Chapter 419: Chapter 419 The Ancient One is Back

After the gathering, Hal Jordan didn’t delay and set off once again to return to Oa, discussing matters of alliance with the supreme leaders of the Green Lantern Corps, the Guardians, stating that Darkseid had already set his sights on Earth.

Once Earth was taken, the next target would be the Milky Way Galaxy, and after that, the entire Universe.

In short, if Earth was doomed, the Universe would be doomed along with it.

The Guardians felt this statement was a bit absurd.

Did he really think Earth was the center of the Universe?

How could the survival of a peripheral Planet possibly affect the operation of the entire Universe?

However, the duty of the Green Lantern Corps was to maintain order in the Universe, and they couldn’t just stand by and watch Darkseid wreak havoc, indicating that once Apokolips made any moves to attack Earth, the Green Lantern Corps would dispatch support at the first instance.

At this point, the Justice League had gained support from three parties: Paradise Island, Atlantis, and the Green Lantern Corps, which could be considered having the confidence to confront the army of Apokolips.

Before the arrival of the army of Apokolips, the members of The Seven all returned to their respective homes to continue farming monsters and leveling up.

Darian teleported back to the Gotham City Police Department, found Director Gordon, applied to end his administrative leave early, resumed taking daily missions, and requested that missions be issued remotely in the future without needing to punch in at the precinct every day.

Gordon had worked in the police department for half his life and had never heard of such an outrageous request.

He was just about to flatly refuse when the telephone on his desk suddenly rang. When he picked it up to listen, it turned out to be from his superior, stating that all requests from Officer Darian should be handled accordingly.

Gordon:  ̄□ ̄||

Did he accidentally stumble into a celestial realm?

Afterward, Darian directly dumped the daily missions onto Suicide Bomber Infantry No. 1 and Suicide Bomber Infantry No. 2, letting them handle it themselves.

Given the difficulty of these daily missions, it was more than enough for that bunch of villains.

Darian completely became a hands-off manager, and his days suddenly became leisurely.

Usually, he would tease cats at home, and occasionally when he felt bored, he would teleport to the Batcave to harass Bruce, annoying Bruce so much that he wanted to throw him out of the cave several times.

Besides that, Darian would also stroll around everywhere, incidentally activating various map teleports.

The only thing that made him somewhat regretful was that he still hadn’t found the coordinates of Paradise Island up to now.

Through this period of getting along, Diana had a deep understanding of Darian’s style, so she guarded against him strictly.

No matter how Darian hinted around, she refused to reveal even a shred of information, making Darian sigh about where the trust between people had gone.

After only a few days of such leisure, Darian suddenly noticed that the yellow crystal sealing Parallax wasn’t quite right.

He took it out to examine it closely; somehow, a few tiny cracks had appeared on the surface of the crystal, looming vaguely under the light.

Darian frowned, then immediately understood what was going on.

Just as Thaal Sinestro said before leaving, although Parallax was sealed, its power had not disappeared.

As long as there were still creatures capable of fear around it, it could continuously absorb those fearful emotions to replenish itself.

Especially in the city of Gotham, it lacked everything except fear.

After all, every night there was a bat-freak acting as an urban legend, spreading fear everywhere, working harder than the ghosts in horror movies.

Day after day, Parallax sealed within the crystal continuously accumulated power, and sooner or later, it would break out from this crystal again, just like when it broke free from Abin Sur’s seal back then.

Unless it was locked away in a desolate stellar region without any signs of life, Parallax would naturally be cut off from its channels for replenishing power.

But Darian did not do that.

Although he used the energy storage gem to absorb a lot of the power of fear, it was limited after all, and every bit used was a bit less.

But Parallax was different; it was the embodiment of fear itself, capable of continuously absorbing fearful emotions and converting them into power.

In other words, it was a nuclear power plant of the power of fear that would never run dry.

As far as Darian knew, the base camp of the Green Lantern Corps had a huge Central Battery, whose energy originated from the willpower of all things in the Universe, providing energy for all Green Lantern rings.

And Parallax’s energy source came from the fear of all things in the Universe, so he could similarly use this as a reference to modify Parallax into a Central Battery that could continuously replenish the power of fear.

Having made up his mind, Darian teleported to the Hidden Sea at the Center of the Earth, which was the location of the holy trident back then.

Finding a beach, he pulled out a scroll.

This scroll was precisely the reward he obtained from completing a mission not long ago: the Dual Four Symbols Seal, capable of locking evil power into a designated vessel.

