Marvel: I Am The Lord of the Shadow Dimension

Chương 154: Chapter 154: Another Deal

  • Next Chapter

Inside the deafening stadium, tens of thousands of fans roared in a frenzy, chanting Johnny Blaze's name in unison. Luke and the Ancient One materialized silently near the back of the highest grandstands, blending seamlessly into the electric atmosphere.

Looking out over the cheering crowd, Luke noted with genuine amusement, "Well, the guy's undeniably a superstar."

The Ancient One stood calmly beside him, having sensibly swapped her traditional monk robes for casual civilian clothes to avoid drawing attention. Even so, her shaved head still made her stand out just a bit in the crowd.

They waited quietly at the back of the stadium, subtly sweeping the area with their magical senses, hunting for any trace of Mephisto's demonic signature.

Suddenly, a synchronized, deafening countdown erupted from the crowd, drawing their attention down to the field.

"One! Two! Three!... Forty-eight! Forty-nine! FIFTY!"

To the crowd's roaring delight, fifty gleaming luxury cars were driven onto the center of the field. They were meticulously parked shoulder-to-shoulder, forming a solid line that spanned the entire distance between two heavily reinforced stunt ramps.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" the announcer's energetic voice boomed over the speakers. "Today, our legend, the one and only Mr. Invincible, Johnny Blaze, will attempt to shatter the limits of human capability! He will launch his motorcycle across the entire length of this football field, clearing all fifty vehicles! If he survives this impossible jump, he'll break the world record and cement his legacy as the greatest stunt rider in history!"

The crowd erupted, their excitement spiking as they stared down at the terrifying line of cars.

However, Luke, observing the setup with a critical eye, noticed a concerning detail: the drivers of those fifty cars hadn't actually exited their vehicles.

"The show is about to start. Have you pinpointed Mephisto's signature?" Luke asked the Ancient One, tuning out the roaring crowd.

"Target acquired. He's right over there," the Ancient One replied calmly, discreetly pointing toward an exclusive VIP section near the field level.

Luke followed her gaze and instantly spotted him. Maintaining his sophisticated human guise, Mephisto was sitting comfortably in a VIP seat. He smiled politely and clapped along with the enthusiastic crowd, looking entirely indistinguishable from any other wealthy fan eager for the stunt to begin.

"He certainly seems to be enjoying the local entertainment," Luke smirked, his eyes narrowing as he quickly formulated an ambush plan. "Should we just stroll over and give him a little explosive surprise?"

"Patience," the Ancient One said, placing a gentle but firm hand on his arm. "We must let him awaken the latent power of the Ghost Rider dormant within Johnny Blaze first."

As they waited, the tension in the stadium reached a fever pitch. The announcer continued hyping up the impossible stunt. Finally, under the blinding glare of hundreds of spotlights, Johnny Blaze rode his heavily modified stunt motorcycle up to the starting ramp.

Down on the field, Mack—Johnny's long-time, perpetually stressed mechanic—approached him nervously.

"Johnny, listen to me," Mack yelled over the roar of the crowd, pointing desperately at the line of cars. "If you clear this jump... you're already recognized as the greatest stunt rider on the planet. You literally have nothing left to prove. You don't need to risk your life clearing fifty cars!"

Mack stared intensely at Johnny, his expression filled with genuine concern for his friend's life, not his fame. "Please, Johnny. Just tell the crew to move the cars."

Johnny stared back at Mack for a long moment. He knew perfectly well that amidst the thousands of screaming fans demanding a suicidal spectacle, Mack was one of the few people who genuinely cared whether he lived or died.

Johnny offered a faint, resigned smile. "Alright. Fine." He turned and gave the announcer a brief hand signal.

The announcer, clearly confused but professionally obliging, immediately instructed the fifty drivers to drive their vehicles off the field.

Watching the line of cars being slowly removed, the bloodthirsty crowd immediately began booing in profound disappointment!

