Master of Fangcun

Chapter 215: Ascending Mount Buzhou

“I still haven’t found a way to deal with the Ten Suns in the Sky or the Strange Blue Moon. I have to fly as far away as possible before the transformation of heaven and earth arrives.”

Having already experienced it once before, Li Shun was much bolder this time.

After all, no matter how riddled with strange phenomena the primordial wilderness was, the Outer Gods were unquestionably among the highest tier of existences.

Li Shun had already encountered an Outer God.

How much worse could anything else possibly be?

With nothing weighing on his mind, Li Shun focused solely on flying.

He searched for the Divine Mountain that could appear within his field of vision at any moment.

The farther west he traveled into the Wilderness of Wuqi, the colder Li Shun felt.

It was not that the temperature of heaven and earth itself was falling. Rather, waves of frigid wind continuously howled in from the west.

The wind was bitterly cold, carrying an intense killing intent.

Even with his protective spell covering him, Li Shun's skin was sliced by the wind until it throbbed with pain.

If this had been his first expedition, Li Shun would certainly have slowed down out of caution.

But this time, he did the exact opposite.

Not only did he fail to slow down, he accelerated his flight even further.

The wind cut against him like blades. Before long, Li Shun's entire body was covered in blood.

Yet he paid it no heed and continued forward.

These were merely physical injuries. They would not truly threaten his survival.

It was only when the transformation of heaven and earth began and the Ten Suns appeared in the sky that Li Shun was forced to stop and rest.

Along the way, within the vast and empty Wilderness of Wuqi, he discovered several of those enormous footprints he had encountered previously.

At least he did not have to worry about finding somewhere to hide and rest.

The Ten Suns and the Blue Moon appeared one after another, and the phenomenon continued for seven days.

During those seven days, Li Shun did not completely abandon his plans to venture outside.

Instead, he attempted to find a way to deal with it.

After all, there was a possibility that he might descend into the primordial wilderness a third time, or even a fourth. If every transformation of heaven and earth forced him to waste seven days, his exploration efficiency would simply be far too low.

“The heat of the Ten Suns and the cold of the Blue Moon are actually directed primarily at the soul.”

“As long as I can protect my soul, I should be able to travel through them without obstruction.”

Most of Li Shun's body remained hidden within the shadows. Only one arm extended outside as he experienced the might of heaven and earth.

He was attempting the simplest and most crude method possible, using it to train his own “resistance” to the abnormalities of heaven and earth.

It was much like how Shentu Xin's phantom had previously soaked in the Heavenly Dao Severance Qi.

The hand extending beyond the shadow of the cavern was subjected to what felt like the cruelest torture imaginable.

When Li Shun's instincts urged him to pull it back, he used a spell to firmly fix his arm in place.

He allowed it to endure the scorching rays of the Ten Suns and the frigid illumination of the Blue Moon.

For those seven days, Li Shun was like a prisoner trapped in an endless hell, constantly switching between the torment of extreme cold and unbearable heat.

“If only I could summon the Fangcun space even within this primordial wilderness illusion.”

“Then why would I need to suffer like this? I could simply hide inside Fangcun and ignore all this pain.”

Amid his torment, Li Shun could only amuse himself with such thoughts.

It was not as though Li Shun had some strange fondness for torturing himself.

The reason he managed to endure those seven days, aside from wanting to make the most efficient use of the remaining time within the primordial wilderness illusion, was because he had indeed discovered benefits brought about by this near-torturous ordeal.

“The Ten Suns and the Blue Moon are both manifestations of the creative might of heaven and earth.”

“The Great Dao numbers fifty, yet Heaven Derives Forty-Nine. What appears to be a dead end, where exposure means certain death, still contains a single thread of life hidden within the unseen.”

“If I can continue surviving even in such a desperate situation...”

Li Shun gradually sensed that the damage inflicted upon him by the Ten Suns and the Blue Moon was becoming weaker and weaker.

This was not some illusion caused by enduring prolonged torture.

At the beginning, Li Shun's consciousness had been almost completely consumed by pain. He could not even form any other thoughts.

But gradually, he began to regain the ability to think about other matters.

This discovery filled Li Shun with considerable relief.

At least his suffering had not been in vain.

Of course, expecting to develop genuine “resistance” in a mere seven days was obviously wishful thinking.

Li Shun still could not forcibly fly beneath the blazing Ten Suns or the frigid Blue Moon.

Thus, only after seven days, when the abnormal phenomenon finally dissipated, did Li Shun continue his journey.

This time, however, he discovered that he was no longer affected by those strange footprints.

“So, once I manage to break free from their influence, I won't be bewitched by them again.”

Li Shun's spirits soared, and he increased his flying speed once more.

He had not flown for long before he noticed that his body seemed lighter than before.

It felt much like when he had consumed the meat of the Yuhu Beast.

His thoughts raced, and Li Shun immediately understood.

Previously, whether it was the Ten Suns or the Blue Moon, what they altered was the entirety of heaven and earth.

It was as though the whole world had been boiled or frozen solid. Naturally, living within it made it difficult to move even a single step.

Now that heaven and earth had returned to normal, Li Shun had already grown somewhat accustomed to that apocalyptic environment.

As a result, everything suddenly felt much easier.

“In short, I can summarize it with one sentence.”

“I have become stronger.”

“This strength is reflected in my soul, spirit, and will. Even though this place is merely an illusion, it remains genuinely effective for me.”

“Even if Threefold Self-Reflection rewinds and resets the world, the effects remain.”

“As expected of the primordial wilderness of ancient times. Even its disasters are tremendous opportunities.”

Li Shun gazed at the unknown world surrounding him, and his anticipation gradually grew.

He flew westward for more than twenty days.

It was only when Li Shun had begun to think that he would have to return empty-handed that a Divine Mountain stretching from heaven to earth suddenly entered his field of vision.

The mountain had not been broken in half.

Yet there were no signs of living creatures inhabiting the area around its foot.

“The bitterly cold wind I've been sensing all this time also mysteriously disappeared after I entered the mountain's territory.”

“Perhaps this is an overlapping of different regions across different spaces and times.”

Li Shun secretly pondered the matter.

He still could not determine whether the Divine Mountain before him was the legendary Mount Buzhou.

Without the slightest hesitation, he descended to the ground and planted his feet firmly upon the earth.

Then he began climbing toward the summit.

Unlike Mount Buxian, this mountain actually had a set of steps that had already been carved out.

Li Shun followed the stone staircase and climbed steadily upward.

This mountain was nearly twice as tall as Mount Buxian.

This time, it took Li Shun a full seven days to barely reach the summit.

At the peak stood a magnificent and solemn golden gate.

And outside that gate stood an enormous figure.

The figure possessed a human face and the body of a bird, while his entire head was covered in long, deathly white hair as pale as frost and snow.

A writhing venomous snake hung from his left earlobe.

Beneath his feet were two enormous dragons, one crimson and the other azure.

In his hands, the figure held a massive battle-axe of immaculate purity.

He had apparently been dozing off.

But the instant he sensed someone's arrival, his eyes suddenly snapped open.

“Hm?”

“A mortal actually made it to the Buzhou Heavenly Gate?”

The figure was quite surprised. He looked Li Shun over with considerable curiosity.

The feeling was completely different from what Li Shun had experienced when encountering the Outer God.

There was none of that icy sensation of his entire will being completely occupied.

Instead, Li Shun felt that the being before him was merely a powerful cultivator or perhaps a powerful yao beast.

“May I ask the honorable deity's name?”
