Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Casually Slapping a Face

The man was full of lies.

And yet Old Mrs. Yeats had actually played along with him. Claiming it wasn’t intentional—who would believe that?

Old Mrs. Yeats’s face twisted into a scowl. "Don’t you—"

"But as for how I’m so sure someone deliberately framed me, I have Third Aunt Yeats to thank for that." Estelle Lockwood sighed. "She really doesn’t even know how to hide from people when doing bad deeds."

With that, she lightly tapped her phone. The crowd paused, and then a woman’s voice echoed from the device. The voice was very clear, though accompanied by the faint, distinct CRACKLE of an audio recording.

"I’ll give you fifty thousand. Remember, do exactly as I say!"

This voice... This voice belonged to...

Everyone turned to look at Third Aunt Yeats. That was right—Third Aunt Yeats had just spoken, and they all remembered it. That was unmistakably her voice!

"Hehe, I remember, I remember. Don’t worry, I promise to do exactly as you asked!"

"I’ll give you another fifty thousand when it’s done."

"Remember, insist that this bitch threw herself at you and that you’ve done everything together. Understand?!"

Estelle put her phone away.

The entire venue fell into a dead silence as the guests exchanged looks. Third Aunt Yeats’s expression turned incredibly ugly.

"This... Estelle is right! Someone really did set her up on purpose!"

"That’s Third Mrs. Yeats’s voice! I couldn’t have misheard. I was just standing right next to her, so I definitely recognize her voice!"

"My God! Isn’t Estelle the legitimate Miss Yeats? Is this how they treat their own family?"

"Third Mr. Yeats barely has any blood relation to the Yeats family anymore! So what kind of Miss Yeats is Claire anyway? To think that she’d actually let her own biological mother frame the real Miss Yeats out of jealousy... Have they no shame?"

"But Claire isn’t in this recording."

"Are you stupid? How could Claire expose herself so easily? She definitely handed this matter over for her mother to handle."

"There’s something wrong with Old Mrs. Yeats too, right? To ruin her own biological granddaughter for the sake of Claire, who isn’t even closely related by blood?"

Third Aunt Yeats shook her head frantically, a look of pure terror on her face, while the murmurs of the crowd continued. ℯℯ𝘭.

"I really don’t understand what Old Mrs. Yeats is thinking. Old Mr. Yeats already announced Estelle’s identity, and Young Mr. Yeats is obviously on his biological sister’s side too."

"Yet she’s the only one insisting on going against the whole family, acting as if she’s so capable."

"The Yeats family brags all day long about Claire being a design competition champion, but so what? Aside from that championship, what other achievements does she have? Estelle is the chairman and chief designer of Star, with multiple famous works to her name. What about her?"

"She’s been at it for half her life and her only claim to fame is still just that one ’championship’."

"Why must Old Mrs. Yeats push away such an outstanding granddaughter..."

"Hey, do you guys think Old Mrs. Yeats had anything to do with this?"

Old Mrs. Yeats’s face instantly stiffened.

Henry Kendrick raised an eyebrow. "Indeed, I’m curious too. Does Old Mrs. Yeats have anything to do with this?"

Old Mrs. Yeats gritted her teeth. "You..."

Henry shook his head and sighed. "It’s somewhat understandable that Third Mrs. Yeats doesn’t like Estelle. After all, before Estelle returned to the Yeats family, Claire was the most favored daughter. Now that Estelle is back, they’re naturally resentful.

"But as for you, Old Mrs. Yeats, I can’t quite figure out why you would do something like this. Estelle’s biological maternal grandfather died because of the Yeats family. Before his death, he handed the position of the Head of the Yeats over to Old Mr. Yeats, which is the only reason you became the madam of the family.

"He also entrusted Estelle’s mother, Eleanor Yeats, to Old Mr. Yeats and you.

"You took their wealth and status, enjoyed the Yeats family empire that he had fought to build, and yet you ’accidentally’ allowed Eleanor to go missing.

"You never found Eleanor, but over twenty years later, you found her daughter, Estelle. You’d think she would be brought home and properly cherished, right? But who knew that Old Mrs. Yeats would instead...

"Tell me, aren’t you just an ungrateful wretch?"

The way the bystanders looked at Old Mrs. Yeats gradually changed.

Not many people knew about the Yeats family’s past. After all, even if a wealthy and powerful family like theirs had secrets, they certainly wouldn’t air them out to the public. But the guilt that Old Mr. Yeats and Quentin Yeats felt toward Estelle was plainly obvious. Anyone with half a brain could figure out there had to be a reason behind it.

Yet here was Old Mrs. Yeats, devoid of any gratitude or guilt, actually trying to ruin Estelle. What right did someone like her have to be the madam of the Head of the Yeats?

Henry laughed again. "Young Mr. Yeats said this man was spouting nonsense and wanted him thrown out, yet you claimed he made sense and insisted on supporting him with your actions. You even chose to blindly believe this man’s words before there was any solid evidence. I’m quite curious, just how deep is your grudge against Estelle?"

In truth, Henry thought that Old Mrs. Yeats didn’t necessarily know about this setup beforehand, as the frame-up was far too stupid and amateurish. Old Mrs. Yeats wasn’t so brainless as to stoop to this level. But so what? Just taking down Third Mrs. Yeats wasn’t enough. No matter what, he was going to drag Old Mrs. Yeats down with her. Why was Estelle still treated so poorly after returning to the Yeats family? Wasn’t it all because of Old Mrs. Yeats meddling in the shadows? Whether it was Evan Yeats or Claire, the only reason they dared to act so unscrupulously was because they had her backing!

"You... You’re spouting absolute nonsense..." Old Mrs. Yeats clutched her chest, her body convulsing in fits. "I... I..."

"Grandma, are you alright?!" Claire immediately reacted, rushing over to support Old Mrs. Yeats. Tears welling in her anxious eyes, she pleaded, "Estelle, Grandma is in poor health. Can we talk about whatever issues we have in private? We’ll definitely apologize to you, but Grandma is old... You really don’t have to..."

Third Aunt Yeats also yelled, "Old Mrs. Yeats! Hurry, hurry, help her down to rest! Estelle, this is all my fault. But no matter how angry you are, you can’t deliberately infuriate your elders like this! If something happens to her, how are you going to explain it to Old Mr. Yeats?!"

Old Mrs. Yeats closed her eyes, looking as though she was about to faint at any second. However, her performance didn’t elicit an ounce of sympathy from anyone, and the guests were all snickering.

"This is hilarious... How ancient is this trick?"

"She uses such a stupid method to frame someone, and now that she’s exposed, she resorts to faking a fainting spell. This old woman is so unreasonable."

"If she were actually reasonable, she wouldn’t have helped Claire make things difficult for her own granddaughter. Wasn’t that incident at Seaview Tower a perfect example?"

"Today is Miss Lockwood’s birthday, too! Finding a man to frame her on her very own birthday—her malice is unforgivable!"

"Claire isn’t any better..."

"Why did Old Mr. Yeats ever marry her? His lifelong sterling reputation has been completely ruined..."

This setup was far too amateurish, and with Estelle presenting such irrefutable evidence, everyone just treated it as a laughingstock. As for Old Mrs. Yeats, she had initially just been faking it. But upon hearing the crowd’s discussions, she failed to catch her breath and actually ended up fainting for real.

She thought, "Estelle, just you wait!"

Estelle raised an eyebrow. Only after the eyesores had scrambled away did she lower her gaze to her phone.
