Max-Level Comprehension: I Create Magic in the Apocalypse
Chapter 36: Do you believe in magic?
Currently, there were thirty people in the room excluding him, Elena, Alfred, and Ethan.
However, right now, everyone including his daughter Emilia had a red dot on her chest.
Instantly everyone fell silent; they seemed to once again remember that this was the same Christian Smith who had made his name during the war, defending his country.
Looking at him in his seat, no one dared to say anything for fear of being shot.
"Haha, Brother, calm down, even if this is a joke, aren’t you taking it too far?"
"We’re all family here; pointing a gun at us, do you really want to tarnish your name and be a kinslayer?"
Speaking nervously, George felt his brother really meant to kill them.
A situation which he didn’t want to believe, however, the murderous intent in Christian’s eyes could not be faked.
Because of that, he had no choice but to try to calm him down.
’Tch... how could this happen, why didn’t anyone tell me the family guards had moved?’
’Also where is my own security? Did Brother plan this from the very start?’
Filled with worry, George struggled to maintain his calm.
You know, apart from his brother, his words were almost law in the Smith family, with his followers accounting for a good share of the family.
However, despite that, not only was the security he stationed outside drawn away, but he was being pointed at with a gun at.
Filled with disbelief, he looked toward Christian with shock in his eyes.
Unfortunately, all he was met with was a smile from his aging older brother.
"Brother George, when was the last time you called me that?"
"But then again, it doesn’t really matter."
"Because like I said earlier, everything I say now is not a suggestion, but an order."
"For years, the Smith family has been in steady decline, with few helping grow the family name and the majority of you just flaunting your power, being reckless."
"Even that idiot you mentioned earlier, Leroy, do you know his name was being used to bully some high school girls?"
"You should all be ashamed."
"And you, Emilia, are you doing your job as the head of the disciplinary committee? Why did I have to step out and arrest people like that myself?"
Taking a look at the Smith family around him, Christian couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
He wondered when it had started, when the Smith family had started to fall.
Around him was not the Smith family he grew up with when he was young, the Smith family who strove every day to carve their place in the world.
Now, all that remained were people who fought for power, unaware that the power they so desperately sought was being diminished right in front of them.
’Fortunately, it’s not like everything is without hope.’
Taking a look at Ethan, Christian’s worries finally lessened a bit.
With the strength shown by his grandson, and the danger of the future he spoke about, perhaps all this could change the situation.
Perhaps this was what he needed to put the Smith family on the right track!
And to do that, he, as someone from the old era, needed to help Ethan clear the way.
’Even if I end up being labeled as a sinner after this, as long as it saves the Smith family, then what is a little blood on my hands?’
Firming up his determination, Christian began to speak.
"A new era is about to descend on the Blue Star as we know it, and to prepare for that, my grandson Ethan is going to be the new patriarch."
"Now I’ll let him explain what I’m talking about."
"However, everyone remember this, if any of you dare to make things difficult, for the future of the Smith family, don’t blame me for being ruthless," said Christian.
And Ethan, suddenly being called to make a speech, couldn’t help but be shocked.
This was something he hadn’t thought about, nor had he planned.
’Grandpa, what the hell is going on, couldn’t you have at least given me a heads-up!’
’At least then I would have had enough time to plan things through.’
Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, Ethan inwardly called out to his grandpa.
However, he didn’t blame him too much.
After all, he was not dumb.
From what had just happened, he could tell a lot of things.
Along with his orders, the battle with Marcus and his attack on the Clown Gang, Christian should probably have ordered Alfred to do more research and search for any related news.
’From Grandpa’s behavior, it’s obvious he found something important.’
’Something that made him feel like there was no time; otherwise he wouldn’t have resorted to such means to hand over power in the Smith family.’
Knowing his grandpa, Ethan was sure that something had to have happened.
However, he couldn’t figure out what it was.
In his past life, he was too focused on his company and other things, so he had no outside information on what happened when the apocalypse was about to start.
The only things he knew were bits and rumors from his wandering life as an unawakened.
’It seems after this, I need to have a serious discussion with Grandpa.’
Thinking this, he looked at the heads of the Smith family, people whose names could shake the world just by stepping outside.
However, now they would all have to listen to him.
For such a situation, he knew that even if they were threatened by his grandpa’s weapons, unless he managed to truly convince them, they would never really follow him as they all had pride.
And his Grandpa probably knew this too; perhaps this was part of a test for him? Ethan wasn’t sure.
The only thing he was sure of was that whatever he did next could very well spell out the rise or fall of the Smith family.
So with that in mind, he stepped forward with a smile on his face.
"Uncles and aunts of the Smith family..."
"Do you believe in magic?"
