Chapter 116 WAAAGH! Dimension

  • Next Chapter

After Vane shattered the black sphere with his pickaxe, a slowly swirling green vortex materialized in front of the group.

“Is this the entrance to the WAAAGH! dimension?” Big E’s face showed a mix of surprise and regret. If he had known this thing was buried beneath Ullanor back in the day, he would have settled the Ork problem once and for all.

Eldrad and Trazyn also couldn’t hide their anticipation and curiosity. They were dying to see exactly what kind of relics the Old Ones had left behind. As they stepped up to the vortex, the extreme warping of space and time around it was impossible to ignore.

Passing through the portal, Vane found himself in a bizarre, sprawling dimension bathed in a sickly green luminescence. Endless waves of deafening WAAAGH! roars crashed against their ears, sounding like a billion Greenskins screaming directly into their skulls. It was a good thing none of them were ordinary mortals; just the sheer volume of that psychic howling would have shattered a normal mind.

“So this is the WAAAGH! space. Endless and boundless, just like the Warp.”

“Are the minds of all Greenskins hooked up to this place? You have to admit, the Old Ones were definitely cooking up something wild.”

“Pulling this off is basically the equivalent of building a brand new Immaterium from scratch.”

Big E, Eldrad, and Trazyn trailed closely behind Vane, taking in their surroundings with open awe. The emerald glow of the WAAAGH! space was like a boundless ocean. One moment it was boiling and churning, and the next it surged into towering tidal waves that threatened to swallow everything whole. Occasionally, the energy would coalesce into bizarre Ork architecture or the colossal ruins of sprawling cities, leaving them marveling at the sheer scale of it. As they trekked forward, phantoms of long-dead Greenskins and fleeting memory fragments flickered into view, painting an astonishing picture.

It was painfully obvious that this was an Immaterium strictly reserved for the Orks. Every Greenskin’s consciousness and soul was tethered to this place. When they died, their essence was yanked right back into this dimension, either merging into the massive collective hive mind or chilling out while waiting to respawn.

With Vane leading the charge, the group ventured deeper. He followed the instructions from that dusty tome he snagged out of the Black Library, hunting for the control terminal left behind by the Old Ones. Occasionally, spectral Ork projections would pop up next to the party, let out a thunderous roar, and then scatter like dust in the wind. These were echoes of the past, lingering in this dimension purely because of the extreme emotions tied to them.

However, unlike the Warp, the WAAAGH! space didn’t suffer from continuous, corrupting psychic reverberations that birthed Neverborn. These leftover extreme emotions eventually just bled back into the collective Ork consciousness. In a way, the WAAAGH! dimension felt a lot closer to what the Warp was like before the War in Heaven—just a bit less polished.

Vane’s crew navigated through the phantom-crafted Ork city until they arrived at a remarkably magnificent hall. Unlike everything else they had seen so far, this temple wasn’t some psychic hologram spawned from pure willpower—it was a genuinely physical, brick-and-mortar structure.

Inside the grand hall sat a massive, bone-like control terminal. Countless strands of Wraithbone clung to the walls, covered top to bottom in bizarre, ancient runes. A pulsing green light surged around the base of the console, expanding and contracting like a living, breathing organ. It was profoundly weird.

“Those are the Old Ones’ runes. They’re designed to channel energy and psychic consciousness.” Trazyn recognized the script on the console instantly. Long before he was stuffed into a metallic Necron body, he had been a chief archivist for his dynasty. He had fully participated in the research on the Old Ones, which naturally included cracking their language.

Vane was just stepping up, ready to figure out how to boot up the terminal and tweak the core settings of the entire Ork race. Suddenly, two chubby little kids jumped out of nowhere, blocking his path.

One was hefting a massive axe, and the other slung a spiked club over his shoulder. They looked like they were maybe five or six years old—completely round, pudgy, and flashing cute little snaggletooth grins. They were honestly kind of adorable. While they definitely rocked the trademark green skin and general Ork vibe, it was nearly impossible to associate these little butterballs with the violently psychotic Greenskin hordes.

“Who’re you?”

“Yeah, why’re you barging into our house?!”

Vane stared blankly. Where the hell did these chubby little Greenskins come from? And what were they doing hanging out in a sacred temple left by the Old Ones? What’s more, they were completely solid and bouncing with energy—definitely not like the fragile phantoms that blew away in the breeze outside.

“Who are you guys? And why are you here?” Vane countered.

“I’m Gork!” The chubby kid with the great-axe swung his weapon around, cutting through the air with an impressive whoosh.

“And I’m Mork!” The other pudgy Greenskin smacked his palm with a spiked club that was taller than he was, trying to look incredibly badass.

Both of them put on a totally rebellious, arrogant front, running their mouths with serious attitude. But because they were so ridiculously plump and squishy-looking, even their angriest glares couldn’t make them look menacing. It honestly just looked like they were throwing a cute little temper tantrum.

“Hold up, you two are Gork and Mork?!” Their introduction hit like a thunderbolt. Vane’s eyes went wide with pure, unadulterated disbelief.

No freaking way. The Greenskins were the most violently hardcore, WAAAGH!-obsessed race in the galaxy. And the twin gods they worshipped turned out to look like this? Did the Old Ones suffer a massive concussion when they got tag-teamed by the Necrons and C’tan?

Behind him, Big E, Eldrad, and Trazyn were equally shell-shocked and struggling to process what they were seeing.
