Chapter 503: Chapter 503: This Is Our Honored Guest

Zion Yeats noticed everyone around looking at them. Feeling utterly humiliated, his face flushed with heat. "Mother, let’s leave first."

"Leave? Why should we leave!"

Old Mrs. Yeats’s eyes were frantic and ferocious, her face twisted to the extreme. "Don’t let me see that little beast, otherwise I’m going to teach her a lesson today—"

Before she could finish her sentence, a figure slowly emerged from behind the crowd.

Old Mrs. Yeats’s voice suddenly pitched up. "Estelle Lockwood?!"

Nathaniel Sloan opened the car door for Estelle Lockwood. The two seemed to have exchanged a few words. Estelle raised her eyebrows and was just about to reply when she was abruptly interrupted by Old Mrs. Yeats’s angry shout.

Estelle paused and turned to look over.

That completely clueless look of hers infuriated Old Mrs. Yeats to no end. All the humiliation and embarrassment she had suffered today erupted at this moment. "You little bastard, get over here!"

Estelle shifted her gaze away as if she hadn’t heard a thing.

Nathaniel’s voice was icy. "If you can’t learn what respect is, Old Mrs. Yeats, then don’t come out and make a fool of yourself."

The bystanders subconsciously looked at them.

Even if Estelle had offended Veridian Retreat, did that give her grandmother the right to publicly curse her as a little bastard?

Zion’s face grew even redder. He mumbled, "Mother..."

Seeing that Old Mrs. Yeats was still full of anger, Zion looked at Estelle with an anxious expression. "Estelle, hurry up and come apologize to your grandmother. Don’t be so stubborn."

Estelle raised an eyebrow slightly, taking a meaningful look at her car before speaking. "If I remember correctly, I’ve only been here for a minute.

"In this one minute... how did I offend you again, Old Mrs. Yeats?"

The expressions of the onlookers grew even stranger.

Zion had demanded Miss Lockwood to apologize without even figuring out the situation. Moreover, judging by Miss Lockwood’s tone, it was obvious that Old Mrs. Yeats frequently blamed her without explanation; otherwise, she wouldn’t have used the word "again."

Zion felt his face burn under the scrutiny of the crowd. He said anxiously, "Estelle, you offended the boss of Veridian Retreat, didn’t you? Now Veridian Retreat is saying it’s the Yeats family..."

"Why are you talking to this little beast so nicely?!"

Old Mrs. Yeats was violent and ruthless, cursing loudly. "You offended Veridian Retreat and made our Yeats family lose face in the process, and you still think you’re in the right?!"

Zion chimed in, "Estelle, is there some misunderstanding? Go explain it to them. Now that we’re blocked outside and can’t get in, it won’t look good for your reputation either..."

Estelle’s smile deepened as she asked unhurriedly, "May I ask you two...

"What does you being blocked at the door by Veridian Retreat have to do with me?

"Why wouldn’t it look good for my reputation if you can’t get in?"

Estelle smoothed her hair. "I don’t know if I heard wrong just now, but I seemed to hear Old Mrs. Yeats say that the Yeats family wants to cut all ties with me. Coincidentally, I think the exact same way. Besides, I’ve told the Yeats family long ago that I have nothing to do with you. Since there are so many people here today, let’s have everyone serve as a witness.

"Since I have no relationship with the Yeats family, what does the Yeats family’s embarrassment... have to do with me?"

Zion looked heartbroken, as if he couldn’t figure out why his niece had turned out like this.

"Estelle! If you did something wrong, you should admit it. Now, not only do you refuse to admit it, but you’re also blaming us. You... how could you be like this?"

Old Mrs. Yeats seemed to gain confidence, speaking condescendingly. "How does it have nothing to do with you! They said someone from the Yeats family offended the boss of Veridian Retreat! We just arrived in Crestfall not long ago, and Claire is so innocent and kind. Other than a shameless little beast like you, who else could have offended the boss!"