Of course, Darian wouldn’t be foolish enough to use his own body as the sealing vessel.

Putting aside whether doing this was dangerous or not, furthermore, Parallax was a fear entity with self-awareness; he certainly didn’t want to have an audience watching a live broadcast when he was looking for Emma to do daily missions.

But if the vessel was too fragile, that wouldn’t do either; in case it was accidentally destroyed during battle and Parallax took the opportunity to escape, that would be troublesome.

After much deliberation, Darian finally decided to seal Parallax onto the magical White robe.

The magical White robe possessed the characteristic of never wearing out; no matter what kind of attack it endured, it wouldn’t be damaged, making it just right to serve as the sealing vessel for Parallax.

Darian immediately took out the magical White robe, placed the yellow crystal sealing Parallax on top of it, and then unfolded the scroll with both hands.

The next moment, countless runes swarmed out from the scroll, enveloping that yellow crystal and surging headfirst into the magical White robe.

Golden sealing patterns rapidly spread, covering the entire White robe, and finally shrank into a fist-sized circular rune, deeply imprinted on the surface of the robe.

Darian re-equipped the magical White robe, and as soon as his consciousness connected, he immediately felt an extremely vast space emerge before his eyes.

He could clearly feel that every inch of this space was controlled by him, the rules changed according to his will, and permissions were maximized.

Deep within this sealing space, the massively sized Parallax was imprisoned behind a fence.

Although the gaps in the fence looked very wide, even if it transformed into a black mist state, it was utterly unable to pass through the gaps.

Seeing Darian standing outside the prison, Parallax immediately understood that all of this was the other party’s doing.

It roared angrily: "Damn human! Where have you locked me up!?"

Darian said cheerfully: "Parallax, I want you to help me grow stronger; hand over your power of fear."

"Impossible!"

Parallax refused without hesitation.

It was the embodiment of fear itself; how could it submit to a human?

Darian wasn’t angry either; he waved his arm casually.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Thunder suddenly sounded, and several bolts of lightning struck down from above the sealing space, crashing straight onto Parallax’s body.

"Ahhh!"

Parallax let out a miserable scream, its entire body trembling violently in the lightning.

When the lightning light dissipated, it collapsed limply on the ground, its eyes filled with an expression of utter disbelief.

"How is it possible... I actually feel pain?"

Darian explained with a smile: "I am the Master of this sealing space, and the rules here are set by me. If I want you to hurt, you have to hurt; if I want you to feel comfortable, you can feel comfortable."

"One last question: will you hand it over or not?"

Parallax roared: "Don’t even think about it! You think this bit of physical suffering can make me yield!?"

"Good! You’ve got guts!"

Darian smiled slightly: "Since it’s like this, then you can slowly enjoy yourself here."

Finished speaking, he didn’t hesitate a bit, turning around and leaving directly.

Right beside Parallax, there suddenly appeared muscular Parallaxes even larger than Parallax itself, covered in muscles. They took off their glasses and showed a friendly smile towards Parallax.

Muscular Parallax: (5)つ— mouth— mouth Parallax: (\°A{°{°A{°)!?

Don’t you guys come over!

The next moment, the consciousness space emitted a burst of miserable wails, heartbreaking to listeners and moving to tears for those who heard it.

Darian ignored this.

He didn’t expect this fellow to cave in after just a few moves anyway; anyway, he had plenty of time, and he could just grind slowly.

Main Server!

Darian left the DC Universe server and returned to his most familiar Marvel Universe.

As soon as he landed, he took a deep breath of air, and his whole person felt much more refreshed.

Darian sighed: "The environment on this side is still more comfortable to stay in. DC is too dark; it feels like it’s covered with a pitch-black filter, and staying there too long would make one depressed."

The first thing upon returning to the main server was that Darian teleported directly to Kamar-Taj, heading straight for the library.

Times were different now; his mental attribute had already increased to 120 points.

Most of those high-level magic books that originally couldn’t even be opened could now have their reading permissions unlocked, and as for those lower-difficulty magic spells, the chanting time was almost short enough to be neglected.

Darian tried reading a high-level magic book and found that not only were there no restrictions preventing him from reading it, but the chanting time was only a day or two, which was so much better than before.

However, there were still some spells that remained unreadable.

For example, the Shield of the Seraphim, Cyttorak’s Crimson Bands, and the teleportation magic most commonly used by the Kamar-Taj mages.

