Maybe I really am a Villian

Chapter 325: Assassination?

Noah remained silent for a moment before finally speaking again in a joking tone.

"At least it wasn’t me who jinxed it this time."

However, before he could say anything else, Professor Elisa’s stern voice suddenly interrupted him.

"Don’t talk to each other while I’m speaking."

Professor Elisa looked directly at Noah, her expression serious and her tone leaving no room for argument.

Noah immediately nodded.

"Yes, Professor."

After that, he lowered his head and remained silent for the rest of the explanation, deciding that it would be better not to attract any more attention from Professor Elisa.

A few minutes later, the professors finally finished explaining the rules of the examination for the last time.

As expected, the rules were almost identical to those of their first survival test. The students would once again be transported to an island where they would have to survive in an environment filled with dangerous beasts.

However, there was one significant difference this time.

The island would be different, and the beasts inhabiting it would be considerably stronger than those they had encountered during their first examination.

Naturally, the Academy had also made arrangements to ensure the students’ safety. Staff members would be assigned to keep a close watch on every team, monitoring their activities and intervening if anything went wrong or a student’s life was put in danger.

Once all the preparations were complete, the teams began entering the teleportation portals one after another.

Each team was assigned a specific location on the island, and the portals would transport them directly to their designated areas. Staff members had already been stationed at those locations, ready to monitor the teams assigned to them throughout the examination.

Within a few minutes, all the first-year students had entered the portals and arrived at their respective locations on the island. The staff members waiting for them immediately began carrying out their assigned duties, preparing to observe the students and ensure that everything proceeded according to plan.

After the last team had entered the portal, the outdoor training ground gradually became quieter.

Professor Elisa stood there for a moment, looking at the now-empty space where the students had been gathered just a short while ago.

She then turned her gaze towards the teleportation portal and let out a long sigh.

"I wonder how many people he’s going to traumatize this time."

She muttered the words under her breath, already having a rough idea of what might happen during the examination.

After all, Asher was participating again.

And based on his previous performance, it would be surprising if the examination proceeded completely normally.

With another sigh, Professor Elisa finally turned around and began walking towards the surveillance room, where the staff members would be monitoring the students’ progress throughout the test.

However, just as she approached the room, she suddenly heard a commotion coming from inside.

There were several voices talking at once, along with the sound of people moving around hurriedly.

Professor Elisa frowned slightly.

’What’s going on now?’

She quickened her pace and entered the room.

The moment she stepped inside, she noticed that one of the surveillance screens had gone completely black. Several staff members were gathered around it, apparently trying to figure out what had gone wrong.

Professor Elisa looked at the black screen and sighed.

’It hasn’t even been five minutes since the examination started, and there are already problems?’

She couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on.

The examination had only just begun, yet something had already gone wrong with the surveillance system. If this continued, she would have to spend the entire examination dealing with unexpected problems instead of focusing on the students’ performance.

Walking towards one of the staff members, she asked in a firm tone, "What is wrong?"

The staff member immediately turned towards her and answered.

"Professor, the surveillance team assigned to one of the groups isn’t responding, and the cameras monitoring that team have also stopped working."

Professor Elisa raised an eyebrow.

A camera malfunction could be explained as a technical glitch.

However, the surveillance team itself failing to respond was an entirely different matter.

Those staff members were responsible for monitoring the students and ensuring their safety. If they suddenly stopped responding, there was a possibility that something had happened to them.

Professor Elisa’s expression gradually became serious.

She had a bad feeling about this.

"Which team isn’t responding?" she immediately asked.

The staff member glanced at the information displayed on the remaining screens before answering.

"It’s the team assigned to monitor the group consisting of Asher Astrean, Noah, Aria Velmora, and Ada—"

Before the man could finish speaking, Professor Elisa interrupted him.

"Have you sent the nearby drones and other teams to check on them?"

Her tone had become noticeably urgent.

The moment she heard Asher’s name, an unpleasant feeling rose in her heart.

She had a strong suspicion that something was seriously wrong.

"Yes, Professor. We’ve already dispatched a nearby drone and contacted the other teams. They should reach the location any moment now."

The moment he finished speaking, the black surveillance screen suddenly flickered.

A few seconds later, the screen lit up as the drone finally reached the location where Asher’s team was supposed to be.

Everyone in the surveillance room immediately turned their attention towards the screen.

Professor Elisa’s gaze was fixed on the display as well, her expression growing increasingly tense while she waited for the image to become clear.

And when the footage finally appeared, the entire room fell silent.

The image showed Noah, Aria, and Adam standing outside a large barrier.

However, there was no sign of Asher anywhere.

More importantly, the staff members who were supposed to be monitoring their team were also nowhere to be seen.

For a moment, several people in the room looked at the screen with confused expressions, struggling to understand what they were seeing.

But Professor Elisa’s face had already turned grave.

She didn’t waste even a second asking for further explanations.

The moment she realized what the footage was showing, she immediately rushed out of the surveillance room and headed straight towards the teleportation portal.

She didn’t even bother to wait for the other staff members.

Something was clearly wrong, and she had a terrible feeling that the situation was far more serious than anyone in the room had realized.
