Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System
Chapter 1200 - 398: There Is Simply No Absolute Safety
"Hmph. Fei Ningxiao, you were already severely injured by Yuan Longhan seven years ago. Now, you actually dare to cross the void and come to the Divine Land? Are you throwing away your miserable Zenith life?"
Su Yue had just hoisted two wounded men onto his shoulders. Before he could even step out of the third shield, a resonant voice echoed across the sky.
A moment later, an old man wearing a red tank top and rubber shoes stepped onto the second shield. He suddenly stood tall in the void, glaring coldly at Fei Ningxiao’s giant face.
That face was pressed tightly against the first shield. It was composed of a layer of dark red blood clouds, making it look exceptionally bizarre and eerie.
The old man in the tank top looked strikingly like Nicholas Zhao Si. As he spoke, the corners of his mouth twitched. Beneath the giant face, he seemed like a mere ant facing a violent storm. Yet, the appearance of this old man inexplicably brought a sense of reassurance.
Yes! His arrival was like a Stabilizing Needle!
"Su Yue, leave immediately. That’s an order," Zhao Zhuangyuan said, also looking up at the old man.
Despite the arrival of powerful reinforcements, Zhao Zhuangyuan’s expression only grew grimmer. The appearance of President Nie Haijun meant that the situation had spiraled out of control. A massive battle was likely imminent, making it incredibly dangerous for Su Yue to stay. Moreover, the two wounded men on his back were vital experts from the Research Institute.
"Understood!" Su Yue nodded, turned around, and broke into a run. Although things were about to get lively, he couldn’t afford to stick around and watch the show with two experts slung over his shoulders.
"Su Yue, thank you. We appreciate the hard work."
Burdened with the injured, Su Yue couldn’t travel at full speed. He had to slow his pace; otherwise, the fierce astral winds would kill these two Second-Grade Qi and Blood Martial Artists. He wasn’t afraid of getting lost. Although he didn’t have navigation, there were plenty of martial artists from the Zhenqin Corps ahead of him.
Su Yue honestly marveled at these martial artists. They were Second-Grade, for crying out loud! Yet neither of them even knew a simple Qi Blood Shield. The other guy was even more infuriating. He clearly knew how to control a Qi Blood Blade, but when faced with falling rocks from the sky, he completely forgot to use it, having been scared completely witless.
But Su Yue couldn’t complain. These Qi and Blood Martial Artists poured all their energy into scientific research. Where would they find the time to practice combat tactics? The blame lay solely with the alien races; they were the ones who had caused this disaster.
"Teachers, do you two know who that old man in the tank top up in the sky is?" Su Yue asked curiously as he ran.
He was a Ninth-Grade Martial Artist, after all. He seemed even more powerful than Su Yue’s father-in-law and godfather. Since both of these wounded men were older than him and he didn’t know how to address them, he universally called them "teachers."
Then again, even Jing Cangkong, who shot hardcore adult films, was called a "teacher." Was the title a bit inappropriate?
He thought, "Bah! What time is it, and why am I thinking about such random nonsense?"
"That elder is Nie Haijun, the First Academician of the Research Institute. You can also consider him the President of the Research Institute.
"The President is around the same age as Marshal Yuan Longhan. They were martial artists from the same graduating class as the Grand Marshal. Back in the day, the President also attempted to break through to the Zenith realm, but unfortunately failed. In the end, he stayed behind to guard the Research Institute. He is also among the oldest generation of martial artists currently living in the Divine Land," one of the wounded men answered.
As for the other man, he was already unconscious.
"He’s actually Mr. Nie Haijun?" Su Yue was taken aback.
The name Nie Haijun hadn’t just appeared in the Wuda library; it was even a familiar sight in high school textbooks. Everyone knew that Nie Haijun had already retired, but no one expected him to still be secretly guarding the Research Institute. With the title of First Academician, Nie Haijun truly lived up to everyone’s expectations.
However, his image in the textbooks was always that of a man in a sharp suit and leather shoes, complete with a little bowtie. But this old man in the red tank top... was he really not the King of Dance?
"Alas, even though the President has stepped in, I have a premonition that something terrible is going to happen to the Research Institute this time.
"Take a look behind you. The color of the second shield enveloping the Research Institute is abnormal. It shouldn’t be this shade of red," the wounded man added.
"May I ask for your esteemed name, Teacher?" Su Yue asked, glancing back.
Sure enough, the outermost layer of Absolute Defense was a very pale color, but the second shield was glowing with a bloody light. It was indeed quite unusual. Still, Su Yue figured that with President Nie Haijun holding the fort, it shouldn’t be a big problem. After all, the President was a ruthless figure who had once attempted to break through to the Zenith realm.
"My surname is Wu. I’m a deputy section chief in the Tactics Department. Just call me Teacher Wu," the wounded man said.
"Oh! You’re a deputy section chief of the Tactics Department? Do you know Yan Dongyan? He’s also my teacher. I guess you could say I’m an unofficial member of the Tactics Department," Su Yue said, looking pleasantly surprised.
"Yes, I know him." The wounded man’s face darkened.
He wondered if this kid was a bit mentally deficient. He thought, "I’m a deputy section chief of the Tactics Department! How could I not know my direct superior? Do I even dare not know him?"
"Teacher Wu, don’t doubt me! I really am an unofficial member of the Tactics Department. I also know that there’s a deputy section chief in the department named Wuteng Feng. Everyone calls him Teacher Wuteng.
"I heard that Teacher Wuteng’s father wanted his son to soar to great heights, so he decided to name the child after whatever he saw outside the delivery room.
"At the time, his father saw maple leaves, so he named him Wuteng Feng. If he had seen the blue sky, the result would have been unimaginable!
"Teacher Wu, do you know this teacher named Wuteng Feng? I really admire him... I..."
Su Yue and Teacher Wu had been having a delightful conversation. After all, they were colleagues from the Tactics Department, so there was a natural sense of camaraderie. But as Su Yue continued talking, he sensed a trace of sheer awkwardness in the air.
"I am Wuteng Feng.
"My surname is just Wu, not a compound surname like Wuteng."
