Chapter 797: Chapter 397: Shaping the Five Elements Body
Luo Zheng watched from the side, brimming with envy. "I raised them for years, but they never acted like this with me."
Seeing the intimate bond between the Elf Birds and Cheng Zongyang, a wave of helplessness washed over him. He had poured a great deal of effort into raising these two Elf Birds, yet they had never shown him such affection.
Cheng Zongyang smiled. "This is completely different." His smile carried a sense of pride and satisfaction; he shared a special bond with these two Elf Birds.
"Can you confer an edict upon them?" he asked the Ring Spirit in his mind.
"I can," the Ring Spirit replied. It now possessed the Ability to do so.
Cheng Zongyang looked down at the two little creatures and asked softly, "Do you want to take human form?"
Seeming to understand his words, they immediately bobbed their little heads up and down, their eyes sparkling with excitement and yearning.
Hearing this, Luo Zheng realized that Cheng Zongyang was about to confer an edict. He fixed his gaze intently on Cheng Zongyang and the Elf Birds, feeling both happy for them and intensely curious to see what they would look like afterward.
Taking a deep breath, Cheng Zongyang placed the two little creatures on the ground and declared, "Begin."
Instantly, two beams of light descended from the sky, enveloping them.
An edict conferred by the Ring Spirit was not a legendary bestowal of an official position or title. Rather, it was a rule-based edict of transformation. It allowed the targets to gain the recognition of the rules of the Realm of Ten Thousand Races, enabling them to take human form ahead of time and reducing the heavenly tribulations they would otherwise face.
Now, streams of mysterious runes surfaced from the beams of light, slowly rotating in the air. As the runes multiplied, the radiance grew increasingly blinding, completely shrouding the two Elf Birds.
The Elf Birds stayed quietly within the glow, their bodies trembling slightly as they allowed the chains of runes to sink into their flesh. Slowly, as the golden rune chains merged into them, their bodies began to grow. Luo Zheng’s eyes widened; he had never witnessed such a miraculous sight.
The runes within the light seemed to possess a life of their own, constantly shifting and recombining while exuding an ancient, formidable aura. He could feel the surrounding Spiritual Power frantically converging toward the light, drawn by an invisible Power, before finally sinking into the two Elf Birds.
The silhouettes of the two Elf Birds began to change. Their bodies gradually elongated, and their feathers slowly morphed into colorful garments. Where the plumage faded away, smooth skin took its place. Their originally petite beaks and talons deformed, transforming into human facial features and limbs.
As the light faded, a male and a female—both standing around one and a half meters tall—appeared before Cheng Zongyang and Luo Zheng.
They both possessed fair skin and delicate features, resembling teenagers who had just come of age. Beneath their long eyelashes were large, enchanting eyes that sparkled with a vibrant, Elf-like radiance. Their hair cascaded down their backs like waterfalls, retaining the five-colored hues of the Elf Birds’ plumage and shimmering with a mesmerizing luster in the sunlight. The clothes they wore were fashioned from their colorful feathers, fitting them perfectly.
The female Elf Bird took a step forward, bent her knees slightly in a curtsy, and bowed to Cheng Zongyang. Her voice was as melodious as silver bells. "Thank you, Master, for this blessing. You have given us a new life."
"Thank you, Master, for your blessing!" the male Elf Bird echoed with a nod, his eyes brimming with gratitude.
Cheng Zongyang looked at the two figures before him, filled with a deep sense of gratification. He smiled and said, "From now on, you can live in this new form. I hope you like it."
The couple exchanged a smile. They could feel Cheng Zongyang’s goodwill and care, an affection that was even more precious than the joy of taking human form.
"Please bestow names upon us, Master," the female Elf Bird said, bowing once more.
Cheng Zongyang thought for a moment before saying, "You shall be called Cai Li, and he shall be Huan Yu. These names suit your identities."
"Cai Li and Huan Yu thank you for the names, Master," the two expressed their gratitude to Cheng Zongyang once more.
"What are your Lifebound Abilities?" Cheng Zongyang asked curiously.
"Master, my Abilities are Flying and Illusory Sound," Cai Li replied.
"Master, mine are Flying and Bird’s Might. I can command all avian creatures," Huan Yu chimed in.
Cheng Zongyang immediately had the Ring Spirit procure two Cultivation Techniques suited for their Cultivation. He then continued, "These Cultivation Techniques are tailored to your Abilities. Although you have taken human form, you still possess the bodies of the Demon Race. From now on, the two of you should go out and develop on your own. You can propagate your own kind or establish your own tribe; I will not interfere."
Cai Li and Huan Yu exchanged a glance, suddenly growing anxious. "Master, can we not stay?"
Cheng Zongyang smiled. "It isn’t that I won’t let you stay, but rather that I want you to go out and grow your own tribe. Don’t you want to protect your descendants and tribe, ensuring they can multiply and lead better lives?"
With that, the two finally understood.
"Yes, Master! But... can we come back in the future?" Cai Li asked reluctantly.
"You can," Cheng Zongyang replied with a gentle smile.
"Okay." Immediately, the two broke into joyful smiles.
After the couple departed, Luo Zheng looked at Cheng Zongyang. "My Lord, aren’t you worried they might run into a Cultivator while out there like this?"
"It’s fine. With their speed, ordinary Cultivators won’t be able to catch them. Besides, they need their own lives and experiences," Cheng Zongyang said.
Next, Cheng Zongyang proceeded to confer edicts upon his other "veteran subordinates"—the first-generation Ghost-faced Spider and the first-generation Black Iron Head.
