Chapter 635: Shadow Dragon Assassin, Which Class to Choose?

  • Next Chapter

Marcus had no idea which one to pick.

But Wind God Supreme Assassin Gale was being so enthusiastic about it that there was no point in being overly polite or pretending he had a preference. Marcus simply spoke his mind. "Elder, in that case, why don’t you just give me all of them?"

"All of them?"

Gale nearly stumbled off the Wind God Supreme Dragon, and for a moment he looked as though he might actually plant his face in the ground. He stared at Marcus in disbelief before shouting, "Kid, you’re really something else! You’re greedy as hell!"

He simply could not believe those words had come from the mouth of a prestigious Temple Knight. Glaring at Marcus as though he had just discovered the most shameless person on the entire continent, Gale growled, "Pick one. Just one!"

’Ugh...’

Why only one?

Marcus’s face tightened with frustration. Since he had to compromise, he thought for a moment before saying, "Then just class-change me into your current class, Elder."

If Gale really was the greatest assassin on the Dreamland Continent, then surely his own class would be the best choice.

"..."

Gale’s eyes widened.

He stared at Marcus as though he had suddenly grown a second head.

For several seconds, the old man said nothing. He looked as if he wanted to drag the shameless knight over and carve him into pieces with his own daggers.

What kind of ridiculous request was this?!

But then Gale remembered the monstrous talent skill, Heart of Agility.

The old man who usually made everyone else miserable could only swallow his frustration. After taking a deep breath and forcing down his anger, he snapped, "No. You can only choose from the assassin classes I listed earlier."

’Unbelievable. Not this one, not that one.’

Marcus’s expression darkened. Then what was the point of class-changing at all?

He was beginning to understand the situation perfectly. Nothing this good ever came for free. Gale had met him only once, discovered that he possessed Heart of Agility, and immediately become so eager to give him an assassin class that it almost seemed too good to be true.

There had to be a catch.

This clearly wasn’t going to be as simple as Gale had made it sound.

Marcus wasn’t about to let himself get the short end of the stick, either. Besides, asking to inherit Gale’s own class wasn’t exactly an unreasonable request. Back then, King of the Mountains Liam Windrunner had taught Marcus everything he knew without holding anything back, so why should he settle for some lesser class now when the strongest assassin standing right in front of him was offering him a chance?

Thinking back to the overwhelming combat power Gale had displayed earlier, Marcus could not help feeling a little envious.

’Fine.’

Seeing Gale’s temper beginning to flare again, Marcus deliberately put on a regretful expression and said, "Elder, I don’t want to change into a class with limited growth potential. Maybe we should just forget about it. I’ll wait for another opportunity in the future."

’This brat actually looked down on these hidden classes? How arrogant!’

Gale was furious.

"You little..."

Wind God Supreme Assassin Gale was already preparing to unleash a torrent of curses when he suddenly remembered something important.

This kid’s current class was a Unique Hidden Class, the Temple Knight.

It was one of the greatest classes on the entire Dreamland Continent, a class whose status was comparable to that of the legendary Dragon Knight. And when Gale recalled what he had seen earlier through his Grandmaster-level Insight, especially those ridiculous attributes and skills, the words caught in his throat suddenly died there.

He had to admit it.

Those hidden assassin classes that seemed extraordinarily powerful to ordinary players really might have limited potential compared to the Temple Knight.

No wonder this kid wasn’t interested.

With talent and potential like his, forcing him into one of those assassin classes might actually restrict his future growth. In other words, the kid’s reasoning was completely sound.

"You..."

Gale opened his mouth, then closed it again.

He struggled for a while, unable to come up with a convincing rebuttal. In the end, he could only let out a long sigh and tell Marcus the truth.

"Kid, it’s not that I don’t want to give you the Wind God Supreme Assassin class."

As he spoke, Gale patted the enormous Divine Beast beneath him, the Wind God Supreme Dragon.

"Wind God Supreme Assassin is a class I created myself. I combined the strengths of multiple assassin classes with the abilities of my Divine Beast, then incorporated several divine-grade skill scrolls into its design. It’s a class that surpasses ordinary assassin classes by a considerable margin."

Gale paused, then looked at Marcus seriously.

"But there’s one problem. To class-change into the Wind God Supreme Assassin, you need to possess a wind-element Divine Dragon as your pet. And not just any dragon will do."

So that was it. He needed a wind-element Divine Dragon.

Marcus thought about it for a moment before summoning his own Divine Beast. A brilliant, seven-colored radiance flashed through the air.

