Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Unfair Fight

"All of you, come at me together."

As Daniel’s voice resonated throughout the arena, the crowd fell quiet for a brief moment, followed immediately by roaring laughter.

"Hahaha..."

Some were laughing so hard that tears started streaming down their faces.

"Who does he think he is? Calling them all out at once."

"At first I thought he’d last three seconds, but now I see I was wrong, one second at most."

Even up on the highest balcony of the arena, the Grandmaster nearly choked on his drink.

"I’m starting to like him." the Grandmaster said to the woman beside him.

Quill was laughing heartily as well. The more the crowd mocked Daniel right now, the happier he felt inside.

In the entire arena, only Valkyrie wasn’t laughing. She was speaking into a communicator with a dead serious expression.

"I know. I don’t care, I need the money, as much as you can give me."

"You think I won’t pay it back?" Seemingly getting into an argument with the person on the line, Valkyrie yelled, her face red and her neck tense. "Worst-case scenario, if I can’t pay, I’ll work for you for twenty years."

"Deal," the voice on the other end replied after a moment of silence.

"Got it done."

Valkyrie grinned and smacked Quill on the shoulder, sending him straight to the floor.

"You did good, kid. I owe you one." Valkyrie said before jumping right off the vessel.

The match had barely started, and the betting window was still open, so she had to hurry and get her bets down, or she’d never be able to pay back the guy she owed.

"What a maniac," Quill muttered after Valkyrie left. He rubbed his shoulder, which was already sore.

’Once I get the cash, I’m calling Daniel and getting the hell out of here.’ Quill thought viciously to himself.

........

On the battle floor.

"Pfft."

Man-Thing actually burst out laughing.

"Brat did your mom finally let you out of the house?" the fighter mocked.

Daniel looked to be in his early twenties, but his 6’5" frame didn’t seem nearly as imposing as the four massive fighters standing around him.

Daniel just grinned. "Keep talking. I’ll make sure you get a one-way ticket to the afterlife."

"You’re asking for it."

Man-Thing let out a fierce roar and charged straight at Daniel.

He might have looked like a hideous monster, but he wasn’t stupid. The other three had all claimed to be much stronger than before, and Man-Thing wasn’t confident he could take any of them on.

It was better to take out Daniel first. If Daniel was weak, killing him would build momentum and boost his own confidence.

If Daniel turned out to be somewhat decent, that was even better. The two of them could trade blows and drag things out, letting the remaining three fight to the death. Once those three were exhausted, he could step in and finish them off one by one.

As for Daniel being stronger than him? Man-Thing hadn’t even considered that possibility.

Impossible. Fighters at his level were incredibly rare, even across dozens of planets, there might only be one or two who could reach that level, and they weren’t exactly cheap or easy to come by.

At first glance, this "Cyclops" looked frail and fragile. Judging by his nickname, his eyes probably had some kind of special ability. As long as Man-Thing stayed alert and watched out for it, he should be fine.

"Brat I’m going to tear you apart!" Man-Thing bellowed as he charged at Daniel with tremendous force, though he was secretly holding back some of his strength.

He had always been extremely confident in his physical strength. If those other three hadn’t relied on their speed and technique to leap around like monkeys, how could they have ever beaten him?

’If you’ve got the guts, stand your ground and fight me head-on. I don’t care if I have to take two punches to land one.’ Man-Thing thought indignantly, recalling his past defeats.

"You’re way too slow. And what, did you skip breakfast? That punch is pathetic."

Daniel caught Man-Thing’s incoming fist with a single finger and stopped it dead.

"How is this possible?" Man-Thing gasped in disbelief.

He poured every ounce of strength he had into his arm, veins bulging across his body and muscles straining as if they were about to burst. Yet Daniel’s finger didn’t budge an inch. It was as immovable as a solid planet.

"RAAAAGH."

Man-Thing roared, swinging his other fist wildly towards Daniel.

"Weak and way too slow."