Mack, however, let out a shuddering sigh of relief.

"Oh, thank God! You actually listened to me!" he cheered, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. "Now, if you accidentally under-rotate and land short... instead of crashing into a pile of solid steel, you'll just touch down on the nice, soft green turf..."

Before Mack could even finish his sentence, the stadium's massive retractable roof began sliding open.

Suddenly, six heavily armored UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters descended through the gap!

The deafening roar of their twin-turboshaft engines instantly drowned out the crowd's disappointed booing.

As the helicopters slowly lowered themselves into the center of the field, hovering directly in the flight path, the announcer's voice roared over the speakers!

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! JOHNNY BLAZE HAS CANCELED THE FIFTY-CAR JUMP! INSTEAD... HE WILL BE ATTEMPTING TO JUMP OVER SIX FULLY OPERATIONAL, HOVERING BLACK HAWK HELICOPTERS!"

The crowd went absolutely insane! The terrifyingly lethal upgrade instantly shattered their previous disappointment, replacing it with bloodthirsty euphoria. The sheer volume of the screaming was almost deafening.

Mack slowly turned his head to stare at Johnny, an expression of utter horror and profound betrayal on his face.

Johnny offered an innocent, characteristic smirk. "I moved the cars, just like you asked."

"Why didn't you tell me about this suicidal upgrade?!" Mack demanded, practically hyperventilating.

"Because I knew for a fact you'd be furious," Johnny replied logically.

Mack slapped his forehead in despair. Listening to the roar of the crowd and the terrifying, lethal chopping of the helicopter blades, he knew it was impossible to cancel the stunt now.

"Okay, look, I admit I occasionally enjoy a good spectacle... but I despise being an accessory to a highly publicized human sacrifice!" Mack yelled over the deafening noise. "Why in the world did you pick operational military helicopters?!"

Johnny stared past Mack, his gaze locked entirely on the spinning rotor blades. He showed no signs of fear or hesitation. Instead, his mind drifted to a deeply formative memory of his late father.

After a brief pause, Johnny replied softly, "Because my dad always thought they looked incredibly cool."

Mack paused, staring at Johnny's resolute focus. He sighed heavily, finally accepting the terrifying reality of the situation. "Yeah. He was right about that."

Knowing further argument was useless, Mack shifted into mechanic mode. "Alright, listen to me carefully. I need you to hit the throttle at exactly the midway point of the ramp! Do not accelerate early! If you hit it too early, you'll over-rotate, lose your aerodynamics, and you will die."

However, Johnny was clearly distracted, lost in his own thoughts. Mack sighed and turned away to quickly communicate with the ground crew.

But exactly as Mack turned his back... Johnny, entirely fixated on his impending date with his childhood sweetheart, Roxanne, twisted the throttle to the max!

He launched the motorcycle directly toward the ramp!

The entire stadium collectively gasped, shocked by the sudden, premature launch!

Mack spun around, staring in sheer horror as Johnny rocketed up the ramp. He instantly realized that Johnny hadn't built up enough velocity.

"He's doomed," Mack muttered in absolute despair, calculating that Johnny's current trajectory would slam him directly into the spinning rotor blades of the final helicopter.

However, high in the air, suspended above the terrifying rotors, Johnny calmly closed his eyes.

He didn't panic. He simply relied on his extensive muscle memory with the bike, intuitively sensing the chaotic wind currents buffeting him. With incredibly subtle micro-adjustments of his body weight, he smoothly altered the bike's aerodynamic profile mid-flight.

It was a literal miracle. Johnny's motorcycle seemed to practically glide through the chaotic air, defying gravity just long enough to safely touch down on the landing ramp!

The stadium plunged into a terrified silence for a fraction of a second... before erupting into a deafening roar of unadulterated triumph!

Tens of thousands of fans lost their minds, celebrating the flawless execution of the most dangerous stunt in history!

