Chapter 723: Chapter 274: Birth, a Whole Litter! (Part 2)
Huo Wen’an woke up at four in the morning, still in a prone sleeping position.
In the instant he opened his eyes, there was a fleeting sense of bewilderment about what day it was.
Turning his head, he saw the empty space beside him, and he suddenly became clear-headed. Huo Wen’an propped himself up on the bed and was about to turn on the Intelligent Brain Terminal to contact Xu Xingguang, to ask if she had left and where she was, when he heard shouting from the backyard.
He walked out of the suite and stood on the fourth-floor backyard terrace, looking down to see Xiao Qiao sparring with Xu Xingguang.
Under the moonlight, the two of them were unarmed and agile. Xu Xingguang moved with ghostlike swiftness, quickly maneuvering behind Xiao Qiao, and executed an over-the-shoulder throw that sent Xiao Qiao spinning into the sandpit with brutal force.
Xu Xingguang stood beside Xiao Qiao with her arms crossed, looking down at him, “Little cutie, not bad skills.”
Xiao Qiao felt no joy from the compliment as he used his left hand to press on his aching right shoulder and sat up with pursed lips.
Sitting in the sandpit, Xiao Qiao gazed upward at Xu Xingguang.
Under the moonlight, Xu Xingguang was wearing a simple training outfit, yet there was an unmistakable striking beauty about her.
Xiao Qiao suddenly tilted his head and said, “When you get tired of 099, you might want to consider me.”
Xu Xingguang’s expression suddenly turned disdainful.
“You?” She shook her head, “Weakling, can’t handle any rough play.”
Xiao Qiao was both annoyed and amused.
Suddenly, Xu Xingguang looked up and waved her hand toward the fourth-floor terrace in the backyard.
Huo Wen’an also raised his hand and waved back at her.
He walked downstairs, through the first-floor hall, and into the backyard training ground. Xu Xingguang was squatting in a horse stance, with heavy balls tied to each wrist, unwavering, displaying her formidable inner strength.
Curious, Xiao Qiao tried picking up the dragon-egg-sized ball, which weighed down his wrist and fell again.
As the ball fell, it tugged on the strap, but Xu Xingguang’s wrist never wavered.
Xiao Qiao was somewhat impressed and said to Huo Wen’an as he walked over to Xu Xingguang, “099, where did you find such a treasure? Any more? Introduce one to me, will you?”
Xiao Qiao genuinely admired girls like Xu Xingguang.
Huo Wen’an snorted, “The last person who daydreamed like you turned into a toad.”
Xiao Qiao was rendered speechless.
“You’re annoying!” Xiao Qiao huffed and ran off.
Huo Wen’an sat down on a sandbag next to Xu Xingguang, not disturbing her, just quietly sitting there.
They watched a sunrise like this, as the sun climbed over the edge of the Black Sea, casting golden hues over the Bai Ze Mountain Range in front of them, with shadowy trees sparkling in the light.
The gloom on Bai Ze Island had finally lifted.
Xu Xingguang removed the straps, stood up, and said to Huo Wen’an, “Let’s go home, I’ll make you breakfast.”
Huo Wen’an followed her back inside, commenting as he walked, “There might not be any ingredients here.”
He followed Xu Xingguang into the kitchen.
Xu Xingguang opened the refrigerator, revealing a fridge full of ingredients, “I had them brought overnight.”
In this world of scarce food resources, this refrigerator full of ingredients was enough for an average citizen to buy three to four months’ worth of nutrients.
Huo Wen’an looked at the abundance of ingredients, feeling a mix of emotions.
Xu Xingguang cooked him a pot of pig liver and seafood noodle soup, its fragrance was tantalizing, and Xiao Qiao returned, lured by the aroma.
Xiao Qiao approached them, tiptoeing to look into the boiling pot in front of Xu Xingguang, “Is this noodles?” Noodles are made from flour, whose raw material is wheat, and the land resources in the Divine Martial Realm are scarce, with wheat fields only on the Divine Hidden Continent.
This finished noodle product is sold only by the Divine Hidden Continent throughout the Divine Martial Realm, with a two-pound bag costing over three hundred silver coins.
Over three hundred silver coins, enough for an average citizen to buy two boxes of basic nutrients, is their week’s living expenses.
Xiao Qiao said, “I ate this when I was a child but never got the chance to eat it again.” As a child, when his parents were still around, he often had noodles in his early years.
In his impression, noodles tasted bland, not having the various flavors of nutrients.
Smelling the aroma, Xiao Qiao praised, “Your noodles smell even better than what I had as a child. My father used to boil them in plain water, just adding some salt and oil when they were done.”
Xiao Qiao stared at the thin slices of meat in the pot and asked Xu Xingguang, “What is that?”
“Pig liver.”
“Pig liver?” Xiao Qiao frowned, “Liver is a metabolic organ, and pig liver is something we usually don’t eat.” He furrowed his brow and said, “From what I know, animal liver is the cheapest type of meat in the Divine Martial Realm, and it’s the only kind of food that the common folk can afford.”
