Marvel: I Made the SCP Foundation Real
Chapter 74 The Chaos Insurgency Reunified—A Special Item Upgrade Card
The situation in Raccoon City changed dramatically once Ophelia’s reinforcements began their offensive.
She deployed a total of 126 T-103 Tyrants into the city alongside her Chaos Insurgency forces.
With the Foundation’s air power suppressing the enemy, every major hostile facility was destroyed within the first fifteen minutes of the operation.
Command centers.
Radar stations.
Airfields.
Logistics hubs.
Assembly areas for heavy units.
Every one of them was bombed.
To reverse their defeat, the Spencer family and Blackwatch were forced to release every biological weapon developed by Umbrella’s Raccoon City facilities.
However, Umbrella’s B.O.W. program in this world remained underdeveloped.
Its Tyrants were still only experimental prototypes, while even the newer creatures developed through cooperation with Blackwatch were no match for Ophelia’s T-103s.
Under the overwhelming offensive led by Ophelia, the Spencer family and Blackwatch forces throughout Raccoon City retreated again and again.
To support her operation, the Foundation hadn’t merely supplied 126 Tyrants.
It also provided enough weapons and equipment to outfit an entire combined-arms brigade, along with twenty-four F/A-181 all-domain fighters and twelve E/A-181 electronic-warfare variants.
The scale of the support was enormous.
Nevertheless, the investment was worthwhile.
Securing Umbrella Corporation—an organization controlled by the Chaos Insurgency—would have justified the Foundation’s expenditure by itself.
Once Ophelia returned after her lengthy disappearance, Umbrella’s previously disorganized forces quickly declared their allegiance.
The Umbrella Security Service, an elite unit built at enormous expense, and the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service, the company’s regular response force, both firmly sided with her.
After Ophelia reversed the Spencer family’s offensive, reclaiming the rest of Umbrella became even easier.
Before launching the attack, Ophelia had received assistance from Yukikaze and 2B.
Together, they seized control of Raccoon City’s two primary Umbrella computer systems:
The Red Queen and the White Queen.
With both systems under her control, Ophelia gained complete awareness of everything happening throughout the territory she knew so well.
Umbrella’s internal conflicts had also intensified over the past several years.
Many influential members of the Chaos Insurgency were deeply dissatisfied with that decrepit old man, Spencer.
He was supposedly a member of the Chaos Insurgency, yet he had allied himself with outsiders like Blackwatch and the Twelve Round Table Council to seize control of their organization.
While Ophelia was absent, those people had been furious but afraid to speak.
Even when they surrendered their authority to the Spencer family’s loyalists, they remained secretly vigilant.
Others simply paid lip service to Spencer’s orders while refusing to obey him in practice.
The moment Ophelia announced her return, the entire situation shifted in her favor.
Nearly every Chaos Insurgency faction inside the city openly declared its support for her.
In only eight hours, Raccoon City’s chaotic and crumbling situation stabilized.
The Spencer family’s and Blackwatch’s forces were either surrounded and annihilated by Ophelia’s troops and Umbrella’s local forces, or scattered and fled from the city.
As for the zombies roaming Raccoon City, they were no match for the Chaos Insurgency.
Its personnel specialized in deploying biological weapons.
Umbrella had prepared extensively for the possibility of fighting mutated organisms, and Ophelia’s forces were equipped almost entirely with specialized antiviral ammunition.
Combined with the 126 Tyrants, their combat power was overwhelming.
The offensive could have progressed even faster.
However, Ophelia wanted to recover as many of Umbrella’s resources as possible and rejected her subordinates’ proposal to deploy heavy weapons capable of causing widespread destruction.
Inside his castle, the previously confident Oswell E. Spencer now received nothing but bad news.
The senior members of his Umbrella faction had descended into complete panic.
Then a large force of U.S.S. operators loyal to Ophelia arrived outside the castle.
Six UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters carried the assault force, while two AH-99 attack helicopters provided cover.
Six AGM air-to-ground missiles destroyed the castle’s air-defense systems before the helicopters began suppressing the defenders.
The U.S.S. operators aboard the six Black Hawks rappelled directly onto the walls.