Daniel blocked it effortlessly as he spoke.

Speed had always been Man-Thing’s greatest weakness. To an ordinary person, he might have seemed incredibly fast, but against someone like Daniel, who could move far beyond the speed of light, Man-Thing’s movements were practically frozen in slow motion.

"You’re so weak."

Daniel actually let out a yawn.

The next moment, the world spun wildly before Man-Thing’s eyes as Daniel grabbed him by the leg and slammed him into the ground.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Two massive craters were smashed into the arena floor.

Daniel had to admit, this Hulk-style smash was really satisfying to pull off. Even if the damage output wasn’t maximum, it looked incredibly cool.

And looking cool was what really mattered.

The arena fell dead silent. It was as if an invisible hand had clamped around everyone’s throats, leaving the entire crowd speechless.

What had they just witnessed? Man-Thing was being slammed into the ground like a ragdoll, completely powerless to fight back.

The gamblers who had bet on Man-Thing clutched their chests, their hearts breaking in agony. They had expected him to finally get his revenge today, only for him to receive his ticket out of the tournament the moment he stepped into the ring.

"That looks like it hurt," the Grandmaster remarked, wincing sympathetically.

.......

"YES!!!"

Up above, Quill and Valkyrie both shouted at the same time.

The two high-fived, finally able to breathe easy again, and Valkyrie even threw her arms around Quill in excitement. If Daniel had lost, she would’ve been stuck working for the next twenty years, and she wouldn’t even have free drinks to show for it.

They hugged for a moment before suddenly making eye contact and immediately shoving each other away in disgust.

.......

"I’ll kill you."

Man-Thing looked pretty battered as he lay on the ground, but he hadn’t actually suffered any serious injuries.

After all, the arena floor wasn’t nearly as tough as his hide, and Daniel hadn’t used much force when he slammed him down.

Man-Thing’s body began to bubble as nasty lumps erupted over his skin. Surrounded by a foul stench and thick slime, he struggled back to his feet.

"I’m going to eat you alive!"

Man-Thing lunged at Daniel once again.

"Fuck, you’re so disgusting!"

Seeing Man-Thing’s current state, Daniel was utterly disgusted. He genuinely regretted touching him just moments ago.

He then aimed his palm directly at Man-Thing and began gathering a blinding white light.

Just as Man-Thing was about to collide with him, the light flared brilliantly, forcing everyone in the arena to close their eyes.

When they opened them again, where was Man-Thing?

Man-Thing was completely gone, and not even a speck of ash remained.

The crowd in the stands sank back into silence until Quill’s voice echoed from above.

"Cyclops! Cyclops!"

After a brief silence, spectators began rising from their seats one after another, waving their arms and shaking whatever they had in their hands as they joined the chant.

"Cyclops! Cyclops! Cyclops!"

Daniel realized he suddenly quite liked this feeling.

He closed his eyes for a moment, savoring the roar of the crowd before opening them again and turning toward the other three fighters still standing on the battlefield.

They had stopped fighting a long time ago and were now staring at Daniel in complete shock, none of them sure what to make of him.

"Come on, let’s play." Daniel gestured toward the three of them with his fingers.

Ares the God of War, Bi-Beast, and Beta Ray Bill exchanged a few quick glances. Ares was the first to step forward.

"To battle."

Bi-Beast and Bill followed immediately behind him.

The weapons and fists of all three fighters came crashing toward Daniel almost simultaneously.

For a brief moment, it was as though time itself had stopped.

Only a few milliseconds passed, then everything started moving again.

And when the motion resumed, Ares, Bi-Beast, and Bill were all sent flying backward at exactly the same time.

However impressive they looked charging in, they looked just as miserable crashing back out.

All three crashed into the reinforced walls surrounding the battlefield, their bodies sinking deep into the metal as enormous craters formed around them.

"Now that’s what I call a complete one-sided beatdown," Daniel said with a chuckle as he looked at the three buried in the walls.
