Chapter 609: The God of Time

"You are a god?"

Loren asked back, and he even began to suspect that his ability might be malfunctioning.

But this was the Perpetual Observer's authority, no one's status could be high enough to influence the Perpetual Observer.

"Didn't you tell me to lie?"

Starnight tilted her head, somewhat confused.

"But what you said was the truth..."

Now it was Starnight's turn to be dumbfounded. To make things easier for Loren's research, she had deliberately chosen an especially absurd lie, yet Loren said it was the truth.

"What? How is that possible?"

Loren was also pondering what on earth was going on. He still hadn't figured out the principle behind this lie-detection ability of his.

Could it be that it detected emotional fluctuations? Starnight knew she was just casually telling Loren a lie, so her heart was completely calm, and Loren couldn't detect her deception.

But if that were the case, this lie-detection ability would be useless, since Loren could already achieve this through his Sensitive Heart.

"Try telling another lie."

"You are not an adult."

Loren asked several questions in a row, and the results were all lies. Finally, Loren decided to ask questions he already knew the answers to:

"Normal people's blood is green."

"I am not."

Truth.

"The existence of the Orthodox Gods does more good than harm to the world."

"I am not."

Truth.

"The God of Light and Fire is called Little Red."

"I am not."

Lie.

Loren was somewhat surprised by this test result. He knew the true name of the God of Light and Fire.

Even if the name he knew was false, there was no way he could just randomly blurt out a name and hit the mark, right?

"The God of Light and Fire is called Amy."

"I am not."

"Lie."

"..."

At this point, Loren suddenly understood.

It seemed that whenever Starnight didn't know something, it would be identified as a lie.

Loren thought back to the questions he had asked at the very beginning. They were identified as lies simply because Starnight didn't know the answers.

After confirming this, Loren felt somewhat regretful. It seemed he couldn't achieve omniscience and omnipotence through this ability.

However, Loren discovered a new point of doubt. Starnight didn't know her own age, but when Loren had said she was underage earlier, her denial had shown as the truth.

Loren thought of something else and continued testing:

"From now on, no matter what I say, you must admit it."

"You don't know your own age."

"Yes."

Truth.

"You are under one hundred years old."

"Yes."

Lie.

"You are over one hundred years old."

"Yes."

Truth.

"..."

Now Loren was even more puzzled. Starnight didn't know her age, but when Loren said she was over one hundred years old, it showed as the truth.

Suddenly, Loren thought of something:

"You have lost many memories."

"Yes."

Truth.

In that instant, Loren suddenly understood the principle behind this lie-detection ability of his.

It really was related to omniscience, but it didn't know everything in the world. It simply knew everything about the person being questioned.

For example, Starnight herself didn't know her own age, yet the lie-detection ability could tell.

As for the most important question, Loren confirmed it once more:

"You are a god."

"Yes."

Truth.

"You have met the various Orthodox Gods."

"Yes."

Truth.

"You have met the Perpetual Observer."

"Yes."

Truth.

"You have met the Dawn Princess."

"Yes."

Truth.

"You are over one thousand years old."

"Yes."

Lie.

"..."

This string of clues connected together, causing Loren to think of many things.

Starnight had met the Dawn Princess and the Perpetual Observer, which meant she was from the same era as the Dawn Princess.

But her age was under one thousand years old. That was simply impossible, unless she had traveled through time.

Loren thought back to the contents he had seen in the Dawn Princess's diary earlier. At that time, two Witches had obtained authority.

One of them had her existence erased, and the other had disappeared from this timeline.

The one whose existence was erased was definitely the Secret Witch, and the other one was Starnight.

Loren excitedly cupped Starnight's face with both hands and continued questioning.

This really wasn't Loren's fault for being excited. If this was true, his camp would be gaining a god-level combat power directly, which would be an enormous boost to his plans going forward.

If Starnight could truly wield her authority, she should have shown her god-level combat power back when they were besieged by the Angels.

"No matter what god I am, I am still your little pet."

Perhaps Witches were naturally born capable of wielding authority.