They seized the elevated positions and began eliminating every enemy they encountered.
Ophelia lightly jumped from one of the aircraft.
Looking at the ancient castle whose outer defenses had already fallen, a victorious smile appeared on her alluring face.
“I’ve returned.”
Leah followed beside her, equally exhilarated.
A team of Chaos Insurgency guards accompanied them as they crossed a battlefield covered in flames, blood, and corpses.
The outer grounds had already been cleared.
When Ophelia passed through the castle’s perimeter and entered the courtyard, she encountered an officer fanatically loyal to Spencer.
Sergei.
He was a perfect host for the T-virus and a former Soviet military officer.
Using him as biological material, Umbrella had created its first experimental Tyrants.
The two prototype Tyrants standing beside Sergei were noticeably shorter than those Ophelia had deployed.
Even worse, their exposed hearts formed obvious weaknesses.
“Madame Ophelia, do you understand what you’re doing?”
“You’ll bring destruction upon the entire Chaos Insurgency!”
Ophelia responded to Sergei’s furious accusation with a contemptuous sneer.
“The Chaos Insurgency doesn’t belong exclusively to the Spencer family.”
“I’ve merely returned to reclaim what is mine.”
“I didn’t want to use force against you, Madame Ophelia.”
“But if that is your decision, allow me to show you my power!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the T-virus inside Sergei’s body began initiating a violent mutation.
Several gunshots interrupted him.
Large-caliber anti-materiel rounds struck the boastful Sergei and tore his body in half.
Additional rounds pierced the exposed hearts of the two prototype Tyrants.
The soldiers accompanying Ophelia immediately opened fire with E11-SR assault rifles.
Hundreds of T-virus-suppressing rounds riddled Sergei and the two experimental Tyrants with holes.
“Tsk. If that was all you had, why waste so much time talking?”
Ophelia stepped elegantly past Sergei’s body and the corpses of the two Tyrants.
A demolition team moved forward and blew open the castle doors.
Two assault teams immediately stormed the interior.
Approximately five minutes later, a report came over the radio.
“Area secure. All hostiles eliminated.”
Ophelia entered the castle.
Gunfire continued echoing through its corridors.
Chaos Insurgency personnel who had supported the wrong faction, senior members of the Spencer family, and the family’s private guards were eliminated one after another.
Screams and gunfire rang out continuously.
Every attempt at resistance was futile.
Against Ophelia’s elite troops and the U.S.S. units that had fully pledged themselves to her, the defenders couldn’t create even the slightest disturbance.
Ophelia eventually reached the castle’s final secured chamber.
Only Oswell E. Spencer and his most fanatical supporters remained.
Spencer lay in his wheelchair with a terrifyingly dark expression.
He stared fixedly at Ophelia.
“Umbrella is yours, Madame Ophelia.”
“The victor becomes king, while the defeated lose everything.”
“But I hope you’ll spare the younger members of my family.”
Ophelia looked coldly at the pleading old man.
“If I had lost, would you have spared my people?”
“The moment you made your choice, you had already lost, Spencer.”
Ophelia indifferently dropped one of her gloves onto the floor.
Muzzle flashes filled the chamber.
Umbrella Corporation’s last surviving founder disappeared into history.
Leah approached and whispered into Ophelia’s ear.
“Madame, our forces have begun recovering the company’s assets.”
“We also found this inventory, along with documents detailing the Spencer family’s cooperation with Blackwatch.”
“Leave them there. I’ll examine everything shortly.”
Now that she had completely reclaimed her authority, Ophelia smiled as warmly as a spring breeze.
“Perhaps I should call my dear Commander later.”
Far away in Manhattan, Ethan suddenly received a system notification.
[Side Mission completed: Assist Ophelia in regaining control of the Chaos Insurgency.]
[Rumor Points obtained: 100,000.]
[Special Item Upgrade Card obtained.]
“It seems everything went smoothly on Ophelia’s end.”
“Umbrella is ours.”
Ethan’s delight grew when he saw the reward.
He casually touched the military whistle hanging around his neck and revealed an enigmatic smile.
“An undying army, huh?”
“I’d really like to see it.”
