Chapter 262: Chapter 261: Finding a Way

The next day, Gu Qingyin saw the follow-up to the previous night’s events on the news.

When the police broke down the door, they found a living room full of people high on drugs. Some were crying, some were screaming, and others had fainted. Those who could still speak were babbling incoherently about seeing ghosts.

The police immediately took the situation seriously and brought everyone in for testing. To their surprise, they did indeed catch a few addicts.

At the same time, the police also found numerous props for superstitious rituals in the villa, including, but not limited to, the two basins of chicken blood.

It’s worth mentioning that when they first turned on the lights, the floor by the entrance was covered in blood. The police thought a murder had occurred, which nearly led to a false alarm.

This incident quickly caused a major uproar online. Most of the party attendees were prominent individuals from various fields; otherwise, they wouldn’t have all been wearing masks.

Now that this was out in the open, their careers were at least half-ruined.

Lin Xiao was even expelled from Jing University over the incident and didn’t even get her diploma. After all her scheming, not only did she fail to keep her man, but her own life was now more or less in ruins.

On top of that, she was truly traumatized by the night’s events. Her mental state deteriorated, and she became timid, paranoid, and suspicious of everyone. At night, especially, the slightest sound could make her scream in a frenzy.

After two days in the hospital, the staff somehow managed to contact Zhou Jingchuan. He hadn’t intended to get involved, but given their history, he had his assistant take her to a sanitarium. After that, he washed his hands of the matter.

Without someone lurking in the shadows and watching her with predatory eyes, Gu Qingyin felt as if the very air had grown fresher.

After lunch, the family of three went together to visit Dongfang Lingjun, mainly to ask about how they could return to their own time.

Previously, Huo Xingchen and Huo Yunjing were able to cross over because they had the Huo Family and Master Huo as anchors, preventing them from getting lost in space-time. Furthermore, the method they used was akin to a fixed-point summoning.

But the members of the Huo Family back in their time are all ordinary people. Leaving aside the question of whether they could withstand the Spiritual Power conversion of the Array, it wasn’t even certain if the Array could be set up there again at all.

Therefore, Gu Qingyin wanted to construct a new Teleportation Array, targeted at the old Huo Family estate, to send them back the same way Huo Xingchen had been sent over.

Before they entered the estate, it suddenly dawned on Gu Qingyin. "Then why did you come over here? We could have just researched this on our own."

Huo Yunjing shot her a glance, his tone slightly reproachful. "The Array is not easy to create. If I hadn’t come, who knows how long it would take you to get back?"

Gu Qingyin blinked. She got it. Huo Yunjing didn’t want to be separated from her for too long.

She nonchalantly turned her head away, but she couldn’t stop the smile from spreading across her lips.

Dongfang Lingjun gave them a warm welcome. When he heard the reason for their visit, his expression grew a little more solemn. "This is indeed a major undertaking." He pondered for a moment but couldn’t come up with any brilliant ideas. "Our only option is to start by modifying the original Space-Time Array."

Just then, Dongfang Yuyao suddenly appeared. She greeted them with a smile and offered, "I can help. I’m an Array Spirit, after all, so my sensing abilities are still sharp. With me here, it will be easier to judge whether our ideas for modifying the Array are correct, which should save a lot of time."

Strength in numbers, as they say. Gu Qingyin, of course, wouldn’t refuse. She smiled and nodded. "Then we’ll have to trouble you."

Dongfang Yuyao’s smile widened. "It would be my honor." ’After being idle for so long, I finally have something to do!’

The hardest part of modifying an Array was finding the right approach. They could only do their best and leave the rest to fate.

"I’ll sort through some ancient texts over the next couple of days," Dongfang Lingjun instructed. "If you have time, you two should also go to the Heavenly Master Association. After all, their library is the most comprehensive." Only after he finished did he remember that the two of them didn’t even have credentials and couldn’t get into the Association.

"Just have Dayan or Master Huo take you. Or, if you don’t mind the trouble, you could take an assessment and get a temporary certificate."

