Max-Level Comprehension: I Create Magic in the Apocalypse
Chapter 41: Bloody Skies!
[Emerald City, Smith Shelter]
Meanwhile, while Ethan and the others were looking forward to the apocalypse, deep in the shelter, in a hidden room, Christian was completing the last of his preparations for the new Smith family.
"Brother! What is the meaning of this? You can’t do this!"
"If anyone finds out, you’ll be labeled as a tyrant for all eternity!" yelled George.
Roaring in disbelief, voices full of shock and despair could be heard in the room from time to time.
At this time, after his investigation, Christian had identified the family members he felt he couldn’t take with him into this new era to avoid affecting them.
Now tied up, thirty Smith members could only kneel and plead helplessly as guns pointed at their heads from all sides.
"George, you might be my brother, but unfortunately you went too far this time."
"Not only you, but all of you did."
Looking down at his brother, Christian had no emotion in his eyes.
Surrounded by the guards he had ordered beforehand to execute these people, his heart didn’t waver once.
As a person who had pride in his word, once Christian had decided something, there was no going back.
"In fact, had it just been that you lot were greedy for power and tried to get some positions, that wouldn’t have been an issue."
"But secretly hoarding supplies, secretly gathering weapons and personnel..."
"Trying to spread out hidden information without notice..."
"All these acts are enough to classify as treason, or did you not listen to my grandson that day?"
Roaring angrily, Christian was disappointed.
Even though he had planned to purge some Smith family members if they dared to make trouble, he never thought they’d jump out so early.
From watching their plans, it was even more obvious that they planned to launch a rebellion once the apocalypse started and plant George as the patriarch.
Perhaps they would have even done it since, but they needed to verify Ethan’s power.
"Had I not decided to follow and track every member of the family, I wouldn’t have even known, and you all might have succeeded in destroying the family."
"Unfortunately, there are no second chances in reality."
Looking down on them again, Christian had no emotion in sentencing them to their deaths.
"Die, all of you! And in your next life, don’t be so greedy!"
Saying this, Christian raised his hand, giving the signal for them to shoot.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Shot after shot, the room was soon filled with the sound of gunshots and blood on the floor.
In a matter of seconds, his white shoes were completely red from blood, and the smell of iron filled the air.
However, he didn’t care for any of this.
"Alfred, arrange for them to clean this up."
"And if anyone asks where they went off to, say they probably left the shelter before the apocalypse."
"I’m going to change my clothes, then step outside to meet my grandson."
Waving his hand, after confirming every one of them was dead, Christian left the room, leaving the guards and Alfred alone.
"For the Smith family!"
"For the Smith family!"
They yelled, watching the former patriarch clear the road for the current patriarch.
......
Four hours is not a long time, especially when you’re waiting for the end of the world to come.
At this moment, it was a few seconds to the apocalypse.
More and more people had come out of the shelter and the established homes, each wanting to see just how the world was going to change.
In the air, drones with screens floated, displaying the latest worldwide news, ready to cover any information that developed abroad.
"Haha kid, aren’t we going to be in serious trouble if this apocalypse doesn’t come?"
"To achieve everything we have now, we practically hollowed out most of our foundation."
"Plus the people from the villages we moved to help us farm, the government is already pressing on our necks."
"If it doesn’t come, we, the Smith family as a whole, might be finished."
"Haha!"
Ruffling Ethan’s hair, Christian, who had come out of the shelter, joked.
However, his words were indeed true; to get all the supplies and people they had today, they had seriously affected the country’s economy.
Not only that, but they had even committed several crimes in the process.
The reason why the area where they were currently was not raided by the government was that for such a large-scale mission, they needed to move the army.
And to get permission for that, it wasn’t a simple matter of weeks or months.
It was only knowing this that the Smith family behaved as unscrupulously as they did.
Now with seconds to go, Christian couldn’t help but wonder, what if?
"Don’t worry, Grandpa, there is no such thing as ’what if.’"
"In fact, it’s already started!" he said as he sensed the surrounding turbulent mana.
Boom!
Following Ethan’s words, the ground began to shake.
In a matter of seconds, the earth began to rapidly expand.
The sky turned blood-red, and the sun dimmed.
Not only that, but people around began to drop one by one as the intense mana began to drill into everyone, rapidly affecting their bodies.
"Argh!!! Help!"
"Somebody! Help, what is going on!"
"Argh! Patriarch! What is this!"
Screams soon resounded through the shelter and the world as a whole.
Only Elena and Christian, who had a higher threshold for pain, didn’t shout; however, the veins on their heads showed how much trouble they were experiencing.
’So it’s started! The awakening!’
Whispering in his mind, Ethan knew what was happening.
This was the deciding moment for most of mankind.
With the infusion of this mana, there were only three possibilities:
One, turn into a mindless monster;
Two, awaken an ability and become an evolver;
And three, be like him in his past life and fail to awaken altogether.
Feeling the chill right inside him, he turned to look at Victoria.
’As expected of the Ice Queen! She didn’t disappoint!’