Johnny calmly removed his helmet, offering a practiced wave to the screaming crowd. He shot a quick, reassuring look toward a hyperventilating Mack, then simply twisted the throttle and rode his motorcycle straight out of the stadium.

"That was genuinely impressive," Luke noted, smiling appreciatively as he watched Johnny exit.

In his previous life, Luke had been a massive fan of extreme sports videos. He deeply respected the raw adrenaline and the sheer dedication required to push the limits of human capability. However, given the exhausting reality of his old life, he'd never had the opportunity to attempt anything remotely that dangerous.

Watching the flawless live performance had genuinely excited him.

The Ancient One offered a faint, amused smile. "It was undeniably a skilled physical feat. However, I suggest you rein in your excitement. We have a mission to complete."

Luke nodded, his demeanor instantly shifting from enthusiastic fan back to focused dimensional demon. He locked his gaze onto Mephisto, who was currently standing up and preparing to exit the VIP section.

"Alright. Let's start tracking the target," Luke stated, turning toward the exit.

Meanwhile, Johnny was racing his motorcycle through the city streets, desperately rushing to meet Roxanne at their designated restaurant.

At the same time, Luke and the Ancient One silently stepped into the Mirror Dimension. Luke enveloped them both in a dense aura of dark energy, perfectly masking their magical and physical signatures to guarantee absolute stealth as they tracked Mephisto.

They followed the demonic entity for several blocks until he casually strolled into a dark, secluded alleyway.

Waiting for him in the shadows was Blackheart.

Luke and the Ancient One watched the tense interaction unfold.

Blackheart arrogantly mocked Mephisto, declaring his intention to locate the legendary 'Contract of San Venganza'—a scroll containing a massive concentration of corrupted souls that Mephisto had previously lost on Earth. Blackheart claimed that absorbing those souls would grant him enough power to overthrow his father.

Mephisto, radiating cold malice, simply laughed dismissively. He casually revealed his intention to unleash the Ghost Rider to track down and assassinate his arrogant son.

Watching the incredibly toxic family dynamic, Luke turned to the Ancient One, genuinely puzzled.

"Why is he so obsessed with orchestrating this elaborate assassination for his own son? I mean... if your kid is acting out, shouldn't you just, I don't know, ground them for a month?"

The Ancient One shot Luke a very strange, highly judgmental look.

Luke rolled his eyes defensively. "Look, I know I don't have kids! I'm just referencing standard human parenting methods!"

"Well, your hypothetical childhood must have been incredibly... structured," the Ancient One replied dryly, failing to suppress a slight smile.

Returning to the matter at hand, she explained the complex mechanics of the Hell Dimension.

"Blackheart wasn't merely 'born'; he manifested possessing a significant fraction of the Hell Dimension's core authority. If Mephisto simply executes him, that authority will shatter, inflicting catastrophic, permanent structural damage to the entire dimension. That vulnerability is the only reason Blackheart believes he can openly defy his father."

"This entire convoluted scenario is an elaborate trap orchestrated by Mephisto," she continued. "The Ghost Rider's ultimate weapon is the 'Penance Stare,' which targets and incinerates the souls of the guilty. Currently, as a demonic entity, Blackheart doesn't possess a traditional 'soul'; therefore, he's immune to it."

"However... if Blackheart acquires the Contract of San Venganza and absorbs those thousands of corrupted souls, he will temporarily gain a soul matrix. At that exact moment, he'll become susceptible to the Ghost Rider's judgment. The Penance Stare will incinerate the absorbed souls and Blackheart's consciousness, leaving the core dimensional authority intact and ripe for Mephisto to reclaim."

"Damn. That is incredibly sinister," Luke nodded slowly, impressed by the ancient demon's ruthless plotting. "Mephisto is playing multidimensional chess while Blackheart is playing checkers. The son is hopelessly outmatched."

Suddenly, an ambitious, completely insane idea struck Luke.

"Wait..." Luke whispered, his eyes widening. "Hypothetically... what if we intercept the operation and steal Blackheart's dimensional authority for ourselves?!"

