Mercenaries, I Will Be King

Chapter 1205 - 1057: Interrogation

  • Next Chapter

Kafvan looked a bit at a loss.

"You two! Take this traitor out immediately! Find another doctor, make sure to find a reliable one! Keep an eye on him, and then detoxify him!"

He vented all his anger on the guards who had just entered and on Dr. Mahadi, who was pinned to the ground. Even after standing up, he kicked him hard.

This made Dr. Mahadi, who was already showing signs of poisoning, almost lose his breath, and he fainted, his eyes rolling back.

"Yes, Captain!"

The guards didn't know what had happened, and they hadn't heard the key conversation between the two.

Of course, if they had heard the name Zahedi and knew he was the traitor, their expressions wouldn't have been much better than Kafvan's.

After the guards took Dr. Mahadi away, Kafvan anxiously paced around in circles on the spot and finally kicked the hospital bed with a thud.

Song Heping could pretty much guess what was going on.

Zahedi seemed to have a rather special identity.

"So? Zahedi is not just the Intelligence Chief, is he?"

Song Heping had no intention of being polite to Kafvan, or even to General Afanti.

He almost lost his life due to the internal chaos in Persia, and even though he hadn't gotten angry, they seemed more devastated.

"Zahedi..."

Kafvan felt a bit ashamed when he met Song Heping's disdainful gaze.

"He's General Afanti's own nephew."

Kafvan shrugged, making an incredulous gesture.

"His parents were soldiers who died in the Iran-Iraq War. General Afanti raised him single-handedly and promoted him to Intelligence Chief... If this is confirmed... the General will be very sad."

"Damn!"

Song Heping had to admit he was a bit surprised himself.

He was almost betrayed by General Afanti's own nephew.

"This nephew really did it. Sold out his own uncle too."

He took out a satellite phone and dialed General Afanti's number.

"What? Did you catch him?"

General Afanti, who had been waiting by the phone, cut to the chase.

Song Heping said, "That's right, we caught him. A doctor tried to secretly inject high-concentration potassium chloride into my IV during a drug change opportunity."

"Are you okay?" General Afanti hurriedly asked.

Song Heping said, "No problem, I injected that dose into his own body. If there's an issue, it's his."

"That's good." General Afanti breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Who was it?"

"Dr. Mahadi," Song Heping said, "Do you know him?"

"I know him..." General Afanti said, "A seasoned doctor from the Army Hospital..."

He paused and then asked, "Who's behind this?"

Song Heping cleared his throat twice, his gaze sweeping over Kafvan, who quickly turned his head away, not daring to meet his eyes.

"It's your nephew."

"My nephew?" General Afanti's voice changed tone: "What do you mean my nephew?!"

"How many nephews do you have?" Song Heping teased, "How many nephews do you have working in the Intelligence department of the Revolutionary Guard?"

General Afanti fell silent on the other end.

Song Heping said nothing as well.

At this point, silence spoke louder than words.

After a long time, General Afanti said in a deep voice, "I'll be right there."

With that, the call ended.

Song Heping put away the phone, sat back on the hospital bed, took off the hospital gown, and changed into the Persian Army's combat uniform that General Afanti had prepared for him.

He understood well that General Afanti, as the highest commander of the Revolutionary Guard, would definitely not show favoritism.

Even if this matter didn't involve himself, as long as it involved betrayal of the Revolutionary Guard, he would probably clean house.

There would definitely be a good show to watch later.

This was originally Persia's internal matter and didn't need to be interfered with.

But since it involved him, the situation was different.

Right now, the CIA was looking for opportunities worldwide to kill him.

Being in Persia now didn't seem like a good choice.

Captain Lei seemed to know something but couldn't speak openly, so he sent Qin Fei to indirectly remind him.

Now he had a question.

If Captain Lei knew, why didn't he warn him earlier not to go to Persia?

That's really a question mark.

But since he came, he couldn't leave now.

