Minecraft: The Conqueror of Multiverse
Chapter 178 The Grey Knight and the Doom Slayer (1)
The moment Vane arrived on Earth in the DOOM universe, he opened his eyes to a city engulfed in flames.
Skyscrapers had been snapped in half, their shattered remains scattered across the streets. Massive chunks of concrete and twisted steel blocked the roads, while overturned cars burned along the sidewalks, occasionally exploding in bursts of fire.
Above the devastation, the sky glowed an unnatural crimson, as though it had been soaked in blood. Violent flashes of lightning periodically tore through the clouds, making the entire scene even more terrifying.
And hovering above the distant city center was an enormous black rift.
Nightmarish creatures poured endlessly from the opening.
Their bodies were grotesque and twisted, with bulging muscles, razor-sharp claws, and flesh covered in metallic plating and jagged bone spikes.
As soon as they emerged, the monsters charged into the city, slaughtering civilians and tearing apart buildings in their path.
Screams, explosions, and monstrous roars blended into a horrifying symphony of destruction.
“HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!”
A desperate scream suddenly reached Vane’s ears.
Following the sound, he soon spotted a particularly unlucky office worker being chased down a street littered with rubble.
And right behind the man was a demon.
The creature stood nearly seven feet tall, with dark crimson skin and muscles bulging beneath its hide. It ran on all fours, its eyes burning with hellfire and its entire appearance radiating savage brutality.
Its enormous mouth was packed with fangs, and thick saliva dripped from its jaws, sizzling as it corroded the pavement.
The poor bastard it was chasing was a young white-collar worker.
Judging by his receding hairline and half-bald head, Vane figured he was probably a programmer.
“God! Zeus! Buddha! ANYBODY! PLEASE HELP ME!”
“I swear I’ll never work overtime again!”
“I HAVEN’T EVEN GOTTEN MARRIED YET! If that thing eats me now, my whole life’s gonna be a freaking waste!”
“WHY DOES MY LIFE HAVE TO SUCK THIS MUCH?!”
The man glanced over his shoulder.
The moment he saw the demon gaining on him, his short legs started pumping even faster.
He desperately wished his parents had given him another pair of legs.
Unfortunately, no matter how fast he ran, there was no outrunning a demon.
The creature suddenly leaped forward and landed directly in his path.
The man slammed on the brakes, spun around, and bolted in the opposite direction.
But the demon simply jumped again.
THUD!
It landed right in front of him.
The creature clearly wasn’t in any hurry to kill its prey.
Like a cat toying with a mouse, it was enjoying every moment of the man’s terror and despair.
Finally, the poor office worker collapsed onto the pavement.
His legs had completely given out.
With nowhere left to run, he squeezed his eyes shut and waited for death.
Please… just don’t let it hurt too much.
“ROOOAAAR!”
Seeing its prey suddenly stop running, the demon flew into a rage.
What the hell?!
It wasn’t done playing yet!
And now this worthless human had the nerve to give up?!
Unacceptable!
It would tear the little bastard to pieces to vent its frustration!
But just as the demon prepared to attack, a figure descended from above.
It was Vane.
He landed beside the creature and casually threw a punch.
BOOOOM!
The demon went flying.
Its massive body slammed into a distant wall with such force that the entire building collapsed around it.
Hearing the deafening crash, the office worker cautiously opened his eyes.
He stared at Vane, then at the demolished building where the demon had disappeared.
His jaw nearly hit the floor.
Holy shit!
That guy just sent that terrifying monster flying with ONE PUNCH!
Before the man could recover from his shock, a notification appeared in front of Vane.
[Conquest Mission Activated: Defeat the Demon and Save the Corporate Wage Slave]
[John, an unfortunate office worker who had just finished working overtime, encountered a demonic invasion the moment he stepped outside his office building.]
[Help him escape his predicament.]
[Mission Rewards: Aegis Terminator Armour ×1, Nemesis Force Halberd ×1, Storm Bolter ×1, Psycannon ×1, Incinerator ×1, Enchanted Golden Apple ×64, Conquest Progress +1%, EMC +1,000, Title: Master Demon Hunter (Increased Damage Against Demons)]
Vane’s eyes lit up as he read the rewards.
