Mercenaries, I Will Be King
Chapter 470 - 416: Return After Leaving
Song Heping brought Disaster Star and several others to stay at a five-star hotel near the general hospital.
Upon entering his own room, he immediately took out his laptop, turned it on, then connected the encryptor to start dialing up to the internet.
Afterward, he picked up the satellite phone and contacted Henry in Illiguo.
"Henry, I will send you a personal profile in a bit. I need you to use your intelligence network right away. It doesn't matter if it costs money; you must obtain detailed information about these people, including their deployment areas and personal movement patterns, etc. Make sure it's thorough."
Henry asked, "Are you planning to use it as background information for operations?"
"Hmm, try to get it as fast as possible, within three days."
"No problem, I'm online, keeping an eye on my inbox."
"Keep this confidential, clean any traces, don't let anyone track it back to you."
"Sure, I'll use a false identity to handle this, don't worry."
About fifteen minutes after the two hung up the phone, Henry noticed a notification popping up in his inbox, and he quickly opened it.
A window popped up, and after the encrypted data packet was downloaded and opened, a simple personal profile appeared.
The moment Henry saw the identity of the person, he gasped in shock.
Because of the information inside.
"My God… what is he planning to do…"
Henry gasped in shock again.
The next two days were leisurely.
Song Heping took Hunter and others to wander around the city, feasting on gourmet food from all over the city, visiting every tourist spot.
Every evening after dinner, Song Heping would pack some food and visit Grey Wolf in the hospital, chatting with him for a while.
Grey Wolf's mood visibly improved quite a bit.
When he returned to his own room at night, it was work time.
The intelligence from Henry arrived two days later, and the information from Captain Lei arrived earlier, the next day.
Song Heping asked Captain Lei to provide information on the Seal Team leader who had pursued him and caused Grey Wolf to be disabled that night.
There was a head for every grievance, and an owner for every debt.
This matter couldn't just be left at that.
The reason he wanted two sets of intelligence was that Song Heping wanted to cross-reference them.
In intelligence analysis work, cross-referencing is an indispensable step. As long as the condition permits, cross-referencing must be done to ensure the accuracy of the intelligence.
This time the intelligence from both parties was very consistent.
The team leader that night was Captain Harold, currently 34 years old. He had served in the Marine Corps and joined the Seal Team ten years ago. He is now deployed in Southeast Asia, with Siem Reap as his long-term base, usually staying inside the US Embassy.
Intelligence showed that the man had a "false wife" in Siem Reap, which actually means a long-term mistress.
This is quite common in Siem Reap.
Usually, foreigners who go there are eager to experience this local "flavor."
Song Heping continued to look over the intelligence.
Harold spent most of his time in the US Embassy in Siem Reap, occasionally going on "business trips" to various countries in the Indochina region, the information indicates that these are usually coordinated with CIA agents for specific operations.
Song Heping read several operation profiles, the latest of which was about the encounter between his own small team and the opposition.
Seal Team, one kill, one injury.
Song Heping read every word carefully, including where Harold usually shops, where he likes to entertain himself, the security and arming situation, the vehicles he used, the brands; all were listed.
Overall, Harold was a rather cautious person.
Song Heping originally wanted to plant a bomb in his car.
This method is the simplest and least likely to leave traces when killing someone.
But Harold didn't have his own dedicated vehicle; he generally used the embassy's cars and didn't have a fixed mode of transportation, mostly taking taxis for his travels.
Such an unpredictable travel mode significantly increased the difficulty for planting car bombs.
Of course, it wasn't impossible. If you were willing to stake out and follow, opportunities could always be found.
However, Song Heping decided to abandon this route.
Because tracking a professionally trained Seal Team member was too risky and could likely lead to discovery by the opposition.
There was only one chance.
To take down the opponent, it had to be done right the first time; there would be no second chance.
After much consideration, Song Heping finally decided to start with the man's mistress.
The intelligence showed that Harold visited his mistress once a week, and she lived in the Nimitra residential district in Bangkok.
To assassinate someone, you have to find patterns.
Patterns are key to assassination.
If a person's life is very routine, it becomes much easier to assassinate.
If everything in their life is erratic, it's quite difficult to manage.
Song Heping's gaze locked onto the name, Nimitra.
He picked up the phone and summoned White Bear and the others.
"We're going to Siem Reap tomorrow, and you're coming with me."
White Bear asked, "Back to Siem Reap for what?"
Hunter seemed to have guessed Song Heping's thought, "Boss, are you planning to go back and trouble those Seal Team members?"
Song Heping turned his laptop screen towards the others.
"No, just one, take out their team leader."
He pointed at the screen with a firm tone, "Just kill him."
"Find a place for me, give me a sniper rifle with a silencer, and one shot will do it; this is too simple!"
Hunter confidently wanted to take up the task.
Song Heping shook his head, "No, that's too noisy; gunning someone down makes too much of a fuss, and the local police would definitely investigate. Although I'm not worried about their investigation, there's no need to make such a spectacle."
"Just rig a bomb under his car and send him to the sky!" White Bear's thinking was always straightforward and brutal.
Song Heping looked at him without saying anything and turned to Disaster Star, "What do you think?"
