Hearing this, Nathaniel Sloan chuckled softly. "Then perhaps Ms. Lowell’s health won’t be so great after all."

Estelle Lockwood raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what does Mr. Sloan have in mind?"

Nathaniel nodded. "I’ll have Zane Grant come with me. Don’t worry, he’s a doctor. It won’t kill her."

Estelle’s brow quirked up, a meaningful smile playing in her eyes. "Alright, I hope you won’t disappoint me, Mr. Sloan."

Nathaniel caught the underlying meaning in her words, his lips twitching slightly.

He would never disappoint her again.

At the Sloan family’s home.

Liam Sloan walked through the door. Just as the butler joyfully announced the second young master’s return, Laura Jennings appeared with a deep frown. "You’ve been back in the country for days and didn’t even think to come home! Do you even have any respect left for your mother?"

Liam casually grabbed an apple, lounging about carelessly. "I’ve been busy, haven’t I?"

"I don’t even know what you’re busy with all day!" Laura snapped angrily.

Liam cast a light glance at her, cutting straight to the point. "Mom, your son is a lawyer. You should know that helping someone forge evidence is a crime, right?"

Laura’s expression stiffened. Then, she planted her hands on her hips, demanding fiercely, "What do you mean by that?"

Liam looked at her. "Recently, a lawyer got fired for committing a crime. That Mr. Miller seems to have been a lawyer in your legal department five years ago, Mom."

Hearing the mention of five years ago, Laura’s face grew rigid. "I don’t know what you’re talking about!"

Liam offered a kind reminder. "Estelle’s death anniversary is coming up, you know? I suggest you stay out of it."

"What do you mean? Are you trying to lecture me?!" Laura instantly flew into a rage. "Estelle Lockwood is not your sister-in-law! Your sister-in-law is Noelle!"

Why couldn’t she get involved? She was going to do exactly that!

After all, she knew exactly what the Lockwood family was planning to do that day. She wanted to see Estelle roll in her grave!

Liam curled his lips. You really couldn’t save someone hell-bent on destruction. Maybe he needed to find a doctor to examine his mother’s brain.

No, his father’s brain needed checking too.

While outsiders didn’t know the inside story, Liam was perfectly aware of it. His mother was the mistress who had usurped the wife’s position. His father’s original wife had died young. When the first wife was pregnant, a similarly pregnant Laura had shown up at their door to cause a scene. She had been so outrageously arrogant that she had quite literally angered the first wife to death right after she gave birth.

Strangely enough, Laura had told Ethan Sloan that the child born to the first wife had gone missing and that Laura’s child was Nathaniel Sloan. Having secured her position through her child, she should have doted on Nathaniel.

In reality, before Nathaniel took power, Laura hadn’t even treated him like a human being.

Liam shook his head. Forget it. Why was he thinking so much about this? His mother had twisted morals and a sick brain anyway. How could he possibly use a normal person’s logic to fathom her mind?

On the day of the death anniversary.

The fire from five years ago had caused a massive uproar. Even the hospital director had posted about it on the hospital’s official social media account.

The gist of the message was that, although they were doctors, the news of Estelle passing away because she couldn’t handle the pressure was still deeply sorrowful.

However, that massive fire had brought tremendous losses to the hospital. Many pregnant women had been forced to temporarily relocate because the delivery rooms were burned down, nearly resulting in a catastrophic tragedy.

The hospital hoped such incidents would be minimized in the future and urged everyone to take it as a cautionary tale.

The words sounded diplomatic enough, but they successfully pushed Estelle back into the forefront of public backlash!

The Lockwood family promised to issue a public apology on the anniversary of her death, acknowledging the "various crimes" Estelle had committed. As a result, an exceptionally large crowd gathered to watch the event.

Sitting in a car not far away, Estelle watched Noelle’s hypocritical expression, her eyes darkening.

It was a good thing she was still alive. If she had actually died, right and wrong would have been entirely at the mercy of the Lockwood family’s smears and distortions. Whatever the Lockwoods said would be treated as truth! She was clearly the victim, yet she was supposed to take the fall for Noelle, the real murderer!

She was meant to be spat upon by thousands, unable to find peace even in death, while Noelle continued being a major celebrity and a wealthy heiress, taking over her son, her husband, and her family.

As if she would let her get away with that!

Estelle rested her fingertips against the car window. Catching sight of Henry Kendrick, she gave him a hand signal.

Henry gave a subtle nod.

Soon, the reporters were in position.

Austin Lockwood, Rose Lowell, Noelle, and Laura were all present.

Once the live stream began, Noelle bowed deeply to the cameras.

True to her profession as an actress, her tears came on command. Her eyes turned red, making her look incredibly pitiful and delicate.

"I am so sorry for taking up everyone’s time. Today marks the fifth anniversary of my sister’s passing.

"I want to use this opportunity to apologize to all of you. To the hospital from back then, the doctors, the nurses, and the affected pregnant mothers and their families—I am truly sorry."

With that, Noelle bowed three more times in different directions, looking like the picture of absolute sincerity.

Offstage, beside the reporters, a woman’s eyes reddened with tears. She was one of the expectant mothers affected by the fire back then. Because the delivery room had caught fire, she had to be temporarily moved elsewhere, delaying her delivery and nearly causing her to lose her child. As a result, she harbored a particularly intense hatred for Estelle.

If we had known, it would have been better to never bring her back in the first place! She clearly picked up bad habits while living out there!"

Noelle smiled weakly.

In the audience, some people were filled with righteous indignation, while others were curious. "Werent all the pieces of evidence destroyed in the fire back then? How can you be so sure that Estelle was the arsonist?"

Noelle shook her head helplessly and let out a sigh. "We didn’t want to believe that my sister was that kind of person either... but she left behind a suicide note."

Rose Lowell chimed in, "Estelle was my daughter, a piece of my own flesh and blood. If the evidence wasn’t irrefutable, how could I, as her mother, pin such a crime on her? It’s truly because of that suicide note... Oh, I can’t bear to look at it!"

Austin took the microphone. "Shortly, we will make Estelle’s suicide note public. However, the deceased has already passed, so we hope everyone will show some mercy with their words."

Estelle rested her chin on one hand.

Everyone claimed that letting Noelle marry Nathaniel was because of her "suicide note," and handing the Lockwood family over to Noelle was also because of this "suicide note."
