Chapter 1806 1806: An Unintended Guest
Back at the Shadow Plane.
Rumble…
"…So soon?"
Feeling the entire Shadow Plane start to quake all of a sudden, a brief look of disbelief appeared on Xervei's face as he stared at the young man ahead of him.
At the moment, the latter still had his eyes closed, seemingly ignorant towards the intense rumbling happening throughout the space they were currently in.
Yet, the Overseer of the Shadow Plane knew that the young man at the center of the barrier he conjured… was none other than the reason behind the Shadow Plane's sudden rumbling.
"What's going on?" Though a hint of fear flashed across Florentine's eyes at the Shadow Plane's sudden change, the woman forcefully calmed herself down as she looked at her nephew for more information.
"It seems we've stumbled upon a superb prodigy," replied Xervei after some time, the gears in his mind turning as he tried to wrap his head around the entire thing.
"Though I don't know how he's comprehending the Void Core so quickly, it seems that he has comprehended it deep enough to where the Shadow Plane is rumbling with excitement at his achievement."
"Excitement?" Florentine gave him a look of puzzlement. "What for?"
"An opportunity," the former replied, a hint of anticipation flashing in his eyes. "The Shadow Plane views him as an opportunity."
"An opportunity?" she asked in return, only to then give Xervei a rage-filled glare "Also, you better stop talking in circles if you know what's good for you."
"I was just keeping you in suspense…" Although the latter wanted to make his grand reveal have more impact, Florentine's threat was enough for him to snap back to reality.
Letting out a light cough, he answered her previous question. "By opportunity, what I meant was that the Shadow Plane views Valyr as an opportunity to ascend to an upper concept plane."
"Hmm?" Florentine raised her eyebrow. "Just him?"
"Considering how much the Shadow Plane has grown after he was inducted as a high-level being of the plane, he definitely has the capability." Xervei nodded in confirmation.
"Even if he were to only comprehend the Void Core to the final segment, promoting him to a Director-level position would undoubtedly push the Shadow Plane to that level."
At those words, Florentine could not help but feel a hint of excitement as she stared at Valyr with his eyes still closed.
"To think Valyr has that kind of capability," she muttered, her body faintly shuddering with anticipation. "Who knew the Shadow Plane would be able to notice it in advance?"
Yet, just as Xervei was about to voice out his agreement at her words, a voice unfamiliar to the two responded to her words instead.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that."
Whoosh!
At the moment the two heard those words, both Xervei and Florentine immediately went into defense, pushing their auras to the utmost limit as they turned to look in the direction of the voice they heard.
Though, when they did, the bravado they showed immediately disappeared as a look of fear appeared on their faces.
"How… how are you here?" Looking at the featureless face of the being before them, Xervei mustered up all the courage in his body before asking the being a question.
"Quite simple," replied the being, ignoring how vigilant the two were towards it as it pointed at the young man within the barrier.
"He brought me here."
…
'This shouldn't be happening…'
Realizing where his Shadow Energy was trying to connect, Valyr's expression immediately sank as he proceeded to cut off the connection between the two.
Yet, even after he had cut off the connection between his energy and that faraway place, the Shadow Energy continued to maintain its resonance with it, acting as a sort of beacon that allowed those on the other side to locate his whereabouts.
In fact, the resonance between the two had even become stronger now that Valyr had removed his connection with it, allowing it to grow with every passing second.
'…I fucked up.'
Seeing how his Shadow Energy continued to linger even after all his attempts to dispel it, the young man immediately understood that he had done something that he shouldn't have in the first place.
Then again, how would he have known that converting the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture into something that could be applied to Shadow Energy was actually a taboo?
After all, the only two people he knew that practiced the scripture was him and his other self.
As for those who practiced the scripture and had access to Shadow Energy on top of that… it was possible that only he met that criteria throughout the entire universe.
'Any minute now…' muttered Valyr to himself, sensing that the resonance between it and his Shadow Energy was beginning to manifest into a gate that would allow those on the other side to head over.
Though, just as the gate had started to manifest its framing within the space of the Void Core, the young man felt as if the gate had opened all of a sudden, revealing an entity Valyr's other self was more than familiar with.
"Arcane…" he said, sucking in a cold breath of air as he stared at the almost five-meter tall being in front of him.
"Valyr," the being replied, her tone carrying the immense weight of authority. "Should I call you Ataraxia's other self or Ataraxia's original body?"
"His other self," the young man answered as he spent a bit of time to compose himself. "At your level, I'm sure you could see that he's not my clone in any way."
"That he is not." Arcane faintly nodded. "In any case, I'm sure you understand why I've come here, right?"
Valyr nodded.
"I've attempted to transform the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture into something that could be applied to Shadow Energy."
"You have." The former nodded once more. "In fact, you've converted the scripture over so well that it has attracted my attention."
"Though there are some parts to your conversion that are still rough around the edges, forming a scripture for Shadow Energy that would allow it to transform into Void Energy shouldn't pose a problem."
"…Eh?"
Listening to her words, Valyr could not help but be briefly speechless.
After all, once he realized that his Shadow Energy was trying to form a resonance with the plane where Arcane was located, he thought that he had messed up and invoked Arcane's wrath.
Yet, from her words, it seemed like it was actually the opposite?
"You're… not mad?" Although her words made him understand that she wasn't mad at him, the young man still decided to ask her for confirmation.
"Why would I be?" Arcane gave off the feeling that she was raising her eyebrow at him. "The fact that you've converted the 81 Phases Mana Reformation Scripture to fit another type of energy deserves praise, not punishment."
"Plus, what you're doing so far is basically fulfilling Her final wish."