Disaster Star scratched his head, "You're asking me, boss? I don't know, however you guys want to do it, that's how we'll do it."
Several people laughed.
Song Heping then turned his gaze to White Bear, "Not to mention a car bomb is too conspicuous, it's also hard to find the right opportunity. This guy often takes public transportation, and even when he goes out, he rarely uses the vehicles from the consulate. Finding the right moment to strike is too troublesome."
Hunter said, "So that won't do, and this won't do either. Are you planning to kill him up close? Don't forget, this guy is a Captain of the Seal Team. It's not easy to get close, and he's definitely armed, believe it or not?"
"I believe."
Song Heping answered curtly, "So we need to come up with a more concealed method..."
"Concealed?"
The Hunters exchanged looks of bewilderment.
Song Heping frowned and pointed at a line of text on the screen.
"Strike here."
"Mistress?"
After realizing what was on the screen, they all murmured in unison.
"Right, I'll draft a preliminary plan. We need some special items, I'll arrange for them to be sent over."
Two days later, at Bangkok Airport, Song Heping and the Hunters exited the airport and were immediately approached as they reached the entrance.
"Boss, do you need a cab? It's only 12.52 US Dollars."
Song Heping's eyes lit up, and he sized up the man in his thirties in front of him.
"That's too expensive. What about 11.11 dollars?"
The other party's eyes also brightened.
"No problem, please get in the car!"
With that, he led them to his van.
After closing the door, the driver stepped on the gas, and the vehicle slowly left the airport, entering the freeway.
Bangkok's evening traffic was congested; the van crawled along like a tortoise in the flow of cars.
"There's a black suitcase in the trunk. Remember to take it when you get out; it contains everything you need."
The driver said this as he handed a card to Song Heping, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.
"If there's an emergency, call this number."
Song Heping took the card, glanced at the number to memorize it, then passed it around so everyone could see it.
After the card returned to him, Song Heping lit it with a lighter, watching as the small piece of paper burned to ashes before dropping it into the ashtray.
After checking into the hotel, they opened the black suitcase in the living room of the executive suite.
Inside were four Glock pistols, four brand new mobile phones with new local SIM cards, 32 fully loaded magazines, 12 shock bombs, 8 hand grenades, and other tactical accessories, including silencers.
There was also a small black box within the suitcase.
Song Heping picked it up and opened it.
Inside was a paper medicine box with two lines of English printed on it—SIDEGRA SILDENAFIL 100mg.
Hunter, who was checking the guns nearby, smiled meaningfully.
Song Heping opened the paper medicine box and poured out the blister pack.
The container, meant to hold four pills, was missing two, with only two blue pills left.
Song Heping checked them, felt there was no issue, and put them back into his pocket before starting to inspect the weapons.
"Rest tonight, and tomorrow night is when Harold will meet his mistress. Hunter, you're in charge of finding a concealed spot near the consulate to watch the door. See when Harold leaves, and keep in touch."
"Okay," Hunter nodded.
"Be careful, he's quite cunning. The spot must be very concealed. I don't want you to follow him, understand? Just head to his mistress' place to meet up with us after he leaves," Song Heping cautioned.
"Understood."
"Disaster Star, White Bear, you two come with me," Song Heping said. "We'll set off at dusk tomorrow."
"We'll follow your lead, boss."
Disaster Star and White Bear were not the types to overthink.
They would simply do as Song Heping directed—less thinking required.
After everything was arranged, they had nothing else to do that evening, so they went out for a stroll, bought some flashy T-shirts and shorts like tourists, had a few drinks at a bar, and then returned to the hotel.
The next day, early in the morning, they picked up two SUVs they had reserved from a rental company, and then stayed in without going out again. They even had lunch delivered to their room.
At two in the afternoon, Hunter left first.
At four, Song Heping took Disaster Star and White Bear in the other SUV towards the Nimitra residential area.
According to intelligence, Harold usually arrived at his mistress Aister's house between six-thirty and seven in the evening and typically stayed until the next morning before leaving.
Aister's home was in an apartment building on the northeast corner of the community. The building had only five floors, and Aister lived on the top floor.
It was a good location.
The top floor was very quiet...
At six in the evening, Aister was frying steaks in the kitchen, with Tom Yum Goong simmering alongside, the house filled with the scent of lemon and lemongrass.
Knock, knock, knock—
Someone was at the door.
Aister, in a flurry, lifted the steak from the pan and turned to open the door.
Upon opening the door, she saw a man dressed as a FedEx courier.
"Miss, there's an urgent package here that you need to sign for. Could you please open the door to sign?"
He spoke in English.
Aister's English was excellent due to her frequent interactions with foreigners.
Without thinking too much, she instinctively opened the door.
But the moment she did, a sudden shock went through her mind. She felt that the man's accent didn't quite match the Siamese accent but leaned more towards a standard American English accent.
Aister couldn't help but examine the man more closely through the door's bars.
He looked to be in his late twenties, dark complexion, and quite handsome.
The handsome man grinned at her.
Aister peeked out through the gap in the door. Indeed, he was holding an unopened express mail envelope.
"What's in the document?"
She couldn't remember any recent paperwork that she was expecting, and her hand paused on the doorknob.
