Mercenaries, I Will Be King
Chapter 1401 - 1172: Shadow Hunt of Tara and Mira
"Since everything is in place, let's not waste any time."
Major Petrovsky took out a military tablet, placed it on the hood, and turned on the map.
Everyone and the members of the 'Sand Fox' squad immediately gathered round.
Petrovsky's index finger accurately jabbed at a marked red circle on the map.
"The target, Orwell. The leader of the White Helmets in the Latamira area, responsible for coordinating the transportation of dirty bomb materials to Siria to prepare for a chemical weapon attack. He's currently hiding here—"
His fingertip heavily tapped on the spot.
"A standalone, two-story building with a yard and a wall, located three kilometers outside Latamira. Intelligence indicates that the defense is roughly a squad's strength, with 8 to 12 firearms, mainly AKs, and potentially one or two RPGs for show."
He looked up, scanning Song Heping, Jiang Feng, and Naxin.
"Over at Mannier, it's become a meat grinder, with Kurd people and the elite of 1515 being drawn there. This area has instead become a blind spot right under our eyes, with guards being very lax."
'Hawkeye' Aleksey, responsible for reconnaissance and intelligence, said: "According to the latest intelligence, there's only one main gate to enter or exit. There's someone with a gun walking around on the roof, and at night they light a fire in the yard. Orwell, that bastard, spends most of his time hiding in the room at the east end of the second floor, like a rat that can't face the light."
Major Petrovsky turned towards Song Heping: "Song, the plan you mentioned to me earlier seems fine. But it's past nine in the morning now. It'll be at least past ten when we get there. Making a move in broad daylight?"
He raised his wrist, gesturing at an imaginary watch.
"The sun is directly above us, visibility is excessively good, which is an advantage for us, but also for those sentries in the yard. Any little mishap, even a thirty-second extension of gunfire could be heard kilometers away, drawing the attention of nearby patrols."
He pointed to the location of the Gunei Mountain Area on the map, "I know there's a battle at Mannier, but here..."
His fingertip landed on Latamira, "After all, it's the turf of the Kurd Armed, not an uninhabited zone. Operating in daylight carries a high risk factor."
Song Heping wiped the sweat from his forehead: "Operating in daylight does indeed go against convention. But precisely because of this, the White Helmet's guards will lower their vigilance, making it easier to succeed. In Gunea Mountain now, bullets are flying, with US Army air support, Kurd ground forces, and the madmen of 1515 all mixed together. The Kurd Armed personnel stationed at Latamira are definitely being dispatched, leaving the White Helmets feeling as though this is a safe rear, lowering their vigilance to the minimum. What we're targeting is this psychological gap."
Petrovsky stared at Song Heping for a few seconds, seemingly weighing every word of this speech.
Ultimately, he nodded slowly: "Makes sense. Utilizing the enemy's cognitive blindspot. Alright, you're in charge of this operation, I'll follow your lead."
"Good."
Song Heping didn't waste any more words, swiftly moving his finger on the map.
"We're splitting into three pickup trucks, along with two from 'Sand Fox', making five vehicles in total, all disguised as local armed forces' junk, approaching the outskirts of Latamira via pre-designated routes. Remember, at this hollow area two kilometers from the target."
He indicated a location and forcefully jabbed at it.
"Abandon vehicles here, proceed on foot to minimize exposure risk."
He continued allocating specific tasks: "My command post is set here—on the northwest side of the target, on this hill. Best view, overseeing the whole situation. Major Petrovsky, you lead the SSO assault team to stealthily approach from the south side of the yard. The task is to clear indoors and finally capture Orwell."
His gaze turned to two snipers who had been taciturn: "'Hunter', 'Cold Blade', you two, go to this separate high ground to the east, establish a two-man sniper observation post. 'Hunter', your SV-98 for precision long-distance elimination, 'Cold Blade', your VSS for medium-range quiet sniping. The sentry on the roof, any RPG handlers popping up in the yard, are your top priority. Also, keep a close watch on the east and north sides of the building, serving as eyes for the assault group."
"'Hawkeye'."
Song Heping looked at the SSO team member carrying the drone control box.
"Before the attack commences, your 'bird' must provide a panoramic real-time image of the target area, focusing on whether there are any wandering outside or support suddenly emerging. Once we engage, elevate the drone to monitor a larger area. Report any movements immediately."
Lastly, he looked at Naxin: "Naxin, your 'Sand Fox' squad is responsible for seizing this hill on the flank, establishing a fire support position. Place that AGS-17 grenade launcher on the rear slope of the hill. If any unwelcome reinforcements try to join the fray, use the PKM to seal off the yard exit, simultaneously covering it with grenade rain for a comprehensive fire blockade against the enemy. Understood?"
Naxin grinned, showing a set of white teeth: "Don't worry, Mr. Song. My lads will ensure the yard is riddled like a sieve, not allowing even a fly to get in, let alone out."
"All units, utilize Channel One Encryption. Maintain radio silence before the attack, don't even fart."
Song Heping's voice and gaze swept over everyone present.
"Once my command to attack is given, 'Hunter' or 'Cold Blade', whoever gets the chance, take out the sentry on the roof first. The gunshot will be the signal, Major, once you hear the command, your assault group rushes in quickly! The requirement is just three words: fast! Precision! Ruthless! Crush their resistance completely before they realize! Understood?"
