Chapter 752: Go Ahead, I'll Take Responsibility

  • Next Chapter

Xu Xingguang didn’t argue with City Lord Jin, and instead asked Jin Nuo’an, “Think carefully, did you visit a site where corpses were piled up five years ago?”

Jin Nuo’an’s mind was a complete mess, processing things rather slowly.

Jin Nuoyan recalled something and raised her voice, “I remember! Eight years ago, my mother died on the battlefield, and my father took my brother to the battlefield to see her for the last time.”

Uncertain if the clue she provided was valuable, she asked Xu Xingguang, “Was that battle as disastrous as you described?”

Xu Xingguang nodded, “A battlefield where blood flowed like rivers and deaths caused by natural disasters both qualify.”

City Lord Jin hurriedly nodded as well, “Yes, that did happen. Nuo’an only went to the battlefield once.”

Upon learning that Jin Nuo’an had indeed been to the battlefield, Xu Xingguang was confident that the parasite in him was essentially the same as the one in Xiahou Huai Gui.

“Your son’s illness is indeed not caused by a Gu worm, but a parasitic biochemical virus.”

City Lord Jin found it hard to believe, “Miss Xu, are you really sure? Could it be a misjudgment?”

He scrutinized Xu Xingguang, considering her too young. So many skilled doctors couldn’t determine the real cause of Jin Nuo’an’s illness — how could she figure it out?

“How about we still call Elder Tan Nan? After all, she is a professional in expelling Gu worms, and we’d like to hear her opinion.”

City Lord Jin felt embarrassed questioning Xu Xingguang’s medical skills in front of her, but his child’s life was at stake, and he couldn’t afford to take chances.

Not angered by the questioning of her abilities, Xu Xingguang understood City Lord Jin’s eagerness for his child’s health. “Wait a moment, I’ll call my teacher.”

Xu Xingguang went outside and used her Intelligent Brain Terminal to call Elder Tan Nan, giving an overview of Jin Nuo’an’s condition.

Elder Tan Nan had no favorable impression of City Lord Jin’s family, but she was classmates with his late wife, sharing years of school camaraderie.

Later, Elder Tan Nan entered the Medical College and joined the Ying Family, while Mrs. Jin went to the Military Academy to become a female warrior, leading to less contact between them.

As a doctor, Elder Tan Nan couldn’t ignore someone in need of help.

Elder Tan Nan finally relented, “Have them wait. I’ll head over right away.”

With Wuyuan Town not far from Golden Gate City, an hour later, Elder Tan Nan’s flying car parked at the outdoor parking area in front of the City Lord Mansion.

City Lord Jin had been waiting there early. Seeing Elder Tan Nan, he immediately approached her to apologize.

Behind him, Jin Nuoyan also had reddened eyes, earnestly apologizing to Elder Tan Nan.

Elder Tan Nan looked at City Lord Jin, showing an expression of exasperation, “Spoiling a child is like killing them; your daughter’s character truly leaves much to be desired.”

“City Lord Jin, I was friends with your wife when we were younger. Mrs. Jin was a heroic woman; raising her children to become like this is equally your responsibility as their father.”

“Let’s skip the insincere apologies and save your energy to properly educate your children.”

Elder Tan Nan’s advice left City Lord Jin blushing with embarrassment, repeatedly admitting his fault. “Elder Tan Nan is right; it’s my poor parenting. I’m truly ashamed.”

With words of advice, Elder Tan Nan said no more and walked towards Xu Xingguang, asking about Jin Nuo’an’s condition.

Xu Xingguang followed half a step behind Elder Tan Nan and, while walking towards the City Lord Mansion, softly shared her observations with Elder Tan Nan.

City Lord Jin didn’t rush to follow. Standing at the mansion’s door, he self-reflected for a moment, then looked back at his daughter, whose eyes were filled with tears, and sighed, “It’s my poor parenting that led you to develop such a character. From now on, I’ll be stricter with you.”

Jin Nuoyan pursed her lips and cried silently.

Only after this experience did she realize that her past arrogance wasn’t without consequence; retribution just hadn’t arrived yet.

The consequences wouldn’t only affect her but also her closest family members.

She genuinely realized her mistake.

“Dad, I know I was wrong. I’ll be a better person from now on and won’t abuse people’s power anymore.” Saying such a self-reproachful phrase showed that Jin Nuoyan had truly learned a lesson.

“Sigh.” City Lord Jin quickly caught up with Elder Tan Nan and Xu Xingguang, listening to their discussion about Jin Nuo’an’s condition, not daring to interrupt.

Upon entering Jin Nuo’an’s bedroom, Xu Xingguang stopped City Lord Jin and Jin Nuoyan, “City Lord Jin, please wait outside for a moment. My teacher requires quiet to examine the patient.”
