Chapter 162: Chapter 124: Part 2

After all, he only had the Status, without the corresponding abilities to match.

The carriage began to shake violently, and the rocking continued for a full half hour before it stopped.

This couldn’t help but make those following the convoy let their imaginations run wild.

’What on earth is Lord Lian doing in there? Why is the carriage shaking so violently?’

Once the contract was complete, a third rune appeared on Lian’s hand—a mark shaped like a fish scale.

Nancy Stuart also felt a special connection form between herself and Lian. It was as if their minds were now linked.

They could communicate telepathically, even without speaking.

For instance, Nancy Stuart heard Lian saying in his mind, ’Holy crap, that hurt like hell! This contract is vicious.’

Lian heard Nancy Stuart saying in her mind, ’What just happened? Why am I not wearing any clothes, and why does it hurt so much? What did he do to me?’

"This is a Demon contract. It’s to counteract the backlash from your bloodline."

Lian explained.

Nancy Stuart frowned. "Demon?"

"Yes. Half of the blood flowing in your veins is from the Mermaid Race. Technically, that makes you a Demon. Of course, I won’t tell this secret to anyone."

Lian looked at the blood-stained maid dress on the floor and realized he needed to find a clean set of clothes for Nancy Stuart.

He cast another High Level Healing Technique on Nancy Stuart.

This time, the wounds on Nancy Stuart’s body healed completely, and the recurring hypothermia finally stopped.

"Thank you, but I’m a little confused. Am I your servant now, or are you my knight?"

Nancy Stuart asked.

"You are a servant of my great master, Nancy Stuart. If you wish to live, you will remember that for the rest of your life."

Solaya’s Spirit answered Nancy Stuart in Lian’s place.

Nancy Stuart felt an immense pressure, so overwhelming that she nearly prostrated herself on the floor.

It was a completely different feeling from her bloodline’s Awakening. Right now, Nancy Stuart was just an ordinary Five-star Bloodthirsty Assassin.

Only when Solaya’s Spirit returned to the runic mark on Lian’s finger did Nancy Stuart begin to feel some relief.

"Annie, get me a clean set of clothes."

Lian said to Annie, who was outside the carriage.

When the others saw Annie deliver a clean set of clothes into the carriage, they all instantly "understood."

’There must have been an unusually fierce and satisfying battle in there, judging by the frequency of the carriage’s shaking.’

But the Guards were Lian’s die-hard fans. They would absolutely keep their mouths shut about this, not breathing a single word to anyone.

Nancy Stuart put on a long, pure-white dress. The feeling was completely different from when she wore the maid outfit; she looked elegant and beautiful.

The procession set out in the morning. After a two-day journey, they finally reached the border of Yusofa.

The two territories actually bordered each other, so they could have arrived the same day by taking the Magic Train. Unfortunately, when Mary occupied Yusofa, the first thing she took control of was the train.

Lian was unwilling to risk taking his subordinates on a "Mary-brand" train, worried it would be a subway bound for Heaven.

Just because Mary wasn’t killing Lian for now didn’t mean she wouldn’t vent her anger on his subordinates. Even a small "warning" could cost them their lives.

As for Nancy Stuart and the Rose Knight Order, in order to complete the mission Mary had given them, they had no choice but to follow Lian’s group on the long trek.

The army made camp in the border region of Yusofa to recover from their fatigue.

Lian, Nancy Stuart, Annie, and Dora were all in one tent. This forced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alex Pool, who had originally wanted to squeeze into a tent with Lian, to share one with a crude fellow like Kob instead.

Following Lian’s instructions, Nancy Stuart once again put on the resin mask, concealing her world-toppling beauty.

This made Dora and Annie feel slightly better, but they remained united in their animosity, expressing their displeasure with Nancy Stuart.

Nancy Stuart used to be Annie’s superior, and they never had a good relationship. If Lian hadn’t been there to mediate, it felt like the two female Assassins could start fighting at any moment.

However, Annie was clearly no match for Nancy Stuart; she was only a Four-star Assassin.

This sparked Annie’s competitive spirit. She began to train diligently, no longer engrossed in making formal wear for Lian.