If he left Persia now, he could only go to South America.

Would South America be safe?

Not necessarily.

Venezuela might be considered.

But the journey was long; the longer he was on the road, the higher the risk factor.

He couldn't take a plane.

Roads were not passable.

He could only take a ship, but if any rumors got out, the Americans might send warships to directly blow him to pieces on the sea.

Forget it.

Better go with the flow.

Song Heping had a vague feeling that Captain Lei had a deeper meaning when reminding him only after he had already set out for Persia and was unable to turn back.

The specific meaning wasn't clear at the moment.

General Afanti moved quickly.

Fifteen minutes later, there were dense footsteps outside the hospital room.

The door was quickly pushed open, and General Afanti and his guards appeared at the door.

"Song, want to come see?"

"Sure." Song Heping nodded, "Let's see."

He knew this was an invitation to watch their interrogation process.

As for the interrogation target, it was clear even without thinking that it was Dr. Mahadi.

When he saw Dr. Mahadi again, it was in a storage room at the end of a corridor on the first floor of the hospital.

The storage room was perfect for use as an interrogation room. Just push things to the wall, clear some space, put up a few chairs and a table, and it could serve as an interrogation room.

Moreover, the hospital was also suitable for being transformed into a dungeon.

A simple surgical bed stripped of its white sheet instantly became a torture bed, suitable for implementing water torture, injecting drugs, or physical abuse, as it was extremely fitting.

Surgical tools and instruments were readily available, fitting to cut someone into pieces during an interrogation as desired.

Before even reaching the interrogation room, Song Heping could hear Dr. Mahadi's terrible wails along the corridor.

Approaching the door, the guards saw General Afanti and immediately saluted.

"Open the door."

General Afanti, with a sullen face, spoke sparingly.

The guards opened the door, and a strong smell of blood immediately filled Song Heping's nostrils.

Looking inside, he couldn't help but frown.

Dr. Mahadi was stripped bare, like an ear of corn peeled of its husk, but this ear of corn was somewhat incomplete, gnawed and ragged like a chewed-up cob.

Song Heping instinctively checked his watch.

He thought to himself that the Persians' method of interrogation was truly brutal and straightforward.

It had been less than twenty minutes, and the person was already tortured like this.

The interrogation room had several people, all wearing white coats. A man with a beard, wearing a camouflage uniform over a white coat, turned to greet General Afanti, taking off his bloody gloves and saluting.

General Afanti asked, "Did he confess?"

The man in the white coat nodded, "He confessed."

General Afanti continued to ask, "Who?"

The man in the white coat hesitated for a moment but was much firmer than Kafvan and quickly gave a confirmed answer, "Zahedi, he only knew that Zahedi instructed him because his daughter is sick and needs treatment abroad. Zahedi promised him the best treatment and a large sum of money. Oh, and there's a car parked two streets away from the hospital. Inside there are fake passports and a bag of US dollar cash; I sent someone to check, and they all matched. This guy wasn't lying."

General Afanti said no more, just waved his hand, "I understand."

The man in the white coat immediately understood, "Yes, I know what to do, General."

He then turned and walked towards the hospital exit.

After walking a few steps, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"What, caught him?"

"Is that so?"

"Don't let even a mosquito escape. I'll be right there."

"Yes, General."

The call ended, and the SUV was already waiting at the building entrance.

General Afanti got into an SUV and waved to Song Heping, "Song, want to come along?"

Song Heping smiled, "Your family matter, should I get involved?"

General Afanti's expression didn't change. He just looked at the man in the white coat.

The latter immediately understood, "Yes, I know what to do, General."

With that, he turned towards the surgical bed.

General Afanti didn't stay either, turning to leave in the direction of the hospital entrance.

"Song, want to come see with me?"

"Okay." Song Heping nodded, "Let's see."

He knew this was an invitation to watch their interrogation process.

As for who the interrogation subject was, just thinking about it with his toes, he knew it was Dr. Mahadi.