"If I hear the word ’beast’ from Old Mrs. Yeats’s mouth again, Old Mr. Yeats, you can try and see what happens," Nathaniel interrupted coldly.

Old Mrs. Yeats was inexplicably frightened by his imposing manner. The fat on her face trembled, but she feigned composure. "It’s all Estelle’s fault anyway—"

"Miss Lockwood, Mr. Sloan, you’re here!"

Just then, a man who looked like a manager ran out from inside. He respectfully made a welcoming gesture and reached out to carry Estelle’s bag, smiling as he said, "Our boss saved the best seats for you two. By the way, will it be the usual menu? We heard that Miss Lockwood has recently taken a liking to ’Swan Prints in the Snow,’ so our boss specifically instructed the chef to prepare it for you."

After he spoke so respectfully, Estelle didn’t move. Only then did the manager realize that the atmosphere at the entrance seemed somewhat off.

He hesitated for two seconds. "Miss Lockwood, what’s wrong?"

The entire scene quieted down.

Old Mrs. Yeats instinctively felt something was wrong. Her eyes widened, and she screamed hoarsely, "Why are you treating this little beast—"

"It’s nothing. It’s just that Old Mrs. Yeats said I offended Veridian Retreat, which caused the Yeats family to be barred from entering." Estelle feigned distress. "I merely asked Old Mrs. Yeats if she had made a mistake, but she seems a bit agitated."

The manager immediately turned his head. "Old Mrs. Yeats, you’re saying that Miss Lockwood offended our Veridian Retreat, causing the Yeats family to be denied entry?"

Old Mrs. Yeats’s face turned beet red. Gritting her teeth, she shrieked furiously, "That’s how it is! Given the status of our Yeats family, if it wasn’t for her—"

"Since it was Miss Lockwood who offended Veridian Retreat," the manager asked calmly, "then why would I personally welcome Miss Lockwood inside?"

The manager smiled. "Don’t you think your logic is full of holes, Old Mrs. Yeats?"

A beat of silence passed.

The crowd was stunned.

Then, it suddenly dawned on them.

That’s right!

The Yeats family kept claiming that Estelle had relied on her identity as a member of the Yeats family to offend Veridian Retreat and refused to repent.

But now, the manager of Veridian Retreat had personally come out to invite Miss Lockwood inside, while it was these two from the Yeats family who were...

Estelle nodded, her gesture full of meaning. "Exactly. Does it make sense for Veridian Retreat not to hold a grudge against me, the main culprit, but instead bear a grudge against the Yeats family?"

The manager looked contemptuous. "So there’s only one possibility. The person who offended us was absolutely not Miss Lockwood! Miss Lockwood is our esteemed guest—how could she have offended us?"

He looked at Zion, casting aspersions. "Old Mr. Yeats might want to think for himself about who exactly offended us, so you don’t wrongly accuse an innocent person, and so you don’t embarrass yourself all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

"Also, Old Mr. Yeats should properly advise his mother. Coming out and throwing a tantrum under the title of Old Mrs. Yeats will only make the Yeats family a laughingstock."

Zion stood frozen in disbelief, his face flushed red.

The surrounding guests finally understood the whole sequence of events.

"So someone from the Yeats family offended Veridian Retreat themselves... Judging by the manager’s words, Old Mr. Yeats is actually aware of it."

"Wow, that’s truly shameless. It was clearly them who offended someone, but to avoid taking the blame, they actually dared to push Estelle out as a scapegoat?"

"If the manager hadn’t explained it clearly, Miss Lockwood would have suffered a great injustice!"

"So, could Old Mrs. Yeats’s fierce scolding of Miss Lockwood have been to cover up for the person who actually offended them?"

Old Mrs. Yeats nearly fainted from anger, screaming shrilly, "Nonsense!! Estelle, don’t think I’ll be fooled just because you found someone to put on an act!"