The Ancient One froze, staring at Luke in utter shock.

She carefully considered the insane proposition. "That is a remarkably bold, highly unorthodox strategy. I genuinely have no idea what the cosmic consequences would be."

"Could acquiring that authority theoretically grant us the power to permanently eliminate Mephisto?" Luke asked, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

The Ancient One's eyes gleamed with intense analytical focus. "If we successfully acquired a fraction of his core authority... it's theoretically possible we could use it to permanently unseat him."

While they debated the treasonous dimensional-coup, Mephisto exited the alleyway. Sensing the latent Hellfire energy burning within Johnny Blaze, Mephisto began slowly, deliberately walking toward Johnny's location.

The ancient demonic power that had remained dormant within Johnny for over a decade had finally integrated perfectly with his body. The Ghost Rider was ready to be unleashed.

Mephisto offered a sinister, satisfied smile. As he walked under the flickering streetlights, his shadow cast against the brick walls appeared distinctly hunched and demonic.

Meanwhile, entirely unaware of the cosmic forces converging on him...

Johnny was meticulously preparing for his highly anticipated date. He dressed in a stylish, expensive suit. Checking his watch, he realized he was running late.

Just as he was about to leave his apartment, an overwhelming wave of painful memories flooded his mind.

You must forget your closest friends. You must abandon your family. You must sacrifice your capacity for love.

Johnny staggered, his breath catching in his throat. He rushed to the sink, splashing freezing water onto his face, trying to shock himself back to reality.

Staring at his pale, stressed reflection in the mirror, Johnny pointed a finger at himself.

"You are allowed a second chance at a normal life! This reunion is a sign!" he commanded, using desperate self-hypnosis to suppress his lingering dread.

Feeling slightly more stable, Johnny grabbed his jacket.

However, as he exited the building, a faint, insidious mental compulsion drew him away from his intended path. Instead of walking toward his parked motorcycle, he found himself wandering aimlessly down a dark, deserted alleyway.

Suddenly, Johnny stopped.

Sitting perfectly illuminated under a flickering streetlamp was a customized, vintage motorcycle.

Johnny recognized it instantly. It was the exact motorcycle he and his late father had used during their stunt performances over a decade ago.

Why the hell is this bike parked here?

As Johnny cautiously approached the vintage machine, a shadowy figure stepped out from behind it.

"You!" Johnny yelled in unadulterated fury, instantly recognizing the man who had ruined his life. "Stay away from me!"

Mephisto completely ignored Johnny's outburst. He casually examined the vintage motorcycle with appreciation.

"This machine is still incredibly beautiful," Mephisto noted calmly, turning to face him.

"Why are you here?!" Johnny demanded, his fists clenched.

"Because..."

Mephisto didn't even get to finish his dramatic villain monologue.

A massive, pitch-black scythe blade erupted violently through his chest from behind!

Mephisto's eyes bulged in shock! He looked down agonizingly at the glowing dark energy blade protruding from his torso, before snapping his head backward.

"Surprise, Mephisto!" Luke cheered enthusiastically.

He yanked the scythe handle backward, dragging the impaled Hell Lord directly toward him!

Luke casually reached out and grabbed Mephisto by the throat. He squeezed slightly, confirming the density of the avatar. "Just as I suspected. Just another disposable physical avatar."

Mephisto glared at Luke with unfiltered cosmic hatred. "What exactly do you think you're doing?!"

Luke stared at the arrogant demon, irritated. He casually slapped Mephisto directly across the face!

"What do you mean, 'what am I doing'?! You literally deployed a demonic avatar to Earth a few months ago! I just haven't had the chance to extract my vengeance until now!"

Watching Mephisto's expression twist into apoplectic fury, Luke offered a deeply threatening smile.

"Be patient. The price you'll eventually pay for that transgression will far exceed this minor physical insult."

