mirror for himself.
