Martial Arts Overlord

Chapter 1399: Cultivation, Strange Kid!

  • Next Chapter

The Tiger King agreed to guide Luo Feng. After the two of them rested for a moment, they came to a dangerous peak.

The mountain peak was incomparably steep, covered in jagged strange rocks with not a hint of green. From afar, it looked like a gigantic sword stabbing straight into the clouds, standing tall between heaven and earth. The hazy mist around it, under the moonlight, gave off a dim jade-like glow, adding an air of mystery and eeriness.

“Senior, what are we cultivating now?”

Though his True Yuan had yet to fully recover, Luo Feng was extremely excited, filled with anticipation for the training to come.

The night wind was bitterly cold. The Tiger King gazed at the dangerous peak before them and said:

“Let me warn you first: our Wild tribe’s cultivation method is different from that of your Hundred Nations Territory. If you can’t withstand the pressure, you’d best give up now.”

Luo Feng shook his head. “Unfortunately, I don’t like giving up halfway.”

“Good.”

The Tiger King smiled, crossing his arms as he said, “Our Wild tribe’s cultivation method is different from that of your Hundred Nations Territory. We don’t cultivate Cultivation Techniques or Martial Arts, we only cultivate Body Refinement.”

“Body Refinement?” Luo Feng’s brows furrowed slightly.

The Tiger King nodded. “The world is vast, and there are all kinds of ways to fight, but in the end, it’s nothing more than unleashing some form of power through some kind of means. The body is our own inherent power; refinement is the path by which that power is exerted. Martial Arts are the same. Swordsmanship, Saber Technique, fist techniques… no matter how powerful those moves are, if a three-year-old child is the one using them, they’re meaningless. So the body is the root and foundation; without this, everything else is meaningless.”

Boom!

As he spoke, the Tiger King’s body trembled slightly.

In an instant, a boundless aura erupted from him. The ground beneath his feet immediately split open with countless cracks, and the dangerous peak ahead suddenly shook, forcibly sinking dozens of meters!

Hiss!

Luo Feng drew in a deep breath of cold air. Even if he went all out with the Step of Sky-Burning Monarch, he couldn’t possibly produce such power. Not even a tenth of it.

The Tiger King glanced at Luo Feng. “Martial Arts are nothing more than attack skills, but the most important thing, in the end, is still your own power. When your own strength reaches a certain level, you won’t need any moves at all. A single punch, a single kick, will have the power to shatter heaven and destroy earth. This is what your Hundred Nations Territory calls ‘power that shatters all techniques’.”

Bang!

As he spoke, the Tiger King lightly clenched his left fist and swung it out.

Rumble rumble rumble…

The punch looked as if it couldn’t withstand a breeze, yet its might was unimaginable. As his fist shot forth, it was as if the entire world was enveloped by that single punch. On the ground ahead, a massive pit over a kilometer wide appeared out of nowhere, stretching thousands of meters into the distance. The mountains, rivers, everything along the way was reduced to ruins.

Power that shatters all techniques!

Luo Feng watched, his blood surging, firmly engraving the Tiger King’s words into his heart. “Senior, then let’s begin.”

The Tiger King nodded and glanced at Juyan beside him.

Roar!

Juyan let out a crazed howl. With a boom, scarlet-gold flames over ten zhang high exploded from its body, illuminating the entire night sky as bright as day. Then it lifted its right foot and heavily stomped the ground before it.

Boom!

The earth trembled. Fiery patterns appeared on the ground, spreading forward, covering a radius of several thousand meters and including the entire mountain ahead.

The next moment.

Rumble!

Suddenly, brilliant scarlet flames erupted from the earth, forming a gigantic pillar of fire that soared into the sky, completely engulfing the dangerous peak.

“Senior, this is…?” Luo Feng licked his lips as he stared at the mountain shrouded in flames.

This was undoubtedly Juyan’s true strength. A casual strike carried a ferocious momentum that would slaughter gods and Buddhas alike. Judging from the scorching heat rolling toward him, even if he went all out and unleashed his Protective Gang Energy, he definitely couldn’t withstand those flames.

