Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It
Chapter 344: Nathaniel Sloan: Chairman Ford Knows What to Do
Chapter 344: Chapter 344: Nathaniel Sloan: Chairman Ford Knows What to Do
But how could that be possible...?
What was the Ford Family anyway? How could they even catch Nathaniel Sloan’s eye? Why would Mr. Sloan bother dealing with them?
Even if Mr. Sloan found the Ford Family an eyesore, he could bankrupt them entirely with a mere wave of his hand. Why keep them hanging by a thread, as if he were just toying with them?
Chairman Ford had no idea how he had offended Mr. Sloan, but he didn’t dare delay. He scrambled frantically to find Luke White.
Even now, slumped weakly in the study of Imperial Crest, his mind was still a complete blank.
A short while later, he finally heard a faint voice from above him. "Chairman Ford wishes to plead for the Ford Family?"
"Yes, yes..." Chairman Ford’s scalp prickled. Trembling, he spoke at lightning speed, terrified that Mr. Sloan would lose his patience. "Yes, exactly! Mr. Sloan, although the company isn’t large in scale, it’s the lifeblood of both my father and me! If... if there’s anywhere we have offended you, I beg you to be magnanimous and spare us!"
"Heh."
A light chuckle drifted over.
Nathaniel said calmly, "You didn’t offend me."
Chairman Ford was dumbfounded.
"Or rather," Nathaniel curled his lips into a faint smile, "the one who offended me wasn’t you, Chairman Ford."
Chairman Ford’s mind raced, and he instantly thought of a specific person. His face drained of color. "My son... my son is young and ignorant..."
"Young Mr. Ford is the same age as our boss. He’s not young anymore."
Luke stepped forward with a smile. "Chairman Ford, you probably still don’t know what happened in the restaurant under your name, do you? A waiter poisoned someone, and the surveillance cameras just happened to be broken. The waiter, who had no prior grievances with our Madam, insisted that he acted entirely alone.
"But how could things be so coincidental? The only person the waiter met beforehand was Young Mr. Ford. Alas, Young Mr. Ford claimed that this matter had nothing to do with him..."
Chairman Ford understood now!
It really was that idiot son of his causing trouble!
How could Chairman Ford fail to grasp Luke’s meaning? Besides, with the waiter administering poison, was Vincent Ford truly unaware? Even Chairman Ford himself thought that was impossible!
"Then... then Mr. Sloan, you..."
"It’s like this." There was no need for Nathaniel to answer such trivial matters; Luke helpfully proposed, "It’s not impossible if you want the company restored to its original state. However, no matter what, Young Mr. Ford has offended our boss, and he really doesn’t want to see him again.
"And since the Ford Family is famous for its restaurant business, this poisoning incident could be blown up into something major or kept quiet. Our boss also sympathizes with your business and doesn’t want to see your hard work go to waste. But this matter can’t just be swept under the rug, either.
"Perhaps you could make a choice, Chairman Ford?"
Luke smiled and added, "If you lose a son, you can always have another. You and your wife are still young. But if the company is gone, it’s gone for good."
"I..." Chairman Ford understood exactly what Luke meant, his whole body trembling. "My wife dotes on our son..."
"It’s not our place to meddle in your family affairs, Chairman Ford. However, Madam was nearly harmed. If she had drunk that poisoned coffee, do you really think you’d still be standing here talking to me?
"You should cut the Gordian knot now while our boss and Madam are still in a good mood, shouldn’t you?"
Chairman Ford immediately shuddered, no longer daring to bargain. "I—I’ll kick that unfilial son out of Crestfall at once!"
"That won’t be necessary." Luke’s lips curled. "You can ask him who put him up to this. If he refuses to say, then you absolutely must not show any mercy. After all, if Young Mr. Ford can cause this much trouble now, who knows what he might do in the future?
"Our boss doesn’t ask for much. Since he dared to poison someone, why not let him taste the poison himself? Of course, he doesn’t have to ingest it. The waiter said that splashing the poison on one’s face will only cause disfigurement. Do you understand, Chairman Ford?"
Chairman Ford went limp all over and slumped to the floor.
Thank goodness. Thank goodness.
He had thought Mr. Sloan wanted his son’s arms or head. It had scared him half to death.
Disfigurement... it was just disfigurement. He could just choose another heir. At least his son would still be alive with all his limbs intact!
"I understand... I understand..."
The butler was about to lead Chairman Ford away when Luke suddenly spoke again.
"Oh, right. There’s one thing I forgot to remind you of just now, Chairman Ford.
"Also present that day was Miss Claire Yeats. I’m sure you’ve heard some things about the Yeats Family’s affairs. I just wonder what Miss Yeats said to your esteemed son to make him so furious and agitated."
Luke smiled. "Perhaps you could ask a few more questions, Chairman Ford."
Chairman Ford felt a buzzing in his head.
He had just been wondering why his son would target Estelle Lockwood for no reason!
Now he understood. It was actually for Claire Yeats! That Claire had been stringing his son along since they were in high school; did she think he couldn’t see through it?
To offend Estelle Lockwood and Nathaniel Sloan for a woman like Claire, and even use poison!
Upon returning to the Ford family home, Chairman Ford saw Vincent hastily packing his things. "What are you doing?" he asked coldly.
Vincent stiffened all over. "Dad, I..."
"You did something so huge, offended such an important figure, and you think you can just abandon the Ford Family and run away? Lock the doors!"
At Chairman Ford’s command, the bodyguards immediately locked the doors. A hint of ruthless determination appeared in Chairman Ford’s eyes.
"Son, in all the years you’ve grown up, I believe I have never done you wrong as a father. Mr. Sloan wanted me to ask you some questions, but I don’t even need to ask. Others might not know about your relationship with Claire Yeats, but I see it clear as day.
"For her, for a woman, you were willing to disregard the entire family and doom us all to death! Fine. Fine! I’ll grant your wish!"
Vincent’s face turned deathly pale, and he instantly understood what Nathaniel’s message meant.
So that was it. So that was it!
Chairman Ford looked at him with bitter disappointment. "How could you be so foolish?! That’s Nathaniel Sloan! Women, women, your head is full of nothing but women! If I handed the Ford Family over to you, you’d squander it all anyway!"
Vincent was still arguing. "It has nothing to do with Claire. Claire never said..."
Chairman Ford truly felt that his son was too stupid to live. His gaze turned to pity, the father-son affection in his eyes slowly fading away.
"Use your brain and think carefully about what she actually said and whether she hinted at you to do anything.
"Yes, she only gave ’hints’ and never explicitly told you to target Estelle Lockwood. But if she hadn’t brought it up and guided you, would you have poisoned Estelle?
"You’ve been played by Claire Yeats from start to finish! If you don’t believe me, ask her to come out and meet you right now. Let’s see what she says. She’s absolutely certain you’d take the fall for her! You idiot!
"Son, don’t blame me."
Even though Claire wanted to keep the Ford Family’s incident a secret, it was still found out by quite a few people.
Not to mention that after Vincent was disfigured, he locked himself in his room for three whole days before finally figuring it all out.
"Haha, hahahaha... Claire Yeats, so this was your plan..."
Claire was anxious, terrified that Old Mr. Yeats would suspect her. She was just about to go to the Yeats family home to explain herself when she received a phone call.
It was a cold, female voice processed through a voice changer. "I’ve already smoothed things over for you on the Yeats Family’s end. There’s no need to panic.
"Have you met that Mrs. Kendrick?"