These spells all drew from the origin power of various Dimensional Demon Gods. People like Darian who had no ties, having not established contract relationships with any Dimensional Demon God, naturally had no way to learn these spells.

Unless he could be like the Ancient One, directly freeloading the power of those Dimensional Demon Gods.

Darian rubbed his chin: "Since I can freeload the Beast Power of Black Sky, it shows I can similarly freeload the power of other Dimensional Demon Gods. If I freeload all the Dimensional Demon Gods once over, wouldn’t my strength be able to instantly catch up to the Ancient One, or even be stronger than the Ancient One?"

But after thinking about it, he still gave up this incomparably tempting thought.

During his stay in the DC Universe server, he flipped through all relevant materials of the Marvel series, gaining a relatively clear understanding of the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One.

The reason the Ancient One was able to freeload the power of various Dimensional Demon Gods and hadn’t been beaten to death yet was, on one hand, because her own strength was top-notch, but more importantly, because Eternity stood behind her.

That figure was the big shot among big shots.

What Dimensional Demon Gods, in front of It they were just a fart.

No, not even as good as a fart.

With a big shot like Eternity backing her up, the Ancient One naturally could unscrupulously freeload the power of other Dimensional Demon Gods.

One might ask, which Dimensional Demon God dared to look for trouble with her?

But Darian didn’t have a big shot shielding him. His success in freeloading Black Sky’s Beast Power was purely exploiting a loophole, plus the Beast, the source of Black Sky’s power, wasn’t some top-tier demon god and didn’t even dare to come to the reality dimension, which was why it didn’t invite any trouble.

If he dared to learn from the Ancient One and freeload everywhere, setting his sights on Dimensional Demon Gods of Dormammu’s level, it probably wouldn’t take a few days before a group of Dimensional Demon Gods would team up to come check the water meter.

Of course, this didn’t mean he couldn’t touch them in the future.

Once his strength rose to another level, picking some easy-to-bully Dimensional Demon Gods to freeload wasn’t out of the question.

Darian restrained his mind and body, and immediately plunged into long-term studying.

"Let’s grind away!"

The unlocking of the chat group feature gave him quite a few more ways to pass the time outside of studying.

Between turning book pages, messages popped up in the group from time to time.

The members of The Seven usually guarded their respective cities. Although they didn’t meet often, communication in the group had never stopped.

Especially Barry and Hal, who chatted the happiest, flooding the group chat with various messages every day as if they had no lives of their own.

That moron Hal even researched meme literature himself, turning various pictures of the members into memes and posting them into the group, among which there were even memes of Bruce.

[Batman’s disapproving gaze].jpg

Awesome!

Darian exclaimed that he had truly underestimated Hal.

When it came to the ability to court death, Hal was not a bit worse than Wade.

Aside from the group of The Seven, there was also quite a bit of private messaging.

For example, Emma would live-stream some outfit matching content to Darian from time to time, asking for suggestions.

Every time, Darian would watch carefully with a critical eye, stating that the video image wasn’t very clear and details couldn’t be seen clearly, saving it for later when he went over personally to observe closely before giving professional commentary.

Just like that, time slipped by day after day amidst the sound of turning book pages and the notification sounds of group chats.

After about a week or so, Darian closed the high-level magic grimoire in his hand. Just as he was about to flip through the next one, he suddenly noticed that a note had appeared on the tabletop at some unknown time.

[I’m back. Come to my place after you finish reading; I have something to discuss with you.]

Darian was not unfamiliar with this handwriting; it was precisely the Ancient One’s handwriting.

Yeah, the hairless one.

Seeing the content of this note, the corners of his mouth slowly split open, the curve gradually spreading towards his earlobes.

"Ancient One, you’ve finally returned, heh heh heh!"

Darian decisively put down the grimoire and immediately sprinted toward the Ancient One’s meditation hall.

Arriving at the door, he pushed it wide open and shouted excitedly: "Master Ancient One, I’m here!"

The long-unseen Ancient One was sitting upright in the center of the hall, dressed in a plain robe with a peaceful expression.

Seeing Darian barge in, a faint smile appeared on her face.

"You’ve finally come."

Darian had just wanted to say some pleasantries when his gaze swept downward, and his whole person suddenly froze.

On the ground beneath the Ancient One, there was impressively left a pool of blood, which looked quite substantial. ℴ

Darian instantly widened his eyes: "Master Ancient One, you... you actually haven’t reached menopause yet!?"

Ancient One: "....."
