Chapter 395: Chapter 395: Confrontation

The faces of everyone at the Branch of Yeats Group drained of color.

Only Old Mrs. Yeats, Evan Yeats, and a few shareholders in the know exchanged glances, remaining silent.

Claire Yeats bit her lip, seemingly hesitant, but she still stood in front of Estelle Lockwood, playing the role of the perfect older sister to the hilt.

"Even if you sound completely convincing, and even if Estelle can’t prove the Green Jade Token is real, you can’t prove the White Jade Token is real either. Besides, Estelle is the person in charge appointed by Mr. Lynch. Who are you?"

The man gave a contemptuous smile. "I have no way to prove it, but what good does it do me to slander Miss Estelle? I’m just kindly reminding the Yeats Family. I’m not forcing you to believe me. Believe it or not, it’s up to you.

"But what I will say is this: When Mr. Lynch established the charity foundation thirty years ago, he took the lead by donating a piece of cream-white jade. That jade fetched an astronomical price at auction, making both the foundation and Mr. Lynch famous overnight.

"Under these circumstances, it’s obviously more logical for Mr. Lynch to carve his jade token from white jade rather than green jade. Of course, as I said, I don’t have evidence to prove it. After all, you could just say I intentionally forged the photos on my phone. So, I’ve said my piece. Whether you listen or not is your business!"

This man really seemed to expect nothing in return, only offering a kind reminder because he couldn’t stand watching this unfold. However, his words caused the crowd to nod, their belief in his claims growing.

It made sense. Even though they didn’t know the relationship between the current young Mr. Lynch and the Mr. Lynch from thirty years ago, Aethel and the charity foundation’s rise to fame were tied to that piece of cream-white jade. Cream-white jade held a special bond for Mr. Lynch. Looking at it this way... it was indeed far more likely that Mr. Lynch would choose a White Jade Token.

"That can’t be!" Claire shook her head helplessly. "If the White Jade Token is the real one, where did Estelle’s Green Jade Token come from? And where is the real White Jade Token?"

The man scoffed. "If you don’t know, how should I? Miss Yeats, rather than worrying about it here, why don’t you ask Estelle Lockwood how much that White Jade Token was worth?"

At this, the entire venue was shocked! What the man implied was... Estelle had sold the jade token? And this man had seen it happen?

That would explain it. Otherwise, why would he expose her so mercilessly in public, without sparing her an ounce of dignity? He probably thought Estelle was just too foolish and couldn’t bear to stay quiet any longer. But they had to admit... Estelle was indeed incredibly stupid! That was Aethel, the esteemed Mr. Lynch. She had actually sold Mr. Lynch’s token for a bit of money. Did she even consider the consequences of offending Aethel? It was a perfectly good partnership where she originally held all the advantages, yet she had done something so idiotic!

"Estelle is way too bold... She’s just throwing her weight around because she’s the person in charge. Mr. Lynch left Crestfall, and Aethel gave her full authority. Meanwhile, nobody on the Yeats Group’s side has ever seen the jade token, which is why she dared to be so brazen..."

"Does Old Mr. Yeats have no objections to this?"

"The Yeats Family doesn’t know what happened. Old Mr. Yeats and Young Mr. Yeats left secretly a few days ago. Don’t you guys know? Something about an item from twenty years ago... Ugh, I can’t really explain it clearly."

"Even if Old Mr. Yeats knew, he wouldn’t tolerate Estelle acting so recklessly!"

Estelle raised an eyebrow. Old Mr. Yeats had left Andertown? No news of this had leaked out at all.

"Sigh, the Branch of Yeats Group is in for a miserable time now. Offending Mr. Lynch for money is truly foolish."

"I think Estelle is just a Jinx. If the Branch of Yeats Group wants this partnership, they need to kick her out as soon as possible."

Old Mrs. Yeats secretly broke into a smile, confident that Estelle was completely doomed this time. However, she had to conceal her amusement and put on a furious expression. "Estelle! Tell me, where did you sell the real White Jade Token?!"

The venue instantly fell silent. Old Mrs. Yeats’s face was contorted with rage, yet the corners of her mouth curled up in a bizarre arc, like an evil spirit waiting for its prey to walk into a trap. "Speak! Where is the White Jade Token?! Are you trying to get our Yeats Family killed?!"

"What does a couple of sentences from that man prove?!" Mrs. Yeats, who had just entered the venue, turned pale at the sight. She hurriedly ran over and shielded Estelle behind her. "Mom, the most important thing right now is the signing ceremony!"

Old Mrs. Yeats furrowed her brow, never expecting that Melody Jenson would stand up for Estelle at such a critical moment. She curled her lip disdainfully. "He already laid it all out, how could it be fake? I think Estelle is just itching for the Yeats Family’s downfall. Whose daughter-in-law are you, anyway? Get out of my way!"

Mrs. Yeats was frantic with worry. Estelle, however, simply smiled. The Yeats Family was indeed quite stupid, especially Old Mrs. Yeats. If Aethel had genuinely intended to partner with the Yeats Group, the old lady’s tantrum would have practically ruined it anyway.

Claire looked anxious and seemed deeply conflicted. "Mrs. Yeats, you... Grandma, please don’t be so angry. I don’t think Estelle is that kind of person. Perhaps Mr. Lynch has several jade tokens to begin with? Estelle, just tell the truth. Grandma is willing to give you another chance."

Claire thought Estelle was oblivious to the trap she had set, but in reality, Estelle saw right through it. Naturally, she also knew that Claire’s words were a pit waiting for her to jump into.

Old Mrs. Yeats scoffed coldly. "Claire! You’re far too kind. Even now, you’re still trying to find a way to make excuses for Estelle, but you have to see if she even appreciates your favor! Don’t let your kindness be thrown back in your face!

"For your own selfish gains, you disregarded the entire Branch of Yeats Group! So many of us have been working tirelessly on this partnership for half a month, and because of your selfishness, you’ve made everyone’s efforts go to waste!

"I truly don’t understand why the old man values you so much. What’s so good about you? How can you even compare to Claire? Claire has been running around cleaning up your messes, and what can you do?!"

Old Mrs. Yeats’s vision blurred. The Estelle standing before her seemed to overlap with the Eleanor Yeats in her memories, making her wish she could tear the girl limb from limb. Even though she had known all along whose hands the jade token was in, and even though she was just putting on an act, a profound resentment burst forth from her.

"Hand over the jade token! Otherwise, don’t blame me for being ruthless!"

If it weren’t for the inappropriate setting, Estelle would have genuinely applauded Old Mrs. Yeats. Human potential truly was limitless. It was astonishing that Old Mrs. Yeats could unleash such incredible acting skills.

Old Mrs. Yeats’s intention was nothing more than to degrade her first. Then, Claire would bring out the "real" jade token, logically securing the partnership for herself while showcasing her own excellence. However... their plan had a fatal flaw in the most crucial step. And that was... Claire was the one holding the fake jade token. When the time came, how would the Branch of Yeats Group and Old Mrs. Yeats clean up their own mess?

Estelle dropped her smile. Her tone was slow but sufficiently solemn, ensuring everyone present heard her loud and clear.

"Old Mrs. Yeats, I’ve already told you. This is the real jade token."ℯℯ𝑙.
