Modern Family: The Singer
Chapter 121: Video Games and Talks
[3rd POV]
The video game session had taken some time, and had all together, been pretty damn fun. It had been mostly spent on Halo, since Luke loved the game and deemed it as the best game he had ever played.
Billie personally preferred some other games, but he could absolutely see the appeal of Halo and why people loved it so much. She just personally was a huge Skyrim addict, as well as Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
She had thousands of hours in Skyrim at this point. The only game that came close was Minecraft. With the latter likely to surpass it once more mods started to release and the game started to get really really fun.
She also had hundreds of hours in various pokemon games, but they really don't compare to the other two. As that was across several games. She had completed the Pokédex on pretty much every single one so far, with only the most recent games not being complete just yet.
She planned on finishing that up within the next couple of months.
'I should introduce Haley to Pokemon' Billie thought, realizing that she had a ton of cards at home that she had never shown her before, as well as tons of packs that she hadn't opened yet that she was sure she could have fun opening with her girlfriend.
She had some of the rarest cards in the world at this point, as she knew just how ridiculously expensive they would get in like 10 years. So she had already collected cars like the Pikachu illustrator, that would be worth millions in the future, and pretty much anything else that would be worth way too much in the future to be worth waiting for.
"Man...you play a lot of video games don't you?" Luke asked, as he realized that he had once again been utterly crushed by her, as she had carried their team to a win and had double the kills as second place.
"Mmhmm. I don't really play first person shooters that often, but I like to think I'm pretty good at them" Billie replied with a nod, knowing that she had more hours in her games than he did. Mostly because thanks to the way her work was, she had a shit ton of free time. Singing was not hard, and did not take up a lot of time.
It was the concerts, brand deals, talk shows, interviews, and all that shit that made it really complicated and took a ton of time. But those were only once every once in a while and still nothing compared to the difficulty of an actual job.
She would never, in a million years, think that they were at all comparable. She knew she was blessed, and very very lucky to be in her situation.
There was a reason why she donated to a ton of different charities over the years, including ones that helped those out of work or who could not work. It was because those people, a large majority of the time, were out of work because they simply did not have the ability to get work.
Of course there were some of those that were just plain lazy. Thankfully she was smart and made sure to know what she was donating to and that it would not be wasted on someone who did not want to change. As helping someone or donating to them only changed things when they themselves wanted to change things.
That was the hard part. Getting them to want to change themselves.
And that was not something Billie herself could do.
"You're this good and you don't care about games like this? How the crap!" Luke yelled, as she laughed.
"I play a lot more video games than you do, Luke. My job as a singer makes it so that I have a ton of time on my hands, and most of that time is spent either working on new music, hanging out with Haley, doing stuff with my other hobbies, or most commonly, gaming" Billie responded, as if she was not watching a show, doing stuff involving her other hobbies (Watch collecting, Pokemon collecting, American Football), then she was almost certainly gaming on her Xbox or PC.
"...That's so unfair" Luke grumbled, understanding what she meant. She didn't need to go to school, she didn't do a nine to five job, she didn't need to worry about money thanks to how much she made. Basically, she had none of the usual concerns, hence the amount of time she always had.
"I'm lucky, Luke. You are too. Most people don't have the time to do this sort of thing once they are older, as they have jobs and other stuff to deal with. I'm sure once you get older you'll realize that even more. But hey, if you truly find yourselves loving the musical space, then you might be in a similar boat to me around that time" Billie replied, confirming that it was indeed unfair.
But that was kind of just life.
"...They're taking forever, aren't they?" Luke asked, glancing at the clock and realizing that they had been gone for like several hours at this point. His dad was close to being done at work, and that meant he would be home before they were.
"Yes, yes they are. But I'm sure that's your mom and Haley doing that. They're shopping for clothes and other stuff and clothes shopping takes...forever" Billie responded to the younger boy, agreeing that they were taking forever.
She had no idea what they were doing over at the mall or whatever. But it was definitely taking a lot longer than they had told her and Luke it would.
Thankfully she actually liked Luke, and playing video games with him was actually fun, so she was not going to complain about watching him until they got back.
"So Alex is probably suffering even more than we are" Luke replied, realizing that Alex was likely hating her life at this point.
"Most likely" Billie nodded, before continuing "Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she strangles one of them for this, since I highly doubt they told her how long they would actually be there for"
Luke just sighed and leaned back, before starting another game, realizing that they probably wouldn't be getting home for even longer than he had been expecting.
Billie didn't blame him, because she was also pretty sure that this was the plan even in the beginning, and Claire just hadn't told her so she wouldn't say no to them. She had hoped that at least they'd be home in another hour or two, or else things will start to really become an issue.
So, Billie leaned back into the couch and began to play once more, all the while she had only one thought on her mind.
'What the hell are you guys doing over there?'
