Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted

Chapter 618: The Extinction of Humanity

  • Next Chapter

In this magical world, there was only one person who could create something so scientific.

Noah, and it had to be Noah who had inherited the legacy of the Dawn Society.

After all, Loren himself had originally studied automation engineering, so at most he could teach Noah some mechanics. He knew nothing about this kind of stuff, so the fertilizer could only have been developed by Noah himself.

"But why would Noah do this?"

That was what Loren couldn't understand. Under Loren's deliberate guidance, Noah's hatred for the God of Confusion had transformed into a hatred for all gods.

So there was no way he would do something to help the God of Plague.

And now he had developed a fertilizer, a magical fertilizer with absurdly effective results. Not only would it strengthen the God of Plague, but it would also deal a devastating blow to the God of Bountiful Harvest.

The God of Bountiful Harvest was able to gather faith precisely because he could keep people fed, which also led to them having far too many idle thoughts born of having full bellies.

The Plague Church had always advertised itself as advanced and civilized, and anyone with half a brain would know that was complete bullshit.

But those well-fed Bountiful followers were different. They actually believed it.

So if someone told them now that the God of Plague could also keep people fed, they wouldn't hesitate even for a second to switch sides.

And these people made up a considerable portion, priding themselves on being clear-headed and rational.

"Where did this thing come from?"

Loren pressed on. He guessed the fertilizer hadn't been around for long, which meant Noah should still be here.

"Th...the Church distributed it..."

The farmer answered hesitantly. He was genuinely scared, so he answered whatever Loren asked. Loren was clearly no ordinary person.

After confirming this was the truth, Loren turned and left immediately. He was afraid that if he delayed, Noah would run off.

"All of you, find a place to hide. I'll go find Noah myself."

Back on Starnight's back, Loren roughly explained the situation to the others.

Noah was completely different now, and Loren wasn't sure whether he could still fully control him.

The Dawn Society was a terrifying organization. If the gods hadn't wiped them out ahead of time, humanity might already be in the interstellar age by now, they might even have developed a two-dimensional foil.

So Loren planned to be cautious.

If he could still control Noah, he'd let him continue being a slave.

If not, then Loren would have to reluctantly part with him and kill him.

"Please be careful, Master Mentor."

Before he left, Starnight offered a word of concern.

"Mhm."

Loren nodded. He wasn't sure he could continue controlling Noah, but that didn't mean Noah posed much of a threat to him.

What Loren worried about was only that Noah might destroy the entire world just to deal with the Orthodox Gods.

Loren then came to the nearest church. There weren't many people here, so Loren casually grabbed the bishop and began interrogating him.

The fertilizer matter wasn't a secret. The bishop knew the fertilizer had been shipped from the church in the Royal Capital, but he didn't know about Noah's existence, assuming the fertilizer was something the church had developed itself.

So Loren went straight to the church in the Royal Capital and started searching the place.

With the Hermit card and the High Tower card, Loren moved through the church unimpeded.

Finally, in the underground laboratory of the church, Loren discovered a familiar figure.

The man had a head of messy white hair, wore a white lab coat, and his blue eyes held not a single spark of life, like a walking corpse.

At that moment, he was busy feeding something to several bound people, and anyone with half a brain could tell it definitely wasn't anything good.

"Noah."

Hearing Loren's voice, Noah finally turned his head.

Compared to before, Noah looked much more human now, at least he had some meat on his bones. The Plague Church had been keeping him well fed all this time.

"So it really is you."

"Observer... were you just calling me?"

Noah pointed at himself, looking utterly bewildered. His address for Loren had also changed from "Master Mentor" to "Observer."

"No shit, is there anyone else here named Noah?"

Loren glanced around Noah's current laboratory and casually found a place to sit down.

"So my name is Noah..."

Noah looked as if he'd just had an epiphany. By this point, Loren could already tell something was off:

"What happened to you during this time?"

Noah's current condition was very strange, so Loren asked an extra question.

"After I left you, I returned to the territory of the God of Confusion.

"Just as I was planning to continue my revenge, I inexplicably ended up in a place. If I had to describe it, I 'clipped' my way in."

"Clipped in?"

Noah's wording was strange, but Loren didn't interrupt him and continued listening to his story:

"It was a very strange place, dim lighting, an unchanging liminal space... oh right, it was called the Backrooms."

"The Backrooms?"

Loren wasn't particularly surprised that the Backrooms actually existed.

"There, I found the ruins of the Dawn Society that you mentioned.

"That was when I finally understood why the gods feared the Dawn Society, the power of technology is terrifying!"

Now Loren finally understood why he couldn't find the ruins of the Dawn Society. They were in the Backrooms.

"After that, I kept studying there until I memorized all the knowledge of the Dawn Society and also learned that you are the Perpetual Observer.

"However, after I came out of the Backrooms, I found that I had forgotten a lot of things, including even my own name. It might be the effect of that magical potion of yours, or it might be because I learned too much knowledge.

"Now, I only remember you and my beloved, as well as the gods I must kill."

Loren felt somewhat emotional. Noah had even forgotten his own name, but he still remembered Loren.

Though this was a good thing. Since Noah regarded him as so important, it meant he was still under control.

"Alright, these aren't important. Tell me, what was your purpose in developing this fertilizer?"

Hearing Loren ask about this, Noah revealed a smile:

"This fertilizer is my masterpiece. I utilized the authorities of the Outer Gods and part of the Plague, combined with technology, and finally developed this fertilizer.

"This fertilizer will be affected by the authority of Bountifulness, but its own effects are already absurd enough. Even if Bountifulness is stripped away, a bountiful harvest can still be achieved with this fertilizer!

"This fertilizer can be used anywhere, including in the territory of the God of Bountiful Harvest. Using it there will produce even more exaggerated results.

"So the Bountiful Church will also use this fertilizer, and my fertilizer will spread across the entire world..."

At this point, Noah suddenly couldn't hold back his laughter anymore, letting out a series of bone-chilling cackles:

"Every person will eat food grown with my fertilizer, and in the end, they will all die simultaneously! There won't be any time to react!"

Noah spread his arms wide, his laughter growing more and more manic:

"In the end, all of humanity will die! The gods will lose all their faith and be completely toppled from their divine thrones!"
