[First Choice: Heaven-Slaying Peak]

“Excellent!”

Lei Wanjun slapped his thigh hard. The gloom on his face vanished in an instant, replaced by a wave of ecstasy!

“The boy has good taste! He knows my Heaven-Slaying Peak is the best fit for him!”

He had long since sent people to secretly contact Feng Wuji’s family and promise them many benefits. Now, his efforts had finally paid off!

Gu Shan and Moon Shadow exchanged a look, both looking rather glum.

They, too, had secretly contacted Feng Wuji, but unfortunately, their offers weren’t as generous as Lei Wanjun’s.

And so, of the two most precious prospects at Tenth Layer Great Perfection, one went to Spirit Void Peak, and the other to Heaven-Slaying Peak.

Coiling Dragon Peak and Shadow Killing Peak came away empty-handed.

“My two Senior Brothers.”

Moon Shadow’s voice drifted out, tinged with a hint of coldness. “Since you two have taken both Great Perfection cultivators, wouldn’t it be rather unfair to keep dividing the rest based on their choices?”

Gu Shan added in a deep voice, “That’s right. A single cultivator at Tenth Layer Great Perfection is worth three or four at the Eighth Layer! Since you’ve had the meat, you should at least let us have our fill of the soup!”

Lei Wanjun and Daoist Wu Wei exchanged a glance. They knew they couldn’t be too greedy, or things would get ugly if a real conflict broke out.

“Fine.” Having secured Feng Wuji, Lei Wanjun was in high spirits. He waved his hand magnanimously. “The rest, as long as they aren’t dead set on a specific peak, can be reallocated to you.”

Daoist Wu Wei nodded as well. “This humble Daoist only wants Jiang Che. The rest are of no concern.”

In the eyes of these high-and-mighty Vein Masters, a disciple’s choice was certainly important, but the balance of resources among the four peaks was even more so.

Except for geniuses of the highest caliber, whose wishes required a modicum of respect.

The other disciples, even those at the Eighth Layer, were just numbers in their eyes. It didn’t matter where they ended up.

The allocation continued.

The third was a core genius at the Ninth Layer, Ye Guyun.

“What about this one?” Gu Shan stared at Ye Guyun’s Jade Scroll, his gaze fervent.

This was the one second only to the twin prodigies, and a prospect he had to secure.

“Same old rules,” Moon Shadow said faintly. “We look at his choice first. If he chose one of our two peaks, we follow his choice. If not, if he chose one of their two peaks… then we draw lots to decide.”

“Agreed!” Gu Shan nodded.

As their Divine Thought probed the scroll.

[First Choice: Coiling Dragon Peak]

Gu Shan let out a long sigh of relief, a smile finally appearing on his face.

‘Good lad! All the effort this old man spent on him wasn’t in vain!’

When Ye Guyun was still a child, he had often guided his cultivation and had even given him many potent medicines for Body Refinement.

It seemed his investment had not been for nothing!

With Ye Guyun assigned to Coiling Dragon Peak.

Only four Eighth-Layer seeds remained.

They were Xiao Hongxiu, Lin Muyang, Long Yu’er, and Liu Yunfei.

Moon Shadow then spoke, her tone leaving no room for argument:

“Senior Brother Gu, you’ve taken a Ninth-Layer, who is worth more than even two Eighth-Layers. Of the four remaining Eighth-Layers, I will be taking three!”

Gu Shan hesitated for a moment, glanced at Ye Guyun’s scroll in his hand, and finally nodded. “Fine.”

He knew that if he didn’t agree, Moon Shadow would definitely make a scene.

Moon Shadow wasted no more words. Without even looking at their choices, she reached out and tapped three times:

“Long Yu’er, Xiao Hongxiu, and Lin Muyang. These three will join my Shadow Killing Peak!”

Long Yu’er had a powerful Divine Soul, making her suitable for Illusion Techniques and assassination.

Xiao Hongxiu and Lin Muyang were also nimble with their Body Techniques, a perfect match for Shadow Killing Peak’s style.

And so, only one person was left.

Liu Yunfei, who had entered as the tenth-place finalist from the Celestial Strategy Guard selection.

Gu Shan looked at the last, solitary Jade Scroll, his brow furrowing slightly.

‘From the Celestial Strategy Guard, is he…?’

He felt a flicker of instinctual aversion.

But then he remembered that the astonishingly brilliant Jiang Che also came from the Celestial Strategy Guard.

Besides, Liu Yunfei was at the Mid-stage of the Eighth Layer. In any previous year, he would have been a firm, first-tier pick.

“Oh well, even a mosquito leg is still meat.”

With a sweep of his large hand, Gu Shan gathered Liu Yunfei’s Jade Scroll into his possession.

“This disciple belongs to my Coiling Dragon Peak!”

With that, the seven great seeds were all assigned.

Spirit Void Peak: Jiang Che (Tenth Layer).

Heaven-Slaying Peak: Feng Wuji (Tenth Layer).

Coiling Dragon Peak: Ye Guyun (Ninth Layer), Liu Yunfei (Eighth Layer).

Shadow Killing Peak: Long Yu’er (Eighth Layer), Xiao Hongxiu (Eighth Layer), Lin Muyang (Eighth Layer).

The four peaks each had their gains.

While Coiling Dragon and Shadow Killing Peaks had missed out on the top-tier, Tenth Layer Great Perfection seeds, their other gains were substantial enough to be acceptable.

As for the remaining eighteen ordinary disciples at the Sixth and Seventh Layers.

The four Vein Masters couldn’t even be bothered to give them a second glance. They divided them up as casually as splitting cabbages, simply circling a few names to finish the process.

Lei Wanjun put away the Jade Scrolls and glanced toward the black mist opposite him, seemingly nonchalant.

“By the way, Sister Moon Shadow, I heard that a while ago, that disciple of yours from Shadow Killing Peak, Fu Yue, went to challenge Cao Ge?”

Cao Ge was the Ninth True Inheritor from Heaven-Slaying Peak.

Lei Wanjun tutted twice and shook his head, his tone dripping with false concern and mockery:

“It’s good for young people to be ambitious. But without the strength to back it up, it’s just reckless.”

“I heard that child Fu Yue had her foundation injured by Cao Ge? Is she alright?”

“Hmph.”

The black mist roiled, and Moon Shadow’s icy voice emerged from within:

“Senior Brother Lei, you should be more concerned about your own disciple, Cao Ge.”

“Fu Yue may have been defeated, but her Bone-Eroding Soul-Piercing Nail is nothing to scoff at. Cao Ge may have won and kept his position as the Ninth True Inheritor, but if he can’t completely purge that Bone-Eroding Poison Gas and it leaves behind a hidden injury…”

“Even with his cultivation at the Thirteenth Layer Peak of the True Master Realm, I’m afraid he won’t be able to hold on for long. Sooner or later, his Realm will fall!”