“You’ll know soon enough.” The Tiger King did not explain.

The flames continued for a long time. The rocky surface of the peak was quickly melted into magma, and the entire mountain visibly lowered at a speed discernible to the naked eye.

After over ten breaths, the flames gradually subsided. By now, the mountain peak had completely changed. Its whole body was crystalline, emitting a faint red glow under the moonlight, like a mountain sculpted entirely from red crystal. Its height was now only a few dozen meters.

Bang!

The Tiger King’s foot stepped down, and the entire Lava Mountain rose from the ground, flying towards them. Juyan let out a wild roar and charged forward. With a metallic clang, it slammed its head into the base of the mountain, stopping it and leaving it suspended in midair.

Swish!

Juyan flicked its head, sending the mountain flying toward Luo Feng and the Tiger King.

The Tiger King stretched out his hand and effortlessly caught the Lava Mountain. His feet didn’t shift in the slightest, as if what he was holding aloft wasn’t a mountain but an inconspicuous pebble.

“When it comes to Martial Arts, I can’t help you. Once you enter the Nine Sacred Grounds, there will naturally be people to teach you. Any Martial Arts technique cannot be separated from the Martial Artist’s own power. What I want to teach you is how to grasp and increase that power, to firmly lay the most basic foundation. This is also the first step in our Wild tribe’s Beast Taming body refinement.”

The Tiger King spoke slowly, then suddenly tossed the mountain up into the sky. “Catch it.”

Luo Feng had been listening intently. Hearing this, he took a deep breath and thrust his hands up toward the mountain.

Rumble!

“So heavy!”

The instant his palms touched the mountain, Luo Feng felt an immense pressure suppressing down. He failed to control his strength for a moment, and the ground beneath his feet instantly split open as half his body sank into the earth.

The Tiger King seemed to have expected this and was already outside the mountain’s range.

He raised his hands and lifted the mountain. Looking at Luo Feng, the Tiger King said, “Any Martial Artist in the True Yuan Realm can lift this mountain, but the key lies in mastery of strength—how to achieve the state where your power moves exactly as your will dictates, surging and withdrawing freely. When you can hold this mountain aloft and stroll about as if in a garden, without leaving any traces on the ground, that will count as Small Success.”

Luo Feng leaped out of the ground and nodded. “I’ve learned.”

Exhaling a mouthful of turbid air, Luo Feng adjusted his state and once again took hold of the mountain.

Crack!

The ground split open with several fissures. Luo Feng’s steps sank half a foot deep, then gradually stabilized.

“Seems easier than I imagined…”

Once he found his rhythm, Luo Feng tried walking a few steps, only leaving several deep footprints in the ground—completely different from just now when half his body had sunk into the earth.

“Don’t be happy too soon. This is only the first step. Juyan.”

The Tiger King’s voice rang out. Then, the Falling Star Sky-Splitting Tiger at the side looked at Luo Feng. In those lantern-like eyes flashed a hint of somewhat teasing light. Its body sprang, and it leaped up onto the mountain.

At first Luo Feng didn’t take it seriously. No matter how powerful the Falling Star Sky-Splitting Tiger was, compared to this mountain, its weight was negligible.

But he changed his mind very quickly.

Roar!

With Juyan’s wild roar, a pressure as vast as a mountain descended from above, fiercely bearing down on Luo Feng’s spirit. It made him feel as if the mountain in his hands suddenly grew several times heavier, his feet immediately sinking into the ground.

“From now until daybreak, you must walk one hundred Baili to the south.”

The Tiger King’s voice held not a trace of emotion, yet in his heart he was greatly astonished.

For a first attempt at this kind of cultivation training, it usually took several days just to barely reach the stage of not sinking into the ground. Luo Feng had grasped the essence of it in a mere instant, to the point that he’d had to improvise and have Juyan use its aura to suppress Luo Feng, increasing the difficulty.

Strange little brat…

Guiding Luo Feng had originally been nothing more than a passing whim, but now the interest in the Tiger King’s eyes was growing stronger and stronger.
