Chapter 137: Start of a Dinner

[3rd POV]

Pulling into Jay’s driveway for what felt like the fiftieth time this money, Billie turned the car off and got out. She was pretty sure that she had gone off to this place almost fifty times. All because Gloria tends to be very demanding about visiting their home whenever they possibly get the chance to, even if it is over something stupid and small.

Probably because Gloria does not really get visits from her own family, mostly because of how far away they live. So, she uses every chance she can to get Jay’s side of the family to visit their home. This was part of the reason why most of the parties and events happened at their house.

That and their house was way bigger than Claire’s or Mitchell’s. By like…more than double. You could combine both of their houses and it would still not be as big as Jay’s home. The only person in the family that was going to have a bigger house, was of course Billie’s and Haley’s new home.

Walking up to the front door, Billie did not even need to knock before the door was pulled open by a smiling Phil. Who looked to be very happy to see them their.

“Girls! You’re here!” Phil cheerfully said, as he leaned forward and gave each of them a short hug. It had not been too long since they last saw each other, but the man was always a big hugger.

It was kind of his thing.

“Well yeah, we weren’t going to miss the celebration for you selling the house dad. It’s pretty big deal for you, so we wouldn’t miss it for the world” Haley replied with a small smile on her face, knowing that her dad was in a really really good mood.

He always was kind of in a good mood, but today in particular he was in a better one. As the commission he got was pretty massive thanks to the house itself being a very expensive one.

As in, low million sort of figures to more than two million. The house was a genuine beauty, and was basically a big ass mansion. Which in California was always expensive as shit. They actually got it for a steal, considering how expensive it would get over the course of the next ten years or so.

And thanks to that, Phil was likely to make tens of thousands of dollars, since he makes around 3 percent in commission. Basically, he was going to make a ton of money off of it, which is why it was always a celebration.

He might not look it, but Phil was easily the second wealthiest person in the entire family besides Jay. At least, if you don’t count Billie who was kind of just unfair to compare against.

His commissions simply made that much. But that was kind of the case with most people with his job. Pretty much any major person made that much, but at the very least they tended to get six figures. It was a very lucrative job.

“I’m glad to hear that honey! Now c’mon in” Phil said with a bright smile on his face, finding what Haley had just said to him to be heartwarming.

Walking into Jay’s home, Billie instantly noticed a few things. For one, the entire family was there. With Mitchell and Cam being close to one another, whispering between each other about who knows what.

Gloria and Claire were talking, about who knows what. As Billie wasn’t sure if Claire had found out about Manny yet. She highly doubted it though, considering what she would do Manny if she finds out the way he had been acting towards Haley, and how he had attempted to touch her inappropriately against her will. If anything Billie was surprised that Claire had not found out sooner.

At the same time Jay was over in the living room, playing something with Luke.

Manny was nowhere in sight, having likely been punted off to somewhere else to not ruin the party with how insanely awkward it would have been. That, and Jay was likely smart enough to know that Billie would not want him anywhere near Haley, not after trying to touch her.

That, and Jay was probably not confident in keeping it a secret from Claire. And if Claire was to find out about the fact that it happened?

Yeah, there was a very good chance that Manny would not be having a fun time. Because if Claire didn’t do something about it, Phil would. The man was protective of his family, even if he did not show his super crazy protective side.

And if he didn’t, then Billie was pretty confident that Alex would straight up fight the kid.

Speaking of, Alex was off sitting at the dinner table, reading a book calmly, probably waiting for dinner to start, whenever that was going to be. The dinner itself, according to Gloria when she called, was going to be a big one.

And it would have all of Phil’s favorites. Not because he could not choose just a couple of foods for them to make, but because most of his foods were minor things that Gloria or Claire could easily make. And honestly most of them were barely classifiable as a food you would eat at dinner or lunch.

“So, how good was the commission?” Billie asked. As Phil had gotten a commission before, but he never really explained how they worked, nor how much she made off of them.

“Really good! One of the best I’ve had in a long while! It had been a little…annoying to deal with them, but they decided eventually so it wasn’t too much of a hassle” Phil replied with a bright smile on his face as usual. The couple that had bought the house were actually friends of Cam and Mitchell, and were gay.

But they had debated back and forth quite a lot about certain things they wanted. Thanks to Phil using some of his tricky real estate tricks, the two of them had eventually made their decision, only because they thought their “Competition” was ahead, and in their minds that would not do. They wanted no one else to have the house before them, so they bought it at their first chance after hearing that.

Phil was really damn good at his job.

Billie found it kind of funny that it worked, but she also found it to be equally as impressive. The man was really damn smart when he wanted to be.

Walking into the other main room, Billie decided to join Alex at the table, waiting to see what was about to go down, and whether or not things would follow canon or not.

She kind of hoped so.

Because it would be hilarious if it did.
