Martial Dao: Peace by Force
Chapter 400: A Breakthrough in Cultivation! This Is Qi Refining
The coffin wanted nothing more than to smash Wan Ze to death.
Wan Ze watched the coffin tremble and chuckled. “I know you’re anxious, but calm down. First, let me make three points…”
As he spoke, his right hand moved.
Quicker than the eye could follow, he reached out and touched the coffin lid.
[Spiritual Form +66%]
The Exorcism Effect dropped by a minuscule 0.00014%.
[Yin Evil Entering the Body 10 times (4/10)]
‘It worked again!’
The coffin was enraged!
It began to shake furiously.
The entire coffin jumped and bucked on the floor, its lid rattling violently. The Yellow Talisman on it glowed with a dazzling red light, and the red cords binding it snapped taut one after another. Tiny cracks had even begun to appear on the surface of some of the ropes.
The Talisman Array lit up. The red glow of the Cinnabar intensified from a deep crimson to a brilliant red, then to a piercing scarlet, as if it had been set ablaze.
It had gone completely berserk.
Wan Ze froze.
He watched the coffin shaking wildly.
The Cinnabar on the Yellow Talisman swirled wildly, and the red ropes began to emit a low HUMMING sound, one after another.
But far from being scared, he eagerly moved in.
“Easy there, pal. You just want some of your Yin Evil to enter my body, right? Fine, fine, I’ll give you the chance.”
He reached out, touched the coffin lid, and then instantly pulled his hand away.
“Come on, hit me with it!”
He touched it, then let go again.
“Come on! If you’ve got the guts, then bring it on!”
Touch, release.
Each touch was so brief that the cold, sinister energy had no time to lock onto him. The drain on his Exorcism effect was almost negligible.
“Is this pace okay for you? Should I go faster?”
Wan Ze asked in a considerate tone, continuing his tapping.
His fingers tapped rapidly against the coffin lid.
He did this seven more times in quick succession.
‘Condition met!’
A tremor ran through Wan Ze.
The instant the last wisp of Yin Evil entered his body, his Dantian suddenly contracted, then swelled, releasing all its energy in a single moment.
In that instant, it felt as if something had shot through Wan Ze’s body. A warm current surged up and down his spine twice, and steam began to pour from every pore on his skin.
‘Something feels… different.’
It was as if his entire being had been elevated to a new level.
He couldn’t quite describe the feeling; it was as if his body had been completely reforged in that one moment.
He quickly looked down.
…
[Illustrated Guide: Blood Evil Celestial Net (Beginner Manual)] (Basic Level Mastered)
[New Effect: Blood Net Binding Force (All Attributes +0.08)]
[Requirement for Intermediate Level: Yin Evil Entering the Body 100 times]
…
Wan Ze took a deep breath.
‘Basic Level.’
‘A +0.08 boost to All Attributes… All in all, that’s a huge jump in my overall strength.’
‘And this new effect, Blood Net Binding Force… judging by the name, it sounds like some kind of offensive skill I can use in a real fight.’
His gaze slid downward.
The Cultivation section had been updated.
[Martial Dao Cultivation: Refining Viscera·Strengthening the Foundation]
[Cultivation: Qi Refining and Wandering Spirit]
‘Qi Refining and Wandering Spirit.’
Wan Ze stared at the five words for a second.
‘The next stage is Soul Condensation. Once I reach that, I’ll be able to use Magic.’
‘Don’t tell me I’ll be able to use Magic before Brother Feng even finds me a Cultivation Technique?’
Wan Ze chuckled.
He had no time to ponder it further.
After being provoked seven more times, the coffin before him went completely berserk.
The Yellow Talisman on the coffin lid burst into blue flames. The fire spread from the edges of the Talisman Paper toward the center, causing the paper to curl, blacken, and turn to ash in its wake.
The Cinnabar Runes began to twist within the flames.
The talismans filling the air fluttered down like falling leaves.
In that same instant, all the talismans stuck to the walls peeled off. They floated in the air for a moment before an invisible force tore them to shreds, sending countless tiny scraps of paper dancing through the air like snowflakes.
The scraps of paper ignited, filling the room with a CRACKLING sound.
The light from the Array on the floor flared violently. The Cinnabar’s red hue became an incandescent, almost white-hot glare. But the light lasted for less than half a second before, like a burnt-out filament in a lightbulb, it abruptly went dark.
The Array’s pattern flickered twice in the darkness, then went out completely.
The coffin cracked open.
The coffin lid had risen, leaving a gap of about a centimeter.
The gap was tiny, but it was enough for whatever was inside to emerge.
Vile flames spewed from the gap, unleashing an overwhelming evil.
In that very instant.
Wan Ze severed his Spiritual Form.
“No need to see me off, pal. You just stay put. I’ll come visit you again next time.”
With that, Wan Ze’s figure vanished.
SNAP!
The moment Wan Ze disappeared, the entire world seemed to stutter.
Vile flames spewed from the coffin’s gap, surging, spinning, and spreading throughout the stone room. But the flames’ advance suddenly slowed; the black fire unfurled in midair, each individual flicker of the blaze becoming clearly visible.
The next second, the flames from the coffin’s gap accelerated, beginning to sweep through the entire room.
A pungent odor filled the air in the flames’ wake.
The vile flames searched for any sign of Wan Ze, not missing a single crevice.
It even crept into the shadows beneath the stone bed, roiling in the darkness for a few seconds before retreating in frustration, having confirmed there was nothing there.
‘That damned, insolent bastard!!!!’
‘Where in the hell did he go!’
The coffin jolted violently.
It was seething with impotent rage.
The entire stone room trembled from the jolt, sending dust raining down from the walls.
But Wan Ze was already gone.
All that remained in the stone room was a coffin, sealed for who knows how many years and fondled over a hundred times this very night, now left to rage impotently.
HUMMM!
A low hum resonated in his ears.
The sound wasn’t loud, like someone striking a great bell in the distance.
It was the exact same sound he’d heard when arriving in Huangliang, only in reverse.
Wan Ze finally returned to reality and looked up.
“I’m back.”
