Chapter 6720: Can You Stop It?
Chapter 6720: Can You Stop It?
“Am I dreaming?” Baili Xukong rubbed his eyes in disbelief.
His response was dignified compared to the others. Some opened their mouths so wide that one could stuff an egg in them.
It was precisely because they knew they were not seeing things that they were so shocked.
Baili Zilin looked conflicted. He glanced at Chen Hui before shaking his head bitterly. “To think that I even thought about defeating him.”
“Yes, you were very brave,” Chen Hui replied with a laugh.
Jie Tianran stared intently at Chu Feng. He might not have said a word, but the movements of his chest and his trembling hands divulged his thoughts.
“Jie Tianran, you have truly made the wrong call this time. Your grandson is far more talented than that Jie Tian. Do you think he’ll give you a chance if you ask him for mercy now?” the old entity inside Jie Tianran’s body asked.
“My grudge with that little bastard is irreconcilable. Either he dies, or I die. So what if he can raise his cultivation by six ranks? He has only barely reached rank seven Heavenly God level. What do I have to fear?” Jie Tianran replied.
“If so, go ahead and slaughter him. I’m curious to know if God’s Era’s power is any different from other Heavenly Bloodlines,” the old entity said. He supported Jie Tianran’s decision.
Chu Feng took a step out of God’s Era’s silhouette, traversing thousands of kilometers in a single move. With a few steps, he was already standing between God’s Era and Jie Tianran.
As he walked, he reached into his Cosmos Sack and drew his Lightning Flame Sword.
“Jie Tianran, I won’t use any martial skills. I’ll subdue you with just this sword. I shall show you how weak you are when you are at the same cultivation rank as me,” Chu Feng declared.
The crowd was taken aback.
“Isn’t Chu Feng underestimating his opponent too much?” Song Changsheng frowned.
The Netherworld Sectmembers were also worried. They knew that Chu Feng was strong, but Jie Tianran was formidable, too. They had combined their powers with the sacred item’s energy through a formation earlier, but they were still no match for Jie Tianran.
Not to mention that martial skills made a massive difference in a cultivator’s strength. Even a single rank of difference in martial skills could spell the difference between victory and defeat, but Chu Feng chose not to use his martial skills and instead rely solely on his God Armament.
That was courting death!
Jie Tianran understood that, and he felt amused and infuriated at the same time.
On the one hand, he thought it was ridiculous for Chu Feng to impose such a condition on himself. On the other hand, he couldn’t believe that Chu Feng looked down on him so much. He couldn’t stand the contempt directed at him.
“Chu Feng, are you getting ahead of yourself when you have only just reached Heavenly God level? Very well, I shan’t take advantage of you. As long as you don’t use martial skills, I also won’t use my formations and treasures. I’ll only wield this saber. I shall show you that you aren’t a match for me, even when you are the same cultivation rank. In fact, I can defeat you without relying on the means of a world spiritist.”
Jie Tianran unleashed his pure spirit power to enhance his body and his Demon Slayer Saber.
Shoosh!
He took a step forward, and his body morphed into a surge of light that whizzed toward Chu Feng. His movement speed was so fast that it only took an instant for him to arrive before Chu Feng.
Shoosh!
He swung his saber downward to cleave Chu Feng into two.
But Chu Feng had seen through his attack. He held his Lightning Flame Sword horizontally to deflect Jie Tianran’s slash.
Clang!
The two weapons clashed like two colliding comets, producing sparks so bright that they inundated the surroundings. The resulting shockwaves were so strong that they sent Jie Tianran flying into the distance.
It took Jie Tianran a moment to regain his balance. His hands had gone completely numb, and when he inspected his Demon Slayer Saber, his eyes widened in horror.
The Demon Slayer Saber was known as the strongest world spiritist weapon in the world of cultivation, and it was thought to be nigh indestructible. Yet, it had chipped after clashing against Chu Feng’s Lightning Flame Sword once.
He hurriedly looked at Chu Feng’s Lightning Flame Sword—it was undamaged. Chu Feng also stood his ground, not retreating in the slightest.
Chu Feng shook his head and scoffed, “Is that all?”
Jie Tianran’s anger erupted. He charged at Chu Feng once more with his Demon Slayer Saber.
Chu Feng was unfazed. He stood his ground and patiently waited for Jie Tianran to get to him.
Shoosh shoosh shoosh!
This time, Jie Tianran had learned his lesson. He opted for a barrage of swift attacks instead of a single powerful strike. The Demon Slayer Saber vanished amid countless afterimages, sealing off Chu Feng’s path of retreat.
But Chu Feng easily unraveled his offense.
Jie Tianran tried attacking from different trajectories and angles, sometimes even abruptly changing his attack halfway, but somehow, Chu Feng managed to block all his attacks impeccably.
This made him extremely frustrated. He felt like he was always just one step short of defeating Chu Feng.
Shoosh!
After blocking another one of Jie Tianran’s attacks, Chu Feng suddenly changed the trajectory of his Lightning Flame Sword to stab Jie Tianran’s face. His blade was so fast that cold sweat immediately drenched Jie Tianran’s back.
But, with the sharp observation and reflexes he had honed as a world spiritist, Jie Tianran still managed to pull off an evasive maneuver.
Little did he expect Chu Feng to change the trajectory of his sword once more, switching from a stab to a slash targeting Jie Tianran’s neck.
Jie Tianran had no choice but to retreat.
Chu Feng chased him like a relentless phantom. At the same time, he turned his blade toward Jie Tianran’s arm.
This time, there was nowhere for Jie Tianran to escape.
All this happened in the blink of an eye. Before the crowd could process what was going on, blood splattered, and Jie Tianran hurriedly retreated into the distance. By then, his left arm had already been severed.
“Why are you fighting him close up, Jie Tianran? That measly combat skills of yours can’t even match a tenth of his swordsmanship!” the old entity roared furiously.
In truth, he was also caught off guard. He hadn’t dissuaded Jie Tianran from engaging Chu Feng in a physical fight because Jie Tianran was actually extremely skilled in close-quarter combat. It was only after crossing blows that he realized that Chu Feng’s swordsmanship was at an entirely different level.
Chu Feng didn’t continue pursuing Jie Tianran. He stood mid-air while calmly touching his Lightning Flame Sword. “Jie Tianran, I can tell you right now that I’ll be stabbing your left eye next. Can you stop me?”
His words carried confidence as if he were prophesying the future.
By now, it had become apparent to Jie Tianran that he was no match for Chu Feng in terms of weaponry.
Shoosh!
Chu Feng vanished. He morphed into a surge of light whizzing toward Jie Tianran.
“Hmph.”
Jie Tianran harrumphed. He didn’t bother to make any evasive maneuvers. It was only when Chu Feng’s attack was about to land that teleportation energy suddenly enveloped Jie Tianran.
Jie Tianran had invoked a teleportation formation to transport him into the far distance.
GRAR! BOOM!
A humongous formation serpent appeared where Jie Tianran previously stood. It was the massacre formation he had laid beforehand. Seeing the formation serpent swallow Chu Feng whole, Jie Tianran smirked triumphantly.
“Chu Feng, how foolish are you to believe that I won’t resort to formations? At your age, you should have known better not to blindly trust your opponent.”
Right after Jie Tianran said those words, his face suddenly crumbled.
Chu Feng had suddenly appeared before him like a specter, and his Lightning Flame Sword plunged into his left eye.
