Chapter 292: Chapter 176: Attribute Breaks 3, This Is My Path
The car windows were rolled up tight.
Wasting no time, Wan Ze opened both cases and placed them on his lap.
The briefcase on his left was filled with cash. Wan Ze had combined the two payments beforehand, so there was a total of one million, stacked neatly in bundles of ten thousand.
Zhai Yu and Zhai Jia hadn’t come expecting to get anything. They were there to help as brothers, not for a cut of the profits.
Wan Ze knew this perfectly well.
Still, he casually pulled out a few stacks from the case. Each was a bundle of ten thousand. After a moment’s thought, he added several more.
One hundred thousand each.
He pressed the two hundred thousand in cash into Zhai Yu and Zhai Jia’s hands with a swift, firm motion that brooked no refusal.
"If you see me as a brother, just take it. The next job is worth at least 1.45 million, and we’ll split that evenly," Wan Ze said magnanimously.
The car fell silent for a moment.
Zhai Yu and Zhai Jia were both stunned by Wan Ze’s generosity.
One point four five million... split evenly!
That meant Wan Ze was planning to give each of them nearly half a million of the money he’d risked his life to earn.
He was... far too generous.
But it wasn’t just about generosity. It was the willingness to share what he’d already earned... To be frank, that level of character was a rare sight in the entire Martial Dao Circle.
In fact, it wasn’t just people in their circle; most people would hoard every advantage for themselves and still feel like they weren’t grabbing it fast enough.
But Zhai Jia had met very few people in his life who, like Wan Ze, would willingly give things away.
He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t moved.
Still, Zhai Jia couldn’t help but look toward Zhai Yu.
’What do we do?’
He didn’t want to accept the money, but he didn’t know how to refuse without damaging their friendship.
He was worried his refusal would come across as harsh and that Wan Ze would take it the wrong way.
Zhai Yu was silent for a moment. Sitting in the driver’s seat with his hand on the steering wheel, he tapped his fingers against it before turning his head to look at Wan Ze.
His expression was calm, but anyone who knew him could tell he was wrestling with his thoughts.
Zhai Yu was trying to figure out how to phrase it so that Wan Ze wouldn’t feel rejected, nor would he think Zhai Yu was just being polite.
He hadn’t expected to get anything out of this trip.
But just as he was about to speak, Wan Ze smiled and cut in first. "Brother Yu, Brother Jia, don’t feel like you’re taking advantage of me. I actually have a small favor to ask of you two."
"Why be so formal? Just spit it out," Zhai Jia said with a laugh.
Zhai Yu nodded as well, looking over and waiting quietly for Wan Ze to speak.
Wan Ze smiled, seeming to choose his words carefully. "Well," he began slowly, "I’ve always been rather interested in antiques, especially old items related to the Martial Dao. Things like Ancient Weapons, Old Boxing Manuals, or even items used by the older generation of masters—anything, really. I don’t necessarily have to buy them. If you hear about anything, I’d love to just tag along and take a look. If I find something I really like, it won’t be too late to buy it then."
He spoke in a very casual tone, as if describing a minor, unimportant hobby.
But only he knew that it wasn’t the artifacts themselves he was after, but the "Stealing Celestial Secret" that clung to them.
Every object that had been used by a Martial Dao master could potentially carry a great fortune.
To him, these things were more precious than any Martial Skill.
"Is that all? That’s a piece of cake," Zhai Jia laughed, slapping his thigh. "I thought it was some big deal. That’s it?"
He suddenly recalled that Wan Ze had mentioned something similar before, but he didn’t really have any connections, so he could only look to Zhai Yu.
Zhai Yu nodded, his tone steady. "I know some of the old veterans in the martial arts world. Most of them have a few treasures tucked away. We can pay them a visit in the name of Dragon Eagle, claiming we’re juniors seeking guidance. The old-timers are usually happy to oblige. Our own masters would be glad to see us making these visits, too. For one, it brings honor to Dragon Eagle, and for another, it helps us maintain relationships with the community’s veterans."
He laid out the plan clearly; obviously, this wasn’t the first time he’d done something like this.
The Dragon Eagle Martial Arts Hall held a respectable position in the Jiangnan Martial Dao Circle, so a visit from one of its disciples was a sign of respect that honored the recipient.
And visiting under the pretext of "observing and learning" wouldn’t seem too forward, nor would it arouse suspicion.
Wan Ze understood the logic and immediately smiled. "Then I thank you two in advance."
"Don’t be so formal," Zhai Jia said, waving his hand dismissively while fidgeting with the cash. "Brother Yu and I just ran a few errands, and we ended up with this much... Ah Ze, honestly, Brother Yu and I really appreciate the gesture, but please don’t talk about splitting things evenly again. It makes it sound like we’re dividing up loot."
He chuckled as he said the words "dividing up loot," and the somewhat tense atmosphere in the car instantly relaxed.
Wan Ze looked at them, hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
’Fair enough.’
Being too rigid about these things between brothers would only create distance.
He had insisted on splitting the money this time; next time, Zhai Jia and Zhai Yu would surely find their own way to return the favor.
In the Martial Dao Circle, the exchange of favors wasn’t about keeping a perfect ledger, but about a mutual, unspoken understanding.
He shoved the cash box under the seat, then pulled the four Martial Arts Manuals from the silver metal case. Spreading them out on his lap, he gestured to the two brothers. "See if any of them catch your eye."
The four manuals lay side by side on the seat, their covers illuminated by the moonlight.
At almost the same instant, both Zhai Jia’s and Zhai Yu’s eyes fell upon the manual titled *Ten Thousand Waves Secret Martial Arts*.
The words "Secret Martial Arts" held a natural allure for anyone dedicated to the Martial Dao.
It wasn’t an ordinary Martial Skill. It was a Sect’s ultimate treasure, the very essence of their Martial Dao, polished, tested, and perfected over generations.
Zhai Yu reached out, picked up the manual, and flipped to the first page. His eyes scanned a few lines, his brow furrowing slightly before relaxing again.
