Chapter 1189: In High Spirits on a Happy Occasion

They still had classes to attend and would be punished if they were late.

Su Yue slowly ate his porridge. He was already used to his own popularity. His strength was one factor, but mainly, he felt it was because he was just too handsome.

“Hello, Mr. Su Yue. Your package. Please sign for it.”

Suddenly, a Martial Artist delivering packages for the Martial Arts Network appeared. The delivery address had GPS tracking, allowing them to pinpoint Su Yue’s exact location with a margin of error of less than three meters.

“Thank you!” Su Yue nodded.

This morning, he was destined to sign for packages until his hands cramped. He had ordered too many types of elixirs for them to be consolidated into a single shipment. It was quite a hassle and a huge waste of time.

…

“Hello, Mr. Su Yue…”

“Your package…”

“Please sign here…”

…

Before he knew it, the table next to him was covered with packages. Su Yue suddenly realized he might have made some impulse purchases. Buying so many elixirs at once—could he even finish them in half a month? His goal was to break through to the 4,000-calorie limit within that timeframe. Moreover, once all the packages arrived, he planned to head back to the Wet Realm to cultivate. The Spiritual Qi pressure on Earth was simply too weak.

“Hello, Mr. Su Yue. We meet again.”

Suddenly, another Martial Artist appeared in front of him. Thinking it was just another courier, Su Yue instinctively prepared to sign for the package. But taking a closer look, he realized it was actually Li Yongjun, the Deputy Director from the Weapons Department of the Research Institute who had delivered the sword to Mu Cheng a few days ago.

It was only when he was browsing the Martial Arts Network last night that Su Yue realized Li Yongjun was no ordinary person; he was a renowned weapons expert in the Divine Land. Come to think of it, it made perfect sense. Mu Cheng’s mission to exterminate the Evil Lice at the Evil Spirit Broken Bridge was a major event tied to the rise and fall of the Divine Land’s younger generation. How could the Research Institute afford to be negligent?

When they parted ways at Nanwu, Li Yongjun had promised to gift Su Yue a weapon tailored for use on Earth as a token of gratitude for helping the Weapons Department out of a tight spot. Initially, Su Yue thought Li Yongjun was just being polite, akin to promising to “buy you dinner sometime” when that day would never actually come—a superficial social pleasantry. He never expected Li Yongjun to show up so quickly.

“Director Li, hello! Please, have a seat.” Su Yue hurriedly stood up.

Although they were in the cafeteria, it was quite empty and peaceful, with the staff cleaning up in the distance. Li Yongjun had come alone, without any accompanying staff. Furthermore, Su Yue noticed that the man’s eyes were bloodshot, clearly showing signs of extreme exhaustion. If he had truly finished forging the weapon, he must have pulled all-nighters for the past two days.

Su Yue felt a bit touched. In this day and age, honest people like himself and Li Yongjun were few and far between. They were a rare breed.

“Wow, Mr. Su Yue, you’ve been on quite a shopping spree,” Li Yongjun said as he sat down, praising the haul. “This is the latest elixir from Mei Jian Country, and this one is from Luoxiong Country. Even the children of Mei Jian Country’s tycoons rarely get to consume these. You are incredibly wealthy.”

Su Yue had been unboxing them just now. While some packages were opened, the inner packaging remained sealed, still displaying the text descriptions from Mei Jian Country. As an employee of the Research Institute, Li Yongjun’s daily work involved studying foreign items. Although he hadn’t seen these elixirs in person, he was generally familiar with them from intelligence reports.

These foreign elixirs only had one defining characteristic: they were so expensive they would bleed your wallet dry.

“I’m just used to spending freely. It’s not a good habit,” Su Yue chuckled wryly. “It just so happens that my Qi Blood is stuck at a critical juncture. As you know, Pressure Ring Martial Artists have it harder than others, so I have no choice.”

“Yes, that’s understandable. According to the news sent back from the Daoist Sect, the most difficult hurdle for Pressure Ring Martial Artists is the final stretch.

“You’re currently at the peak of the Fourth Grade, and the hardest Qi Blood bottleneck to break through is those last forty or so calories. Buying a wide variety of elixirs will increase your chances of a breakthrough. Just be careful and stay safe, lest other countries try to assassinate you.

“But then again, your reward this time was a staggering 900 million, the highest record in the Divine Land to date. You can absolutely use that money to buy convenience and top-brand elixirs,” Li Yongjun nodded and said.

Although he understood the logic, Li Yongjun still looked at the pills before him with a face full of envy. Here was an elixir from Lie Dian Country worth 9 million a pill, and that wasn’t even factoring in the hefty import tax. It sure was nice to be rich.

“I feel somewhat ashamed to accept it.

“There are many Martial Artists whose contributions far exceed mine. I’m just thick-skinned enough to accept it, whereas many other Martial Artists simply don’t care about such worldly possessions,” Su Yue quickly replied with modesty.

The 900 million reward for reaching the top still made him feel a bit apprehensive. After all, he was the first to achieve it.

“Su Yue, please don’t say that,” Li Yongjun waved his hand.

“The value of a Heiye alone is absolutely worth those 900 million, not to mention that your father, Prince Qing, has also provided the Divine Land with quite a few Ninth Grade elixir samples.

“To be honest, it would be entirely justified for the Divine Land to give you another few hundred million. But the country’s finances are indeed a bit tight right now, so they had to be somewhat stingy.”

Hearing this, Su Yue froze. His dad had actually given Ninth Grade elixirs to the Elixir Group to use as samples? He hadn’t even known about this. In Su Yue’s mind, given Su Qingfeng’s deep resentment toward the Elixir Group, he shouldn’t have been so selfless. When all was said and done, his dad was still unable to regain his freedom.

Alas. Perhaps, his dad still couldn’t sever his deep attachment to the Divine Land.

Su Yue let out another wry chuckle. What fairness, what resentment, what defiance. In the face of the greater good of the nation, his dad always knew where to draw the line.
