Mommy, Daddy Has Already Regretted It

Chapter 411: Chapter 411: Thea York Had Seen This Kind of Medicine Before
Nathaniel turned his head.
"Alright. Then I’ll have to trouble Mrs. Sloan to tell me your plan in detail."
The next day.
Thea York was deeply worried, terrified that the drug hadn’t taken effect. Before eleven in the morning, she arrived at Evernight International with a lunchbox in hand. But to her surprise, she was blocked at the very first step.
"On what grounds are you keeping me out?" Thea demanded, flushed with exasperation. "Do you know who I am? How dare you stop me!"
After the incident with Ethan Sloan, it was naturally impossible for the receptionists to just let anyone through.
"We are truly sorry, Miss York. Even if Chairman York were here, we would still have to announce his arrival.
"Besides, Mr. Sloan is currently in a meeting. Even if you are in a rush, we must trouble you to wait."
Thea was so angry she nearly tipped backward. She swept a contemptuous glare over the reception area. "What a joke. I need an announcement? Dare to stop me and just wait to be fired!"
Saying so, she tried to barge her way in.
Estelle Lockwood had just arrived downstairs and witnessed this exact scene.
The receptionist quickly stepped forward to politely block Thea, a professional smile still hanging on her lips. "Miss York, we are truly sorry. Right now, only guests who have an appointment with Mr. Sloan are allowed inside. May I ask if you have an appointment?"
"An appointment?!" Thea looked deeply dissatisfied. "I need an appointment? Step aside! If the lunch I prepared for Nathaniel gets cold, I’ll hold you responsible!"
The receptionist was speechless. Her smile was about to crack. Where did this lunatic come from?
Still, maintaining her professionalism, she continued to block the way. However, during the struggle, she accidentally brushed against Thea. Thea immediately blew up and shoved the receptionist hard.
"Who do you think you are, daring to touch me! I said I’m going up! Get out of my way!"
The receptionist repeated herself, "I apologize, but you really can’t. Mr. Sloan has stipulated that unless it is Mrs. Sloan, everyone else needs an appointment. Miss York, please do not make things difficult for us staff members."
Thea fumed with rage.
Right at this moment, Estelle walked in. Also carrying a lunchbox, she simply nodded to the receptionist and turned to press the elevator button.
Thea’s eyes darted around. "Estelle!"
Estelle looked back, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Miss York?"
Thea pursed her lips and shook her head slightly, putting on a look that said ’you’re so ignorant.’
"Estelle, Nathaniel is still in a meeting. Anyone going up needs an appointment or an announcement first. Do you... have an appointment?"
Estelle couldn’t hold back a scoff. Talk about applying what you just learned—Thea truly was a genius.
The receptionist clearly couldn’t handle the absurdity either. She looked apologetically at Estelle, only to see Estelle shake her head.
Estelle’s lips curled up. "Miss York, I’m truly sorry. Others may need an appointment, but I do not. Didn’t you hear what the receptionist just said? Mrs. Sloan never needs an appointment."
A flash of hatred crossed Thea’s eyes.
This honor should have originally belonged to her!
However, if that drug had already taken effect, then she was now the person Nathaniel loved the most. In his heart, she was the real Mrs. Sloan.
Thea utterly despised Estelle and couldn’t wait to knock her down a peg.
"Miss Lockwood, others might not know about the Sloan family’s affairs, but you should be well aware..." Thea let out a deliberately sorrowful sigh. "You say only Mrs. Sloan doesn’t need an appointment, but you of all people should know my true identity, shouldn’t you?"
Estelle narrowed her eyes. She knew Thea wanted to assert dominance and humiliate her. But in her impression, Thea shouldn’t be such an impulsive person.
Thea simply wanted to say that she, Thea York, was the real Mrs. Sloan, while Estelle was just an abandoned wife about to get divorced and kicked out of the Sloan family.
But the question from yesterday remained: who gave Thea this confidence? Was it that drug? But Thea hadn’t even seen Nathaniel, so how could she determine that the drug had already taken effect?
Unless...
Unless Thea had seen this drug in action before?! She knew exactly how long it took to work! Or rather, perhaps Thea believed the drug had already taken effect yesterday, but it hadn’t, which was why she made another trip today.
Estelle was testing Thea, and Thea was trying to test Nathaniel.
But now, it was obvious that Estelle had already sussed out a few key points: Thea knew the activation time, and she had likely seen the drug’s effects before. That was why she was so absolutely certain that Nathaniel had fallen in ’love’ with her.
That made things seem a bit terrifying...
For instance, where had Thea seen this drug before? Why did she know its effects? And who around her... had taken this drug?
Estelle realized she was overthinking. Halting her train of thought, she smiled and asked, "Hmm? What is your identity, Miss York? I’m afraid I’m not too clear on that."
Thea gritted her teeth in anger. Even now, Estelle was still putting up a stubborn fight! The outside world might not know her identity, but Estelle definitely did.
She was the future Mrs. Sloan!
A surge of fury suddenly welled up in Thea’s chest. Unable to control herself, she raised her voice. "Estelle, keeping this from everyone is pointless! Do I need to state my identity in front of all these people? I’m only keeping quiet to save face for you!"
The receptionist and several employees subtly glanced over.
Estelle raised an eyebrow. "Miss York, I said I don’t know, so I don’t know. Perhaps... you could tell me?"
"Fine! Fine! Have it your way then!"
Thea clenched her jaw. It was as if something was manipulating her brain, making her completely disregard the consequences of blurting this out. She only wanted to see Estelle’s sorrowful, furious, and utterly disbelieving expression.
Thus, Thea loudly announced, "I am Mrs. Sloan!"
Everyone was rendered speechless.
Even the receptionist had nothing to say.
The entire lobby descended into dead silence.
After quite a while, the employees of Evernight International began pulling out their phones to chat in their private group.
[Is she insane...]
[Looks like there’s something wrong with her head. Has she seen a neurologist?]
[At her age, even a neurologist couldn’t save her.]
The onlookers who hadn’t come downstairs immediately asked: [Who? Who? Who are you guys talking about?]
[TY, of course. Who else? She’s going crazy at the reception desk right now.]
[Who is TY? Stop talking in riddles.]
The group admin turned on anonymous mode for everyone. As soon as the anonymity was active, the gossip flooded in.
[It’s Thea York! She’s acting like a total psycho. First, she insisted on barging in. They told her she needed an appointment or had to wait for an announcement, and that she could only go up if Mr. Sloan agreed.]
[Then she started going crazy, asking if we knew her identity and if we wanted to lose our jobs for daring to stop her.]
[After that, Mrs. Sloan arrived. Thea wasn’t having it and questioned why Mrs. Sloan didn’t need an appointment to go straight to Mr. Sloan.]
[We explained it to her—it’s because she’s Mrs. Sloan! They’re a married couple! Besides, Mr. Sloan gave us orders that everyone except Mrs. Sloan needs an appointment. So, Mrs. Sloan is the only person who doesn’t need one. We don’t have brain damage, so why would we stop her?]
