Chapter 623: The Stone That Made a Mythic Beast

Marcus quickly used Gathering on the Golden Rabbit King’s corpse.

Golden Eye: Special item. Energy orbs developed by the Golden Rabbit King after consuming the Seven-Leaf Carrot. When used, they allow the user to see through all illusions, mazes, secret passages, stealth, and other hidden effects.

Golden Rabbit Meat: Mythic-grade cooking ingredient. Tender and delicious. Depending on the chef’s skill, dishes made from it can grant bonuses to Luck and Defense.

These were all top-tier Mythic Beast materials. The Golden Rabbit King Fur alone was worth getting excited about. Adding 5-12 points of Luck to a piece of equipment was an absurd bonus, especially when Marcus had already seen firsthand how useful high Luck could be.

But the Golden Eyes were even more appealing.

They could see through illusions, hidden passages, stealth, mazes, and other concealed effects. With four of them in hand, Marcus would have far fewer headaches when dealing with sealed areas or powerful formations blocking his path.

’Sweet!’

And the Mythic-grade meat was nothing to complain about either. He could take it back and have it cooked for everyone. If the resulting dishes really increased Luck and Defense, his entire squad would benefit.

Still, the thing that truly got Marcus excited was what happened when he finished Gathering.

Seed Extraction had been triggered.

The moment the seeds appeared in his hand, Marcus’s face broke into a grin.

He immediately opened his communication interface and sent Alana a message.

"Alana, I got seeds for the Divine-grade Seven-Leaf Carrot!"

Who would have thought the Golden Rabbit King would be carrying so many treasures?

The Newbie Village Unique Treasure Map, Rabbit Path, was clearly intended to be a huge opportunity for some lucky newbie. Anyone who managed to defeat the Golden Rabbit King could potentially walk away with a fortune.

Of course, Marcus knew better than to attribute all of this to luck alone.

His own ridiculous Luck stat and Advanced Gathering had undoubtedly played a major role.

Once the corpse had been completely harvested, the pile of loot underneath it was finally exposed in full. Marcus quickly scooped everything up and began sorting through it.

Thanks to the Golden Rabbit King’s high Luck, the amount of loot was enormous. Strangely enough, though, there were no particularly impressive weapons or pieces of armor. Most of the equipment was made up of strange miscellaneous items that Marcus had never seen before.

The best weapon was a delicate rabbit-themed staff, while the best piece of armor was a pair of running shoes engraved with cute rabbit motifs.

Both were Level 50 Golden equipment.

Useless to him.

Marcus looked at the two items for a moment before putting them away with the rest.

’Disappointing.’

Then, just as he was about to move on, something caught his eye.

Two emerald-green carrot leaves were connected at their base, and the faint divine aura surrounding them immediately made Marcus stop.

The Seven-Leaf Carrot.

He quickly checked its description.

Seven-Leaf Carrot: Divine-grade fruit. One of the treasures born from the concentrated energy within Newbie Village. When mature, it manifests as seven connected carrot leaves. After consumption, the seven leaves are digested one by one, releasing their energy gradually.

Effect: Can be refined into medicine or fed directly to pets to greatly boost their abilities. This particular carrot has already had five leaves digested, with two leaves of energy remaining.

Marcus stared at the description for a second before his grin widened. So the Golden Rabbit King had only managed to absorb five of the seven leaves.

The remaining two were his now.

’Excellent!’

A Divine-grade fruit was already an incredible treasure, and Marcus had an even more important use for it in mind.

He immediately messaged Alana again.

"Alana, I got the Seven-Leaf Carrot, and it still has two leaves of energy left. Can you refine it into something stronger? Or maybe use it to cure Camillo’s injuries?"

Not far from him, Camillo, the stunningly alluring Vixen Queen, glanced over curiously.

At the moment, Camillo’s level was already 53, while her current growth limit was only 60. Marcus had been looking for a way to treat her ever since learning that her injuries were preventing her from developing properly.

Fortunately, Alana had previously told him that if they could find suitable Mythic-grade or higher ingredients, she might be able to treat the energy deviation that had been plaguing Camillo.

Marcus sincerely hoped the Seven-Leaf Carrot would be enough.

If it worked, Camillo’s injuries could finally be healed, allowing her to break through the restriction on her growth. And if her condition improved, the bond between them would naturally become even closer.

His communication interface lit up almost immediately.

"Yes, Master!"

Alana’s reply followed.

"I’ll study the Seven-Leaf Carrot’s properties right away and see if I can develop a formula. I’ll be waiting for you at our place in Dragon’s Peak Citadel."

"Got it!"

Marcus answered happily before turning his attention back to the loot. There were still several items worth examining.

Two immediately stood out: a powerful skill scroll and a peculiar golden gemstone. Marcus picked up the skill scroll first.

Clone Golden Burst Charge: High-grade skill scroll. Requirement: Level 50+ melee class. This scroll contains the ultimate skill mastered by the Mythic Beast Golden Rabbit King.