"Lord Lian, this is a list of all the Spies and Assassins in the Rose Thorn. They are distributed across 22 territories and counties of the Holy Empire, for a total of 3,681 people."

Nancy Stuart was a Deacon in the Rose Thorn organization, which Mary had founded herself. She was in charge of all the Heartless Assassins and Spies, so it was no surprise that she possessed this complete list.

The Rose Thorn was also hailed as the Empire’s most formidable intelligence organization, a fact that gave even the King a headache.

After all, the King couldn’t just have the Royal Capital’s Church Court conduct entry-testing on the entire population. The Holy Empire’s population was enormous, and the Royal Capital was a major population center with over 9 million people, a true supercity in every sense.

Finding Spies and Assassins among so many people was like finding a needle in a haystack.

Only then did Lian learn that Mary’s intelligence organization was called the Rose Thorn. Looking at the densely packed list, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.

’Mary would never have guessed that the first spy she sent to my side would be the one to betray her.’

"Don’t get happy too soon. Knowing Mary’s personality, it’s impossible for her to trust anyone completely. Nancy Stuart, are you sure this list in your hands is accurate?"

Dora sat down next to Lian, positioning herself between him and Nancy Stuart like a hundred-watt lightbulb.

"Ahem, Miss Magic Box, could you move a little farther away? It’s still summer; we don’t need to huddle together for warmth."

Lian expressed his displeasure.

But Dora was unfazed.

"I know a virus that can cool you down. Would Lord Lian like to try it?"

"No need to be so kind."

Lian refused Dora’s kind offer.

"Mary Frank is indeed a suspicious person, but I’m certain this list is real. All intelligence from these Spies and Assassins is first relayed to me. I then compile and categorize it before summarizing the important information for Mary Frank."

Nancy Stuart said in a level tone.

"I believe you, Nancy. But what Magic Box said isn’t without reason. Perhaps Mary has another intelligence organization that you don’t even know about as a backup. Otherwise, she would never allow one person to control so much information."

Lian analyzed.

Nancy Stuart nodded slightly. "Besides me, there are two other Deacons. They are my deputies. I was assigned to carry out the Moria Plan, so they have now taken over my duties."

The Moria Plan, which was the plan to seduce Lian and destroy the alliance between the Blue Moon Territory and the Green Shade Territory.

"We enter Yusofa tomorrow. What are your plans?"

Lian asked.

"If you require intelligence, it might be more valuable for me to return to Mary Frank’s side."

Nancy Stuart said.

Dora’s and Annie’s eyes lit up, hoping Nancy Stuart would do as she said and leave immediately.

"But I hope to remain by your side."

Nancy Stuart’s tone shifted, and Dora and Annie both snorted derisively at the same time.

"It’s too dangerous for you to go back now. You’re no longer one of the Heartless, and Mary might notice. It’s safer for you to stay with me. You can use the opportunity to feed her false information. Just pretend you’ve already completed your mission."

Lian poured himself a cup of tea and took a sip. The tea from the Green Shade Territory... its taste was still as indescribable as ever. It was only good enough for mouthwash.

He started to miss the coffee Anna used to make. Unfortunately, Annie didn’t know how.

"I’ll stay on as your mistress."

Nancy Stuart reminded him.

Lian spat out a mouthful of tea. The innocent Dora, sitting between the two, perfectly received the full blast of secondhand tea.

Dora angrily grabbed Lian’s sleeve and wiped the tea from her face. "Can you be more careful next time?"

"Uh, right. I didn’t do it on purpose."

"If word gets back that Nancy Stuart has become Lord Lian’s first mistress, my sister will be devastated."

Annie said with a dejected expression.

"If word gets back that Nancy Stuart has become Lian’s first mistress, Catherine might get depression."

Dora added.

Lian put a hand to his forehead. "I’m going to write a letter to Catherine right away. And, uh, I’ll write one to Anna and Sophie, too, to clarify that I absolutely do not have a mistress. Nancy Stuart, you need to remember this too. This is just an expedient measure. Our relationship is completely platonic."

A small smile played on Nancy Stuart’s lips. She just loved a challenging man like Lian.