Well, would you look at that!
The rewards were practically a complete Grey Knights demon-hunting loadout!
These were weapons and armor blessed by the Emperor himself, specifically designed to slaughter daemons.
Combine that equipment with the Master Demon Hunter title, and fighting demons would be a piece of cake.
He’d be able to mow them down like weeds!
Man, the upgraded Infinite Pocket Dimension really is something else.
It’s handing out equipment this powerful right from the start!
“ROOOAAAR!”
While Vane was admiring his potential rewards, the demon he’d punched away finally crawled out of the rubble.
Its eyes blazed with murderous fury, and a deep growl rumbled from its throat.
Being sent flying by a pathetic human was an insult worse than death.
Only by ripping the insolent creature limb from limb could it wash away such humiliation!
The demon slammed its feet against the ground.
CRACK!
Spiderweb-like fractures spread across the pavement as its dark crimson body launched forward like a cannonball.
Against an ordinary human, that charge would have been more than enough to knock its victim down and tear them apart.
Unfortunately for the demon, its opponent was Vane.
And before it could even reach him, Steve made his move.
Vane’s Stand swung its blocky fist forward.
BAM!
The punch connected squarely with the demon’s skull, triggering the Minecraft knockback effect.
Once again, the creature was sent flying.
This time, however, Vane had no intention of letting it get back up.
He ordered Steve to keep attacking.
One brutal punch followed another until the demon was finally beaten to death.
The moment it died, another notification appeared.
[Mission Completed: Defeat the Demon and Save the Corporate Wage Slave]
[Rewards Obtained: Aegis Terminator Armour ×1, Nemesis Force Halberd ×1, Storm Bolter ×1, Psycannon ×1, Incinerator ×1, Enchanted Golden Apple ×64, Conquest Progress +1%, EMC +1,000, Title: Master Demon Hunter (Increased Damage Against Demons)]
Vane immediately began inspecting his new equipment.
[Item: Aegis Terminator Armour]
[Specialized Terminator Armour custom-built for the Grey Knights. It contains a unique psychic matrix that protects the wearer against the corrupting influence of Warp sorcery. The armor is also equipped with a teleportation device.]
[Evaluation: Equipment specifically designed to counter daemons. Damage inflicted by demonic attacks is significantly reduced.]
[Item: Nemesis Force Halberd]
[One of the Grey Knights’ most commonly used melee weapons. Its haft contains an embedded silver core, allowing it to inflict additional psychic damage against daemons.]
[Evaluation: One swing, and your demon problem turns to ash.]
[Item: Storm Bolter]
[One of the Grey Knights’ standard ranged weapons. It can be mounted on the wrist, leaving both hands free for melee combat at any moment.]
[Evaluation: One shot can put several little demon brats in the dirt. Serious firepower!]
[Item: Psycannon]
[A heavy ranged weapon used by the Grey Knights. Channels psychic energy to unleash devastating torrents of power.]
[Evaluation: One blast clears the battlefield. Demons, begone!]
[Item: Incinerator]
[A close-range weapon used by the Grey Knights. Unleashes purifying psychic flames capable of burning away everything in their path.]
[Evaluation: Burns demons to ashes without leaving a trace.]
“Not bad at all.”
After reading through the equipment descriptions, Vane grinned.
“With a complete Grey Knights loadout, dealing with those demons should be even easier.”
Without hesitation, he equipped the Aegis Terminator Armour.
As the massive suit materialized around him, Vane’s body automatically grew taller to accommodate its enormous proportions.
Within moments, he had transformed into an imposing, heavily armored Grey Knight.
Next, he equipped the Nemesis Force Halberd and Storm Bolter.
The office worker was still sitting on the pavement.
He’d watched the entire transformation from beginning to end, and by now, his mouth was hanging wide open.
What the hell did I just witness?!
Vane, however, paid him no further attention.
Another conquest mission had already appeared.
This one required him to eliminate the demons occupying the city and close the portal connecting Hell to the human world.