Gu Qingyin raised an eyebrow. "There are temporary Heavenly Master Certificates?"

Dongfang Lingjun nodded. "They’ve always existed, but very few people ever have a need for them." He speculated, "I suppose there have probably been others in your situation before."

Gu Qingyin thought about it and felt it was reasonable. ’Surely we can’t be the first people in history to travel through time,’ she thought. ’That seems highly unlikely.’

Back at home, worried that a certain someone might get jealous, Gu Qingyin only contacted Zhang Qiuyan. They arranged to have her take them to the Heavenly Master Association the next day to go through the process.

The next day, Gu Qingyin first took Huo Xingchen to Sheng Wan’s place. Huo Yunjing didn’t go inside.

The main reason was that Sheng Wan had met Master Huo. His temperament was vastly different from Huo Yunjing’s, and since the two men looked identical, it would be difficult to explain.

Sheng Wan was very fond of Huo Xingchen. Plus, the boy was a sweet-talker who knew how to win people over. Sheng Wan would have no problem looking after him temporarily; she’d probably even let him stay long-term.

This time, she got lucky. Gu Qingyin didn’t run into the pest and was able to leave the Zhou Family’s house and get into Huo Yunjing’s car without any trouble.

They had arranged to meet Zhang Qiuyan at the entrance to the Heavenly Master Association, located beneath a section of the Wild Great Wall.

Gu Qingyin and Huo Yunjing arrived early. With nothing to do after parking the car, they decided to go for a short walk, hand in hand.

Unlike the restored sections, the Wild Great Wall was covered in the marks of time, giving it a palpable sense of history.

"Let’s take a picture," Gu Qingyin said, pulling out her phone. "We haven’t taken a photo together in so long."

Huo Yunjing’s heart skipped a beat. He obligingly bent down and tilted his head, but just as the shutter clicked, he couldn’t resist turning to look at Gu Qingyin.

The photo turned out beautifully, their intimacy obvious at a single glance.

Both of them were incredibly attractive, looking good from any angle. The sunlight was perfect, and Gu Qingyin’s smile was radiant. Although Huo Yunjing wasn’t looking at the camera, his gaze upon Gu Qingyin was exceptionally gentle and full of affection.

"It’s gorgeous!" With a few taps of her finger, Gu Qingyin set the photo as her phone’s wallpaper.

"Send it to me," Huo Yunjing prompted. ’He wanted the same wallpaper.’

After they had wandered for a little while, Zhang Qiuyan arrived. She used her Heavenly Master Certificate to open the association’s door, leading Huo Yunjing and Gu Qingyin inside.

"I’m not familiar with the assessment process for a temporary Heavenly Master, but since it’s just temporary, it probably won’t be too complicated," Zhang Qiuyan explained as they walked. "This is the headquarters of the Heavenly Master Association, so things get done a bit more efficiently here."

There weren’t many people at the Heavenly Master headquarters. It was mostly comprised of Heavenly Masters from all over the country who came to take care of business and then left, so it was rare to see an unfamiliar face. Thus, the trio of Gu Qingyin, Huo Yunjing, and Zhang Qiuyan was quite an intriguing sight.

Zhang Qiuyan’s deep feelings for Master Huo were an open secret, but the two had never appeared in public together before. Now, for their first appearance, he was accompanied by a strange woman—and from the looks of it, this woman was clearly much more intimate with "Master Huo"!

’What in the world is going on?’

All the way there, every Heavenly Master they encountered greeted Zhang Qiuyan and Huo Yunjing with a broad smile before stealing a subtle glance at Gu Qingyin.

Zhang Qiuyan wanted to explain, but on second thought, she realized it was a difficult situation to clarify. Besides, since the parties involved hadn’t said anything, it wasn’t her place to speak for them.

"They must have him mistaken for someone else," Zhang Qiuyan murmured.

Gu Qingyin smiled nonchalantly. "It’s fine. We probably won’t be seeing them again anyway."

Zhang Qiuyan realized that was true and said with a smile, "Let’s head straight to the president’s office."