Effect: Upon activation, the user summons five clones. Together with the main body, they perform Golden Burst Charge against all enemies within a wide area, dealing massive damage while inflicting Metal-element Stun and powerful Knockback effects.

Marcus stared at the description. He was speechless. He had actually looted the Golden Rabbit King’s ultimate skill.

That was insane.

The only drawback was the limited number of uses, but considering how powerful the skill was, Marcus could understand why. Eighty-eight uses was still an enormous number, and unlike ordinary skill books, this scroll had essentially preserved the ultimate ability of a Mythic Beast.

Without hesitation, Marcus carefully stored it in his inventory.

He then picked up the strange golden gemstone.

It was heavier than it looked and surprisingly plain, almost like an ordinary rock. Yet waves of golden energy radiated from within it, making it obvious that there was nothing ordinary about it.

Marcus examined its description.

Golden Sky Stone: Special item. When the Golden Rabbit King was still a Corrupted Rabbit, it found this beautiful golden stone in a valley near Newbie Village and kept it as a toy.

Unbeknownst to the rabbit, the Golden Sky Stone contained a mysterious energy. Although the Corrupted Rabbit did not know what the stone was or how to use it, after consuming the Seven-Leaf Carrot and beginning its evolution, the Golden Sky Stone’s influence was what ultimately transformed it into the Golden Rabbit King.

Moreover, in just over twenty years, the rabbit had grown from a minor monster into a Level 50 Mythic Beast, all because of the stone.

Marcus finally understood. ’So that’s what happened.’

The Seven-Leaf Carrot had obviously played an enormous role in the rabbit’s evolution, but the Golden Sky Stone had been just as important, perhaps even more so than he had initially realized.

The frustrating part was that the description still did not explain what the Golden Sky Stone actually was.

The Golden Rabbit King had never understood it, and neither did Marcus.

Still, Marcus’s instincts told him that this thing was definitely not ordinary. There was no point guessing blindly when he could simply take it back to Dragon’s Peak Citadel and have an appraiser examine it.

He carefully stored the Golden Sky Stone as well.

The remaining loot consisted of some blue-quality trash equipment, five Dreamland Gems, and five particularly bizarre special items.

Marcus checked them one by one.

Village Chief’s Cane: Special item. The Newbie Village Chief commissioned a Divine-grade carpenter to carve this fine dark willow cane. It was his favorite possession, but the Golden Rabbit King stole it during a battle.

Little Tiger’s Slingshot: Special item. Little Tiger’s favorite slingshot from Newbie Village. Since Little Tiger disappeared, his mother has been frantically searching the rocky shoals east of the village, muttering that if anyone can find her son, she’ll tell them a massive secret.

Lamp-Grass: Special item. Dropped by a traveler passing through Newbie Village whom the Golden Rabbit King killed. The local Herbalist may know something useful about it.

Torn Handkerchief: Special item. A half-torn handkerchief taken from another traveler killed by the Golden Rabbit King. It is embroidered with the words: "You travel a thousand miles, one cup of tears."

Unopenable Box: Special item. The Dark Assassin Seven-Soul Devil found this strange box in a secret realm but was unable to open it. The Golden Rabbit King later stole it.

Marcus’s expression became increasingly strange as he read through the descriptions. These five items were obviously not random junk.

They were quest items.

The Village Chief’s cane, Little Tiger’s slingshot, the lamp-grass, the torn handkerchief, and the unopenable box each seemed to be connected to some hidden quest or secret in Newbie Village. There was no way the system would give them such specific descriptions for no reason.

He would have to ask the Village Chief about them.

The problem was that Marcus had already left Newbie Village, and as far as he knew, there was no way to return once he departed.

’What a headache.’

Still, there was nothing he could do about it for now. He stored all five items safely in his inventory, making sure not to lose track of them.

Looking at the enormous pile of loot he had obtained from the Golden Rabbit King, Marcus could not help but marvel.

That rabbit had really been a walking treasure chest.

Its Lucky Gold passive was probably the main reason for the ridiculous amount of loot. Monsters with exceptionally high Luck naturally had better chances of dropping valuable items, and the Golden Rabbit King had clearly been blessed in that regard.

What Marcus did not know was that without his own absurd Luck triggering the massive loot explosion, obtaining even one or two of those five special items would have been a miracle.

"Blackie, let’s move!"

With everything valuable safely stored away, Marcus called out cheerfully.

Blackie immediately responded and began moving deeper into the Divine Bamboo Paradise.

Lyanna, the fierce and striking Wyvern Saint Knight, rode on Marcus’s right, while Camillo, the enchanting Vixen Queen, glided along on his left. With his companions gathered around him, Marcus continued deeper into the mysterious paradise.

Their destination was clear.

The Panda King’s pet egg was still waiting somewhere inside.
