"Wait a minute, Grandpa, Uncle Adrian, explain everything again."

"You know I have been in the midst of trying to break through for the past week."

"I’m going to need all the information we have on this monster to come to a decision."

Taking his seat at the meeting table, Ethan looked at everyone sitting there, his emotions tense.

’In my past life, different from how Awakeners were ranked F to S, mutant beasts were a different matter.’

’With their classification being from the lowest Mutant Beast, to Elite Mutant Beast, Superior Mutant Beast, and Lord Mutant Beast.’

’Although other ranks exist, unfortunately, I didn’t have access to that level of information in my past life.’

Remembering the footprint he saw and the ramblings of Adrian he had heard about how the monster had surveyed the shelter multiple times,

Ethan could already guess its rank.

’It’s either a Superior or, if possible, a Lord Mutant Beast, with Lord Mutant Beasts being equivalent to C-class Awakeners.’

’If that is the case, then we’re in real trouble,’ thought Ethan.

Hopefully, Adrian’s next explanation would dissolve his worries.

"Welcome, Patriarch! Allow this uncle of yours to explain the situation."

"Hopefully, you can convince your grandfather to agree with me."

"Otherwise, the only thing we can do is prepare to abandon the shelter," said Adrian.

Although he didn’t want to fearmonger, that was the truth.

The things he had seen this week and the things he had heard filled him with a feeling of despair for the future.

He had seen monsters that even made him wonder if humans had hope.

Taking a deep breath, with a hint of terror in his eyes, he began to explain:

"Sigh~ You see, Ethan, it began back when your sister came back and told your grandpa about what you guys discovered."

"To prepare for whatever it was that left that print, I, along with the majority of the guards, began to do extra patrols."

"More people on the watchtowers; the whole area was on high alert."

"Thinking of it now, it’s probably part of why I’m so worked up; I haven’t slept well in days."

"Sigh~ Things like this really make you understand that the world has changed, huh?"

Once again sighing at the past, Adrian’s eyes wandered as he looked up at the ceiling.

Against such monsters, could humanity really survive?

As for Christian, seeing Adrian like this, he didn’t interrupt him. Among all his sons, very few of them were particularly brave.

Most of them hadn’t gone through the war he had experienced.

They hadn’t put their lives on the line, and perhaps their most dangerous moment was back when Marcus attacked during his birthday.

In fact, when Adrian had suggested they attack the monster first, Christian was somewhat happy that his son had grown some courage.

But whenever he looked in his eyes, Christian realized that it wasn’t bravery or wisdom that made him suggest that plan.

It was fear and madness. Perhaps Adrian, overcome with despair, just wanted that monster eliminated and away from him, no matter the cost.

Because of this, Christian could only reject his ideas.

If he let this son of his be in this state, the only thing that would result from his frontal attack plan would be a one-sided massacre,

a situation which he didn’t want to see happen.

"Ethan, that night we saw it!"

"A monster which could only be described in myths and legends. It had the body of a bear, wings, and the head of an eagle!"

"And as for its legs, it seemed to be a mix of the two."

"Flying in the sky, staring straight at us, its screech could be heard from several kilometers away!"

"Its size is bigger than a large truck; only God knows how powerful it is."

"But then again, in a world like this, is there really a God?"

Taking a pause, perhaps realizing he was getting emotional, Adrian finally calmed down and continued to explain:

"After that meeting, that bastard continued to watch us, several times flying around the walls."

"At first we tried to shoot it, but even our best sniper rifle bullets would bounce off."

"Not only that, but perhaps noticing our attacks weren’t working on it, it became cocky."

"Once a soldier of ours would step out of the shelter, it would swoop down, killing them on the spot!"

"Sometimes doing it right at the shelter entrance, as if to declare dominance."

"Right now, it’s treating us like we’re in a cage, a cage where no one is allowed to step out without permission."

"Had Grandfather not ordered all soldiers to keep quiet on the matter, perhaps the whole camp would have been in a panic!"

Saying this, Adrian slumped in his chair as he felt a sense of powerlessness at the current situation.

Even Christian clenched his fists, as while not as emotional as his son, he too was annoyed by the current situation.

He, Christian Smith, the living legend, how could he be trapped by a mere animal in his own home?

Unfortunately, that was the case, as they had already lost ten people trying to leave the shelter.

Perhaps in this room, only Ethan was somewhat calm, but then again, even he had worries about the current situation.

"Alright, Uncle Adrian, calm down. I understand what you’re saying, but panicking won’t solve anything."

"If we all rush out and launch an attack like you said without understanding our opponent, then just like the others who died, we will be no different."

Watching his people die one by one and being trapped in his own house,

this was indeed enough to drive anyone crazy, so Ethan didn’t blame him too much.

After all, not everyone was like him, who had experienced the apocalypse before and seen all kinds of monsters.

However, it was precisely because of this experience that Ethan couldn’t join them in fear.

Rather, now more than ever, he needed to display his reason for being reborn.

"Alright, Uncle Adrian, I understand most of it."

"Uncle, what did you mean by gathering monsters?" Ethan asked, as this would let him know if the monster they were dealing with was actually a Lord rank!
