Chapter 1809: Chapter 464: Star Valley Sunset, Legacy of an Era (Part 3)
Ah Lü picked up the charcoal pen and began recording on the new beast skin scroll:
"I will improve this system, documenting each warrior’s trial results and combat performance, creating archives, and tracking growth."
As the meeting ended, a chilling atmosphere replaced the previously serene air, spreading throughout Star Valley.
The lights of civilization remained brilliant; the iron will needed to survive in this harsh world was being forged.
Tu Hu aimed to instill a combat spirit within the Downspirit Clan.
To make the Downspirits regard combat as essential for survival, not only erupting in times of crisis but integrating into daily life.
To have them respect strength, and hold death in greater reverence.
Through hunting trials, let every clan member truly feel the sensation of taking life, understanding the limits of strength, thereby in real battle, making the most effective choices without hesitation.
Next, hone their fangs annually in competition, continually releasing their wild nature within the rules.
The annual competition was seen by Tu Hu as a sharpener; clan members seeking honor must maintain training in daily life.
It allowed them to experience the pressure of life-and-death struggles in a controlled environment, learning to think amidst severe pain, and extracting nourishment from failure.
Then transform experience into heritage, etching scars into their genes.
Ensuring every lesson paid for in blood becomes a foundation for growth.
What Tu Hu sought was not a group of killing machines, but a race that internalizes combat will as a cornerstone of civilization.
They could build cities, farm lands, and delve into knowledge.
But when shadows fall and formidable enemies surround them, they can immediately shed the veneer of civilization and reveal formidable combat instincts.
In the future, this combat spirit will serve as a solid barrier for the brilliant civilization in a world of predators and prey.
This is not abandoning civilization; it is equipping civilization with fangs to survive in darkness.
In days to come, willpower tempering training becomes a regular part of life for the new generation of Downspirit Clan.
The trials of adulthood and annual competition tempered batches of sharp-eyed, agile new generation warriors.
When the Shadow Claw Tribe set another ambush in the Miasma Forest, they no longer faced opponents that could be easily disturbed by poison arrows and tricks.
Having just passed the adulthood trial, Blue Star led a team of peers on a reconnaissance mission.
They calmly identified the cleverly disguised traps, using improved metal nets and accurate spear throws to trap the ambushers of the Shadow Claw Tribe.
Mo Tong, meanwhile, analyzed the previously seized poison arrows and prepared antidotes in advance.
In this battle, the Downspirit Clan, with minimal cost, counter-killed most of the elite Shadow Claw Tribe members.
Ultimately, the Shadow Claw Tribe was thoroughly defeated by the main force personally led by Ah Lann.
This cunning tribe eventually became another stepping stone on the path of the Downspirit Clan’s rise, with their territory incorporated into the Downspirit Clan’s domain.
The series of victories caused confidence in Star Valley to soar to unprecedented heights.
The fires of workshops burned tirelessly, new mineral veins were continuously discovered, and the scrolls in the Archive Hall grew increasingly abundant.
All of this indicated that a powerful civilization was arising on this land, unstoppable.
Yet true destruction might come from fears beyond understanding.
Catastrophe descended at dusk, just as a storm was about to hit.
Animals raised in the valley began to restlessly shriek in distress.
Then, tremors reached the earth, bringing inexplicable heart palpitations to all Downspirits.
Tu Hu swiftly rushed out of the house and ascended to the city wall.
At his field of vision’s end was a moving steel jungle: the Rock Armor Clan.
They were tall, averaging over three meters high, covered entirely with thick Bone Armor.
After entering Star Valley, they marched forward with heavy steps, launching an irresistible charge.
Pits were filled with their bodies, snares snapped instantly against their solid Bone Armor, and falling stones left only shallow marks on their Shields.
"Fire arrows!" Ah Lann shouted furiously from atop the wall.
Dense metal arrows poured down like rain, but most could only spark against the opponent’s Bone Shields and Bone Armor, unable to penetrate.
Occasionally, arrows struck through gaps, causing very limited damage.
Boom!
Rock Armor Warriors used their massive bodies as battering rams, beginning to hammer at the city gates and walls.
The stone-built walls trembled violently under their relentless assaults, forming cracks.
The walls can’t be held.
Ah Lann turned back, glimpsing Tu Hu and Ah Fen organizing the evacuation of women and children through the rear secret passage, a resolute determination flashing in his eyes.
He swiftly raised the War Spear that had accompanied him for years, his voice cutting through the rain:
"Downspirit warriors, behind us is our home, our children. The walls may fall, but we cannot retreat!"
"For the future, charge with me!"
He was the first to leap down from the precarious city wall, followed by all Downspirit Clan warriors who could wield weapons.
They held no fear, shouting their clan’s battle cry, transforming into a torrent of resolve, actively charging toward the steel jungle.
This was a collision of flesh and steel.
The warriors’ metal spears struggled to find gaps in the Bone Armor, leaving white marks on the heavy Bone Armor.
A single Downspirit warrior often needed to pay the ultimate price of Life to barely drag a Rock Armor Warrior to the ground, allowing comrades to drive Short Blades into the relatively vulnerable joints or eye sockets.
Ah Lann was like a blue whirlwind, his War Spear precisely piercing through the throat joints of one Rock Armor Warrior after another.
Yet he was soon surrounded by several Rock Armor Warriors himself, their massive Bone Hammers crashing onto his Shoulder Armor, the crackling sound of bones breaking could be heard clearly.
