Chapter 6733: The Backlash Strikes
“So... you’re here to humiliate me,” Jie Tianran pointed out.
Chu Xuanyuan sighed. “I’ve already told you that you are unworthy of that. I just think that Ranqing should decide your life and death. I’m merely answering your questions to satisfy your curiosity now.
“This doesn’t mean that I feel obliged to protect you; I won’t stop anyone other than Feng’er from killing you, so it depends on you whether you get to meet Ranqing or not. Once you enter the Ninth Galaxy, you won’t be the powerful Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s Master anymore.
“I’ll spare your life, but I’ll be taking this old braggart from you.”
Chu Xuanyuan turned to the old thing. His body turned into lightning—it wasn't just a skill; his true form was lightning. The lightning in his chest swirled to reveal the entrance to a lightning realm.
There were figures inside the realm. Some had turned into bones, with their origin essences devoured clean. Those who were still alive were in a miserable state. The lightning realm was slowly absorbing their powers.
But the one who suffered the most had the lowest cultivation. He was so weak that there was a world of difference between him and the other figures. The lightning didn’t consume it, though it continued to zap him ceaselessly. It was pure torture without any sight to an end.
He was the Immortal Slaughterer’s Number Two. His spirit was broken, and his eyes had become dazed. He screamed, but that was out of sheer instinct. He had been tortured to the point where he no longer seemed human.
But Jie Tianran didn’t pay attention to that small fry. He scanned the figures who were still alive inside the lightning realm, and his mouth fell agape in utter shock. He actually recognized some legendary figures whom he had only seen portraits of.
Even for those whom he had never met before, he could tell that they possessed special constitutions and were exceptionally powerful. But all of them were Chu Xuanyuan’s prisoners.
The old entity also witnessed the same sight, and to his horror, his body drifted uncontrollably toward the lightning realm. He could already see what would become of him, and he struggled with all his might. He even turned to Jie Tianran to beg him, but he was unable to utter a word.
In the end, he entered the lightning realm under Jie Tianran’s watch.
Shortly after, Chu Xuanyuan’s body reverted to normal.
“Those people aren’t just being tortured. You’re absorbing their powers. I’ve heard rumors about martial power formations and how they can be on par with normal formations.”
Jie Tianran could tell that the lightning realm was a formation. Chu Xuanyuan’s current body might even be a formation instead of his main body, but he found it hard to believe that there could be such a perfect formation in the world. That was why he felt uncertain.
Chu Xuanyuan didn’t answer his question. He waved his sleeve, and a door appeared ahead of them. “We’re here. You should go in now.”
Beyond the door was a sea of stars that seemed near yet distant. It was the Ninth Galaxy.
Jie Tianran halted his footsteps and fell into contemplation.
“I won’t protect you if Feng’er catches up,” Chu Xuanyuan said.
“Have you met Ranqing?” Jie Tianran asked.
Chu Xuanyuan didn’t answer.
“Is she doing well?” Jie Tianran asked again.
“Why don’t you enter the Ninth Galaxy and find out for yourself? You’ll have to work hard to reach where she is. The Seven Realms Sacred Mansion is faring well in the Ninth Galaxy, though they are not as dumb as you. I suggest you don’t approach them until you receive Ranqing’s forgiveness. Otherwise, they’ll deem you a sinner when they learn about your deeds. Feng’er should have been a member of the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion. You pushed him to the Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect,” Chu Xuanyuan said.
“This really is a formation. Your main body must be in the Ninth Galaxy, or else you wouldn’t know all these,” Jie Tianran pointed out.
“Stop probing me. Stop being a frog in the well and explore the real world of cultivation... though if I were you, I might choose not to go in,” Chu Xuanyuan said.
JIe Tianran was perplexed. Why did Chu Xuanyuan say those words when he was urging him to enter the Ninth Galaxy?
“If I were you, I’d choose to kill myself right now. Your life will only get more painful from this point onward,” Chu Xuanyuan said with a faint smile as if he was already seeing Jie Tianran’s future.
Jie Tianran knew what Chu Xuanyuan was getting at. If the person before him was just a formation, the real Chu Xuanyuan was bound to be far stronger. But there was no way Chu Xuanyuan would acknowledge him as his father-in-law. Chu Feng also wouldn’t acknowledge him as his grandfather, either. Even his daughter, Ranqing, might not forgive him.
These were the seeds he had sown.
Jie Tianran laughed bitterly. There seemed to be words at the back of his throat, but he eventually entered the Ninth Galaxy without saying a word.
Chu Xuanyuan retracted his gaze. He didn’t want Chu Feng to kill Jie Tianran, but that didn’t mean that he cared about JIe Tianran. He turned his eyes toward distant space, where he saw a figure that was heading in his direction slowing to a halt.
“Why did you stop chasing them?” Eggy asked.
“The old entity’s aura first vanished, then Jie Tianran’s aura vanished as well. They have entered the Ninth Galaxy,” Chu Feng said.
“They ran straight into the Ninth Galaxy? How are they able to move that fast?”
Chu Feng had become extremely fast after invoking his blood rampage, but even so, he was still far from the NInth Galaxy. Eggy was surprised that those two could outrun Chu Feng by so much. They must have activated an extremely powerful escape means.
“So be it.”
A black aura surged out from Chu Feng’s body and morphed into Eggy’s form. She was still so beautiful, but her face was ghastly pale.
Chu Feng looked at Eggy with worried eyes. “Eggy.”
“What’s wrong?” Eggy asked.
Chu Feng shook his head, choosing not to say anything. The nine-colored lightning around him had begun to recede. He knew that it was time for him and Eggy to face their trial—the backlash from their blood rampage and wielding the Asura Sword.
Under normal circumstances, it would have been impossible for him and Eggy to withstand it.
“Don’t worry. I’m with you,” Eggy said as she grabbed Chu Feng’s arm and pressed her face against it.
She knew that this could be the end of their journey. In the past, she would have punched or kicked him for making such a risky move, but this time, she didn’t do that. She lay in his arms and patiently waited.
Chu Feng closed his eyes and enjoyed this beautiful moment. He didn’t fear death. He was already prepared for it from the moment he activated his bloodline rampage. He had no regrets even if this was his end.
That said, he had an inkling that they wouldn’t die here. Someone would save them.
Soon, Eggy tightened her clutch around Chu Feng’s arm and frowned. Chu Feng also clenched his teeth. Their backlash had struck, and extreme pain began to engulf them.
Chu Xuanyuan witnessed this sight from the borders of the Ninth Galaxy. While he was not worried about Chu Feng, his heart still ached at the sight. “Feng’er, I’ll take you with me if they don’t make a move. You’ll no longer have to face those challenges alone. I’ll be your backing.”
