Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)
Chapter 318: Prime city 10.
And beyond it, countless worlds remained to be seen.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
"Are you hungry?"
Su Yubing laughed.
"Already?"
"Teleportation makes me hungry."
"You ate breakfast before we left."
"That was hours ago."
"It has been forty minutes."
Mo Yuxin looked thoughtful.
"Still hungry."
Su Yubing shook her head.
"Fine. We will find food in the next city."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
She moved a little closer until their shoulders touched.
"Good."
The little girl turned around.
"Can I have sweet fruit?"
Su Yubing smiled.
"Of course."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"I’ll buy it."
They continued down the mountain road.
No bells rang.
No sky cracked open.
No ancient formation awakened.
No one called them ancestors.
Nothing dramatic happened.
It was simply a road.
A long road through a vast new continent.
And the married couple walking down it looked perfectly ordinary.
Except that Mo Yuxin kept one hand around Su Yubing’s hand the entire time, and Su Yubing never once tried to pull away.
The Prime City became smaller behind them.
The Central Continent became larger ahead.
Their next Chapter had not yet begun.
But the road toward it had already opened.
Before they crossed fully into the Central Continent, they spent one final evening at a small border town. The town was not impressive. It had a single main street, several inns and a modest cultivation market where travelers could rest before continuing toward the deeper territories. Mo Yuxin thought that was exactly why she liked it. There was no pressure here. Nobody cared where a powerful sect disciple had come from. Nobody cared about ancient artifacts. Most people simply wanted dinner and a safe bed.
They stayed at an inn called the Warm Lantern.
The room was small enough that the little girl immediately complained about the bed.
"There are only two beds."
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
Su Yubing looked at Mo Yuxin.
The child pointed toward the larger bed.
"I’m sleeping there."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Fine."
The little girl climbed onto it.
Then she stared at the other bed.
"Where are you two sleeping?"
Su Yubing smiled.
"The other bed."
The girl narrowed her eyes.
"Together?"
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
The little girl sighed.
"Of course."
Su Yubing laughed.
Dinner was served downstairs.
The innkeeper offered them a simple meal of roasted river fish, steamed spirit rice and a bowl of clear vegetable soup. Mo Yuxin liked it immediately.
"This is good."
Su Yubing nodded.
"Very."
They ate quietly until a traveling cultivator at the next table began talking about the Central Continent.
According to him, the main Tang Sect alone occupied more territory than several Southern Continent kingdoms combined. Its outer disciples numbered in the tens of thousands, while its inner mountain ranges were guarded by formations that had existed for generations. He said that even Soul Formation cultivators had to behave carefully near the main sect.
Mo Yuxin listened while eating.
The man continued telling stories about the five great sects. He talked about ancient sword masters, famous alchemists, hidden immortal inheritances and the coming gathering that had caused countless geniuses to travel toward the Central Continent.
The little girl looked fascinated.
"Are all of them very strong?"
The cultivator laughed.
"The geniuses of the Central Continent are naturally stronger than most people you meet elsewhere. There are young monsters who can defeat cultivators several realms above themselves."
Mo Yuxin swallowed a piece of fish.
"Sounds noisy."
The cultivator stared at her.
Su Yubing smiled apologetically.
"She means exciting."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes. Exciting."
Later that night, after the little girl had fallen asleep, Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing sat by the small window.
The town was quiet.
A few lanterns burned below.
Su Yubing leaned against Mo Yuxin’s chest.
"Tomorrow, we officially begin the Central Continent journey."
Mo Yuxin nodded.
"Yes."
"Are you excited?"
"A little."
"I’m surprised."
"Why?"
"You usually act like nothing is interesting."
Mo Yuxin smiled.
"You’re interesting."
Su Yubing turned red.
"That was smooth."
"I was being honest."
"That’s why it worked."
Mo Yuxin kissed her forehead.
Su Yubing closed her eyes.
"No matter how strong the Central Continent is, don’t leave me behind."
Mo Yuxin’s answer was immediate.
"Never."
"Good."
She wrapped both arms around Mo Yuxin’s waist.
Mo Yuxin rested her chin against her hair.
They stayed that way for a long time.
There was something strangely peaceful about standing on the edge of a new continent with no need to prove anything.
They did not need to become famous.
They did not need to challenge anyone.
They did not need to uncover every secret hidden beneath the world.
They only needed to keep walking.
The next morning, the little girl woke them before sunrise because she was hungry.
Mo Yuxin opened her eyes.
The child stood beside the bed holding an empty fruit bag.
"We’re out."
Mo Yuxin stared at the bag.
"Already?"
The child nodded.
"You bought too few."
Su Yubing, still half asleep, said, "She ate everything before midnight."
Mo Yuxin sat up.
"Then we’ll buy more."
Su Yubing opened one eye.
"You spoil both of us."
Mo Yuxin thought about it.
"I know."
They left the inn after breakfast.
At the edge of town stood a stone bridge crossing a deep river.
Beyond the bridge was the actual Central Continent road.
Mo Yuxin stopped halfway across.
Su Yubing looked at her.
"What?"
Mo Yuxin looked back toward the small town.
"Nothing."
Then she looked ahead.
"Let’s go."
Su Yubing smiled.
She reached for Mo Yuxin’s hand.
Their fingers intertwined.
The little girl ran ahead.
The three of them crossed the bridge together.
Behind them was everything they had already experienced in the Southern Continent: the shore city, the old ruined sect, the strange lanterns, Skyfall City, Homeward City, Prime City, the Tang Sword Sect’s southern branch and all the little people they had met along the road.
None of it had to be forgotten.
None of it needed to become some grand cosmic explanation.
Those things had happened.
They had survived them.
They had learned from them.
Then they had moved on.
Ahead was the Central Continent.
Ahead was the main Tang Sect, one of the five great sects of the world.
Ahead was a world filled with cultivators stronger than those they had met so far, ancient clans, massive cities, secret realms, famous battlefields and endless opportunities.
Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.
"Ready?"
Su Yubing smiled.
"Always."
Mo Yuxin squeezed her hand.
Then they continued forward.
