Chapter 606: Until We Meet Again

(Author’s POV)

Myra’s body went rigid when she realised that the thoughts belonged to Fabian and the girl he kept mentioning was none other than her. Her eyes trembled as she traced those glowing words with her fingertips. She felt as if lightning had struck her.

Her steps quickened, and her eyes scanned the walls erratically.

The letters that appeared afterwards turned yellow again:

’They have sensed her presence. They are searching for her. I must not let them get near her.’

’Today, she told me everything. But she still sees me as a friend. But I won’t lose to those animalistic monsters. I have to keep an eye on all four of them.’

’My grandpa~ ... we had an argument. Then, he had the accident. He is in danger. I am scared of losing him.’

’They~ ... they saved his life, but he is still in danger. I am so useless. I couldn’t do anything for him and could only wait.’

’I was busy with work all day. I couldn’t meet her today. I wish to see her. I miss her.’

These kinds of sentences went on and on until Myra’s hazels fixated on one particular one.

’She is missing. She is not answering her phone. I have a bad feeling. I need to find her before anything can happen to her.’

’We found her. She was attacked and was severely injured. It was the vampires. I have to see whose clan was behind those people.’

’They all know about her now. I must act fast. I can’t let them take away from me. She is mine.’

’She is in the hospital. Seeing her like that ached my heart. I swear I won’t let anything happen to her.’

’I don’t want revenge. I don’t want anything else. I want her~ ... to be by my side, always.’

’I am never giving her up. Once she gets out of the hospital, I will confess my feelings to her. She will surely give me a chance.’

’I asked her to go with me to my secret house. The arrangements have been made. I am finally going to tell her my real feelings.’

Myra was very sure now. It was about her. ’So, Fabian likes me~ .... romantically ...’ She pressed her lips into a thin line, but her steps never halted. She recalled the time after she had been discharged; Fabian had taken her to a beach house. Then, he had told her he just wanted to take her somewhere nice to lift her mood and get some fresh air. But now she knew what it was about. He planned to confess that day.

"That’s why he kept on behaving weirdly that day," she mumbled to herself and kept walking.

The end of the tunnel was nearing, so her steps quickened. Then the lines changed again to black and red.

’Grandfather~ ... this time I saved you. Myra~ ... I~ ...’

The words didn’t finish, but the tunnel did. Myra walked out to find herself in a heaven-like atmosphere. The surroundings were covered with clouds, or was it dense ivory mist? She wasn’t sure. But nothing was clearly visible here.

Then an all too familiar sound echoed, "Myra~ .... you are here."

She narrowed her eyes at the person standing in front of her and called his name, "Fab~ian."

Fabian smiled brightly at her, his eyes crinkling. "You really are here."

"What is this place?" Myra questioned.

"You already know the answer, don’t you?" he smiled even more. It seemed almost unnatural.

"Did you bring me here?" she asked. He kept mum, but Myra understood his answer.

"Why?" she inquired, confused.

"I wanted to tell you something," he said; his smile remained, but Myra noticed the curve of his eyes drooping a little.

"You could have told me in person," Myra uttered, taking a step forward. "Why here?"

"I couldn’t. Not anymore~ ..." his smile turned sorrowful.

Myra’s eyes widened. "What do you mean?" She took a step closer.

Fabian sighed. "Myra~ ... you know my heart already," he started.

Myra’s footsteps stopped midway as she hitched her breath. Fabian continued, "You saw it all~ .... I have~ ... liked you for a very long time. At first, I approached you with an ulterior motive. But I never wanted to harm you. I just wanted to take revenge for my parents’ death."

Her fists tightened as she asked, "Revenge? On whom?"

"On the werewolves. They were the ones who killed my mom and dad," he told her.

Myra’s creased brows smoothed. "You mean the Everests were the ones behind your parents’ death?"

"At that time, I thought they were. But later I found they had nothing to do with it," Fabian said. He lowered his face as silence fell between the two. Only the sound of birds chirping resonated in the air.

Myra didn’t speak, just kept looking at his profile.

After a while, he lifted his head, locking his ambers on her hazels and spoke again, "Myra, I have been burying these feelings for quite a long time. I just wanted you to know it all for once."

"But Fabian~ ..." Myra wanted to say something but was interrupted by him.

"No, don’t. Don’t stop me. I might not get another chance. I want to lay it all out in front of you." his voice turned a little hoarse. "I don’t know when exactly these feelings started cropping up inside me. But one thing I know for sure is that they are genuine. Whenever I close my eyes, I see you smiling at me, caring for me. And when I am awake, your thoughts fill my mind. Since the day I met you, there hasn’t been a day when I haven’t thought about you. Myra Miracle, with utmost sincerity, I~ ... Fabian Stephens, confess my feelings towards you .... I~ ... love you and will always love you."

The moment he said those words, his body started to fade.

Myra ran towards him, asking, her voice trembling, panicking, "Fab~ ... Fabian, what is happening to you?"

Fabian’s smile never left his lips. He extended his hand, trying to touch her, but it passed through her completely. "I think it’s time."

"Time for what?" Myra was at her wits’ end, her eyes reddening.

"Time for me~ ... to start the new innings of my life. And for you to wake up~ .... Goodbye, Myra Miracle~ ... Until we meet again. Choose me, then."

With those final words, his body dissipated into the air.