With a casual flex of his dark energy, Luke completely erased Mephisto's physical avatar, instantly reducing the demon to dissipating ash.

Luke then turned to Johnny, who was standing completely frozen, staring at him in mind-boggling shock.

Luke smiled warmly.

"Who are you?!" Johnny asked, profoundly stunned. This complete stranger had just effortlessly dispatched the terrifying entity who had haunted his nightmares for over a decade!

Seeing Johnny's confusion, Luke walked over and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"Please remain calm. That was merely a disposable avatar. We haven't permanently eliminated the primary entity yet."

Johnny's brief surge of hope evaporated. "Oh. Is that true? That's disappointing news."

Having regained his composure, Johnny looked closely at Luke. "So... who exactly are you? And why are you interfering with me?"

Luke smiled confidently. "I'm just a local resident of this planet. And I'm here to propose a mutually beneficial transaction."

"A transaction?" Johnny scoffed bitterly, shaking his head. "That's funny. The last guy who proposed a 'transaction' with me was that literal demon."

Luke chuckled, casually walking over to admire the vintage motorcycle. "I assure you, I am definitely not a demonic entity. Furthermore, I'm confident you'll find my proposal enticing."

Johnny crossed his arms defensively. "I seriously doubt it. I currently possess absolutely zero assets of any value."

"That is technically accurate," Luke agreed smoothly. "You currently don't own your own soul, and your destiny is controlled by a hostile entity. However... you do possess one incredibly valuable asset."

Luke stared intensely at Johnny, his dark energy senses clearly perceiving the massive, terrifyingly dense reserve of volatile Hellfire currently awakened within him.

"What asset are you referring to?" Johnny asked, suddenly feeling nervous under Luke's analytical stare. He instinctively buttoned his jacket.

Luke rolled his eyes slightly. "I'm talking about the incredibly powerful demonic energy Mephisto forcibly implanted into your body over a decade ago. It's fully active now. I need the tactical application of that power."

Johnny's eyes widened in shock, remembering that horrific night at the crossroads.

"You know about the curse?! You actually want it?! Then please, I beg you, extract it from my body and give me my freedom back!"

Luke shook his head slowly. "Unfortunately, safely extracting and utilizing that volatile energy requires a very rare biological affinity. I have zero desire to hunt down a suitable replacement host. It's significantly more efficient to simply employ you."

Luke stepped closer, his expression serious.

"Here is my offer. It's a straightforward, mutually beneficial transaction. You use that power to assist me with one specific mission. In return... I will help you permanently reclaim ownership of your soul and restore your normal life."

Johnny remained completely silent, intensely processing the impossible offer.

"I'm offering you the chance to safely be with your girlfriend again," Luke pressed gently. "You'll no longer be forced to isolate yourself from your friends and family. You'll be allowed to experience love again. Is that an acceptable outcome?"

Hearing the prospect of finally reclaiming Roxanne, Johnny's hesitation instantly vanished. He looked up, absolute determination shining in his eyes.

"What exactly is my first mission?"

Luke smiled broadly. "Incredibly simple. Your first mission... is to successfully complete your date."

Luke casually drew a Sling Ring portal directly behind Johnny and gently pushed him through.

Johnny stumbled into a small, brightly lit space.

"Where exactly am I?!" Johnny asked in confusion.

"You're currently in the men's restroom of the restaurant."

Luke opened the restroom door and stepped out. Johnny cautiously followed him into the main dining area.

Looking across the room, Johnny instantly spotted his childhood sweetheart, Roxanne. She was sitting alone at a table, looking bored and slightly annoyed as she waited for him.

"Go," Luke instructed, patting Johnny encouragingly on the back. "Go fix your past regrets. I'll contact you tomorrow to commence the operation."

Leaving Johnny to his highly anticipated reunion, Luke strolled casually across the restaurant to a quiet booth where the Ancient One was already seated.

"Did you order the appetizers yet?" Luke asked cheerfully.
