  7. Chapter 370

Ansu's manipulations were still ongoing.

Before the dim firelight of the previous basement scene could even fade, a new environment rapidly materialized.

Without pausing for even a single second to dwell on Celia's disappointment, the next scene emerged—

Benalu City by the sea.

The moment the two of them completely laid their cards on the table and clashed for the first time!

At the fishing docks on the outskirts of Benalu City, a thick sea mist rolled in, carrying the pungent stench of blood as it drifted on the ocean breeze.

Countless corpses of clergymen lay strewn haphazardly at Ansu's feet. Blood seeped into the sea, blooming into patches of dark red.

Yes, this was the scene.

This was the timeline from when he had first activated the ten-hour simulation:

Back then, in order to escape this wicked witch, he had secretly conspired with Freya and even secured guarantees from the archbishops of the three great churches.

However, Celia had mistakenly believed that he had been captured by the Church. She had charged straight up the Peak of Light, fiercely battling the three archbishops and the Holy Maiden.

In the end, carrying Freya's severed head, she had chased him all the way here.

She knew everything.

“An! Su!”

Hearing his name, Ansu turned around to see Celia standing in the churning sea mist, covered in blood.

Her body was covered in wounds of all sizes, from which black, filthy mana continuously seeped out. Her terrifying blood-red eyes were locked onto him in a death glare.

“And here I thought you had been captured by the Church.”

“Heh...”

Her entire body was trembling, as if she were suppressing an extreme, volatile rage. Fine black cracks slowly began to crawl across her skin.

“You betrayed me! You betrayed me!!”

“You promised...” she demanded shrilly. “You promised you would never betray me! Why? Why did you side with the Church?”

“Is it because of her? Is it because of her?!”

Celia lifted a dark, round object from behind her and threw it at Ansu's feet.

It was Freya's severed head.

Staring at Ansu's suddenly tensed face, Celia suddenly laughed—a twisted, manic laugh.

...

The sea mist gradually dispersed as the morning sun rose from the horizon.

What had been a one-sided interrogation transformed into a tense, explosive standoff fueled by Ansu's simulated anger.

“Enough! I've had absolutely enough of this!”

“You mad witch! Are you completely out of your mind? I've gone to such lengths, and you're still not satisfied?”

Ansu's tone carried an undisguised disgust.

“Are you actually feeling smug? Do you think an ant like me is completely under your control? Ha! Let me tell you, it was all a lie from the very beginning! I've been playing you!”

Ansu laughed maniacally, while Celia's smile slowly froze on her face.

“There was never any promise of loyalty! I was just acting!”

“And you, you arrogant mad witch, actually believed it? How hilarious! You even tried to hypnotize me at every turn. Just what kind of idiot gets played like a fool by me?”

“What? What... did you say?” Celia froze in place, shock slowly creeping over her face.

Instead of backing down, Ansu pressed forward step by step.

“The game ends here! I am completely sick and tired of you, you temperamental, narcissistic, arrogant madwoman!”

Celia stared at Ansu in utter disbelief, her voice trembling violently.

“A lie?”

“Those words... were they all lies?”

...

Shortly after.

Her fury erupted to its absolute peak, threatening to consume her entire being.

“You want to die?”

“No! I will keep you alive! And I will make your life a living hell!”

“I will make you understand the consequences of betraying me!!”

Ansu hit the pause button in his mind, freezing the image of her hysterical state.

Perfect.

The emotions were right on point.

Onto the next theater.

Without pausing for even a single second to dwell on Celia's rage, the next scene emerged—

The Black Forest mine and the little black room!

That was the first time she had gone dark and turned into a yandere. It was the first time all her suppressed love and hatred had completely erupted.

That day, Celia had discovered that he and Freya were being 'too intimate' at school, causing her jealousy and suspicion to fester.

She had secretly tailed and kidnapped Freya, using 【Hypnosis】 to extract all of their secrets.

Ansu's identity as the Chosen One, his superficial compliance, his double-dealing...

Lies would always be exposed eventually.

Especially since even the promise that had caused her to fall for him was fake...

‘Miss Witch, you are not alone.’

‘Because you still have me.’

‘I will stay by Lady Witch's side forever...’

Cold darkness enveloped a damp draft. Droplets of blood dripped from the rocky ceiling, splashing onto the stone floor with a clarity that was piercing in the dead silence of the mine.

The abandoned mine deep within the Black Forest was the "fated little black room" that Ansu was all too familiar with. Every single instance of his imprisonment had taken place right here.

Suddenly, a pitch-black claw covered in twisted patterns lunged forward, violently seizing Ansu by the throat.

“Ansu, you really have played me for a fool all this time, haven't you?”

Dark red, bloodshot eyes gleamed terrifyingly in the darkness, staring intently at his face.

“If I hadn't hypnotized that bitch, I probably would have been kept in the dark about your secrets forever!”

“How impressive, Lord Chosen One!” Celia squeezed Ansu tighter, her voice shifting from fury to a tremble. “Just how did you bypass my hypnosis? Of all the things you said to me, how much of it was a lie!”

...

Shortly after.

“I'll confess: a lot of it was a lie,” Ansu said, looking at her with a calm that bordered on cruelty.

Celia's fingertips trembled violently.

“Which parts...?”