The Seven-Colored Divine Eagle appeared beside him.

The magnificent creature immediately flew around Marcus affectionately, circling him as though showing off its presence to Gale.

"Elder, I don’t have a wind-element Divine Dragon, but I do have a wind-element Divine Beast. Would this work? Can I use this pet to class-change?"

"Divine Beast, Seven-Colored Divine Eagle..."

Gale froze.

As Wind God Supreme Assassin, he had naturally heard of the guardian beast of the Sky Eagle Tribe, one of the ancient Hundred Races. Yet knowing about the Seven-Colored Divine Eagle was one thing, and actually seeing one appear before him was another.

He stared at the magnificent creature circling Marcus, completely stunned.

He had already been shocked when he saw Marcus’s Super Divine Mount, the Nightmare Dragon Steed. That alone had forced Gale to reassess the young knight standing before him.

But now, in the blink of an eye, Marcus had summoned another Divine Beast.

Two Divine Beasts?!

For perhaps the first time in a long while, Gale felt genuinely envious of someone else. Still, when Marcus repeated his question, Gale firmly shook his head.

"No. It has to be a dragon."

It had to be a dragon. Seeing how resolute Gale was, Marcus could not help giving him a strange look.

"Elder, you should have said that earlier. You just need a dragon, right? I happen to have one."

"You do?!"

Gale’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

"Yeah."

While Gale was still trying to process what he had just heard, Marcus opened his inventory and took out the Dark Violet Sky Dragon’s pet egg.

"Elder, would this little guy work? It hasn’t hatched yet, but it should be soon."

"Dark Violet Sky Dragon..."

Gale’s mind went blank.

"One of the six great Divine Beasts under the Demon Lord..."

The old man’s expression became completely rigid. For a moment, he looked so stunned that Marcus could almost imagine a string of little Stun icons appearing above his head.

He stared at the pet egg in Marcus’s hand as though it were something he had no business seeing.

Then he slowly muttered, "Stonehaven... the Demon Clan’s lost Dark Violet Sky Dragon pet egg... you took it?"

"Heh..."

Marcus scratched his head and gave an embarrassed chuckle.

"It was just a lucky opportunity. I stole it."

’Stole it.’

Gale was speechless.

He had infiltrated Demon Clan territory more than once in his life. He had slipped through their defenses, fought his way through dangerous areas, and taken countless risks, yet he had never managed to get his hands on a Divine Beast egg.

Not by stealing, and not even by force.

And now this kid was standing in front of him, casually holding the Demon Clan’s lost Dark Violet Sky Dragon pet egg and admitting that he had simply stolen it.

Gale suddenly felt that the world was being rather unfair.

Marcus, however, was more concerned with whether the requirements had been met. He pointed toward the Seven-Colored Divine Eagle and then toward the Dark Violet Sky Dragon’s pet egg.

"Elder, is this enough? I have the wind-element Divine Beast, and the dragon is about to hatch. Can I class-change now?"

"I said a wind-element Divine Dragon."

Gale gave him an irritated, almost jealous look.

"Not a wind-element Divine Beast and a dragon."

Marcus fell silent.

Gale was silent as well, his eyes remaining fixed on the Dark Violet Sky Dragon’s pet egg.

After a moment, the old man’s expression changed slightly, as though he had suddenly remembered something.

"Kid, with your talent, changing into an ordinary hidden class really would be a waste."

He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"And since you already have the Dark Violet Sky Dragon’s pet egg, it reminds me of an ancient assassin class."

’An ancient assassin class?’

Marcus’s interest immediately returned. That sounded promising.

"Elder, what class?"

Gale looked at him and slowly enunciated each word.

"Shadow Dragon Assassin."

Marcus’s eyes lit up.

"Shadow Dragon Assassin?"

"A class that requires a dark-element Divine Dragon to unlock," Gale explained. "It possesses devastating attack power while moving like a ghost on the battlefield. The Shadow Dragon Assassin was once the Demon Clan’s deadliest assassin class."

’Shadow Dragon Assassin...’

Marcus had heard of Dragon Knights, he had heard of Dragon Warriors, but a Dragon Assassin? That was something he had never encountered before.

And the name alone sounded ridiculously badass.

More importantly, it was a combat-type assassin class, exactly the kind of class he wanted if he was going to add an assassin path to his Temple Knight.

Marcus did not hesitate for even a second.

"Deal!"

He looked at Gale with a decisive grin.

"Elder, make me a Shadow Dragon Assassin!"
