The mist moved upward and entered the floating organ.

More bodies followed.

The survivors struck the barrier, attacked Andrew, and tried to protect one another. None of it changed the result.

Every person who died became more power for the formation, and the growing formation pulled even faster from those who remained.

An old man held an injured boy against his chest. He used the last of his qi to protect the boy, but the red lines passed through his protection.

The old man’s body turned into mist first. The boy fell to the ground.

He looked at Andrew in terror before his body followed.

It did not take long for the screaming to stop.

Blood mist filled the barrier. No bodies remained inside.

Andrew watched the mist circle the organ. The red flesh absorbed most of it, while the rest flowed through the lines beneath the service yard.

The barrier began shrinking. It pressed the blood mist closer to the organ until the entire formation was only large enough to surround the piece of flesh.

The organ had grown.

Its veins now covered most of its surface, and several thin openings had appeared between them.

Green smoke came out through those openings.

The smoke carried a rotten smell that spread beyond the smaller barrier.

Andrew stepped away from it. The smoke was useful to him, but it would become a huge problem if he touched it.

The green smoke continued filling the barrier. It became so thick that the organ could no longer be seen from outside.

Andrew watched the formation lines around it.

This part of his preparation was complete. He reached into his storage ring again.

A metal emblem appeared between his fingers.

The emblem belonged to Proxima’s city hall. It was only given to important officials on high-grade Human Empire planets, and its purpose was simple.

If a disaster exceeded the planet’s ability to respond, breaking the emblem would send an emergency request through the Empire.

The strength of the request depended on the emblem.

This one carried a Tier-One emergency signal.

Andrew had taken it from the city hall office before entering the buried city. The officials who owned it believed it was still protected inside their storage room.

They would not discover that it was missing until it was too late.

Andrew held the emblem near the barrier. He wanted the signal to come from the same area as the organ.

When the Human Empire responders arrived, this service yard would be one of the first places they investigated.

His fingers tightened.

CRACK!

The emblem broke in half.

A pillar of white light rose from the broken metal.

The light passed through the damaged sky above Proxima and disappeared.

The emergency request had been sent.

Far from the planet, Earth received the signal.

Warning symbols appeared across the control rooms.

The message carried Proxima’s location, its planetary grade, and its Tier-One danger level. It did not explain what had happened because the emblem had been broken without a prior report.

That made the situation more serious.

It meant the government there had already been incapacitated to the point that it could not send out any information.

Orders moved through the nearby Human Empire forces.

Warships changed direction. Cultivators who had been waiting for other missions were ordered toward Proxima.

Some came from military posts, while others came from forces responsible for protecting nearby Human worlds.

The emergency signal continued spreading.

More ships received the same order.

Inside one of the military stations, officers stopped every ordinary task as soon as the warning appeared.

They checked the signal several times.

It belonged to Proxima’s government, and the request carried the highest emergency grade available to that planet. The station could not ignore it while waiting for someone on Proxima to explain.

The officers sent orders to every ship ready to move.

"Move out! This could become a major war!"

Weapons were loaded. Protective formations were activated.

The cultivators joining the response felt excited. They had been on standby for a long time and had only taken part in occasional small fights.

A major war was something many of them looked forward to.

As cultivators and soldiers, they were eager to prove themselves. A major war meant casualties, but it also meant opportunities.

Some of the cultivators had already heard reports about the strange pandemic that had appeared across the planet some time ago.

They had also received many anonymous tips about the planet.

The reports ranged from simple corruption to sightings of vampires.

Since these were considered local problems, most of them had been ignored.

Now those separate reports appeared to be connected.

The first commanders assumed that a powerful vampire had gathered enough forces to attack the planet.

This situation was exactly what Andrew had expected.

Even those anonymous tips had been planted by him.

He had created a desperate situation where the Empire would have no time to investigate before sending its forces.

On Proxima, Andrew closed his hand around the broken emblem.

The white light had disappeared.

He opened his All-Seeing Eyes.

The marks inside his pupils began spinning.

One mark followed another until they formed an infinity symbol.

His vision moved beyond the planet.

He saw everything that was happening.

He saw how many forces had been sent, where they came from, and how long they would take to arrive.

Normally, they would have been able to teleport directly to the planet, but Andrew had already prepared countermeasures against that.

Even without teleportation, the first force would not take long to arrive.

Others would follow after them.

Andrew smiled.

"Now they will be busy."

The Human Empire soldiers would arrive ready to fight. They would find vampires on the surface and a Progenitor battle beneath it.

Andrew turned his gaze toward the ground.

He could feel the power moving beneath the city, but he did not try to enter the buried area again.

Alex and Mingyue were already down there with the new artificial Progenitor.

If one side killed the others too quickly, it would be disastrous for him.

That was why he had prepared the organ.

The green smoke inside the barrier became thicker.

The organ continued changing as it absorbed the blood and qi left by the dead civilians.

The formation was doing what he expected.

The service yard shook again.

A damaged warehouse wall collapsed outside the barrier.

Andrew did not look at it.

He focused on the distant response instead.

His vision passed over all the warships and cultivators moving across Human Empire territory.

Andrew took one last look at the organ and smiled.

"Let’s not waste any more time."

Andrew raised his hand and tore open a dark portal.

Space twisted in front of him.

He stepped toward it, then stopped.

The infinity marks spun faster.

He could see that the final guest coming to the planet was already on the way and moving faster than he had expected.

Andrew let out a quiet laugh.

"This is even better."

He stepped into the portal.

The dark opening closed behind him.