“The matter with the note was a lie,” Ansu said coldly. “I had no intention of threatening Freya. I was only hoping she would come save me.”

“My supposed desire for transcendent power, my claim of being looked down upon... it was all a fabrication! I only wanted to evoke your sympathy and make you think we were of the same kind.”

Her dark red pupils constricted violently, and Celia's trembling hand tightened its grip.

“All that intelligence from the Church... Freya gave it to me of her own accord,” Ansu wheezed, his breathing growing labored, yet he continued to speak without a shred of hesitation. “Because she trusted me. She truly believed I was her Lord Chosen One...!”

“And then, taking advantage of the trust both sides placed in me, I played both ends against the middle. You, Samantha, the archbishops... every single one of you was played like a fiddle!”

The sensation of suffocation grew stronger and stronger.

“And also...”

“Enough! Stop talking!” Celia cried, unable to listen any longer, her voice raspy and desperate. “Shut up! I order you to shut up!!”

“Right from our very first meeting... I was lying.” Ansu's vision began to dim, but he gritted his teeth and pushed the words out anyway.

“There was never any promise of loyalty. Not a single day went by where I didn't want to escape from you!”

“Celia, you are an awful, capricious woman. You have no normal values... you just do whatever you want...”

He managed to squeeze out a mocking smile.

“Those promises... don't you find them laughable yourself?”

“Ansu!!!” Celia completely broke down.

“I'm going to kill you! I will absolutely kill you!!”

Her screams echoed through the mine, laced with shattered, tearful sobs. Love and hate tangled together, threatening to tear her entire being apart.

Her cheeks cracked as a terrifying, filthy aura continuously radiated from her.

Perfect.

The emotions this time were also spot on.

Ansu, acting as the mastermind behind the scenes, nodded in satisfaction.

However, the Filthy Heart could no longer sit still.

Through the layered illusions, the slowly beating heart throbbed faster and faster, letting out a series of sharp, low shriek-like wails.

Its cries were filled with unmistakable terror.

It was terrified, to the point where it was unwilling to continue participating in Ansu's dangerous plan...

But Ansu had no intention of stopping.

Sneering, he pulled out an 【Annihilation Grenade】 and casually set it down at his feet.

“Cooperate, or I'll blow you to pieces.”

Under this blatant threat, the Filthy Heart's wails immediately softened, and its churning flesh and tentacles quieted down significantly.

Ansu's gaze drifted back to Celia.

She stood there in a daze, still trapped in the lingering aftereffects of the previous illusion.

The filthy aura around her was growing heavier by the second, swirling like black flames. All the flesh and tentacles around her shrank back in sheer terror.

Ansu pondered silently.

Right now, there was disappointment, anger, love, and hate...

What was still missing?

Right... despair.

The heart-wrenching despair and sorrow of watching the one you love die in your arms, completely powerless to stop it.

Without pausing for even a single second to dwell on Celia's love and hate, the next scene emerged—

The Eastern Wasteland, the underground ruins of the ancient demons!

By that point, they had already been through so much together, and their feelings had quietly deepened.

In their quest to find the demon army's treasure, the two had been relentlessly pursued by demons and cultists alike, only to accidentally trigger a horrific sacrificial ritual.

Endless waves of undead forced them into a corner, pushing them to the brink of death multiple times.

Celia had sworn in her heart countless times: she had to survive together with Ansu! She wanted to share a warm, beautiful future with him—one she had never dared to dream of before!

Ansu still remembered his "last words" on the verge of death.

“Celia... live. You must live!”

“For my sake, you have to win. You must end this damned sacrificial ritual...”

In the end, relying on the use of 【Feign Death】, Ansu had triggered Celia to go dark and unleash her hidden potential, slaughtering every single enemy.

Everything seemed to have quieted down.

But the joy of regaining what was lost did not last long. The will of the God of Slaughter suddenly descended, ruthlessly extinguishing every last spark of life in Ansu without a shred of mercy.

And the poor Miss Witch...

Just when she thought the bitter struggle had finally borne sweet fruit, and while she was still envisioning their future together only a second prior...

She was plunged into the dark abyss the very next moment.

Nothing could possibly be more painful or more despair-inducing than this.

And this particular death of Ansu's had even split into three distinct Bad End timelines that led straight to destruction.

...

Shortly after.

All three scenes had played out completely.

Celia's hollow eyes looked as though her soul had been hollowed out. She stood frozen in place, dazed.

A second later, two streaks of blood tears slowly rolled down her pale, fractured cheeks.

Standing behind the curtain of the illusion, Ansu could feel Miss Witch's layered, intense emotions that were on the verge of erupting.

Disappointment, rage, hatred...

Despair...

Suddenly.

Her entire body trembled uncontrollably as an agonizing pain tore at her consciousness. Black, filthy mana surged toward the sky, completely out of control.

Once again, Ansu bore witness to that Black Flame which was powerful enough to burn the world to ashes.

A violent tremor shook the surroundings, causing the entire ground to shudder.

He could clearly feel the terror of the Filthy Heart. Its shrill wails repeatedly pierced his consciousness, begging him to stop, asking if they could just end this here.

Peering through the layers of illusions, Ansu cast a cold glance at the frantically throbbing heart.

Of course not.

It wasn't over yet!
