Chapter 1813: Chapter 465: The Journey of Migration, Changing Seas and Fields

The true transformation occurred under Mo Tong’s leadership in the close collaboration between the "Archive Hall" and the workshop.

With the in-depth study of the Dream Weaving Clan’s knowledge, they were no longer satisfied with forging metal, and began to refine the energy contained in minerals.

The initial attempts were accompanied by danger.

Several small-scale explosions left Mo Tong and other researchers with lingering fears.

But encouraged by Tu Hu, they chose to continue.

Eventually, they successfully and stably extracted a type of energy flow from a pale blue "Fluorite" that could emit a soft, cool light for a long time, applying it to nighttime illumination and partly replacing torches, enabling detailed night work.

Following this, by refining another mineral containing fiery energy, the "Fire Brilliance Crystal," they created a higher temperature and more stable energy Melting Furnace, greatly improving the efficiency and quality of metal smelting and tool forging.

This leap allowed the Downspirit Clan to shift from mere material use to energy mastery.

Although still in its infancy, the gears of civilization had already engaged, on the path to a new era.

The dawn of modernization shone into this once isolated valley for the first time.

The development of energy application technology accelerated the development of the Downspirit Clan.

Having stabilized basic lighting and industrial energy, Mo Tong’s team turned their attention to a broader domain: mobility.

Inspired by the concept of the "Constraint Energy Field" from the Dream Weaving Clan’s knowledge, combined with an in-depth understanding of fluorite’s energy traits, after numerous failures, they finally succeeded in constraining the gentle energy flow within specific Guiding Crystal Stone tracks.

The first experimental energy track was laid in the core region of New Star Valley.

When the simple transportation board embedded with Energy-guiding Crystal Stones silently hovered above the track under the eager and anxious gaze of craftsmen, and smoothly glided with the push of energy, the whole valley erupted in enthusiastic cheers.

The cumbersome wooden board carried the dream of a race breaking free from earthly bindings.

In a few years, the energy track network covering main thoroughfares was planned and laid.

Public floating capsules and cargo carts capable of carrying people and goods began traversing the cities, reducing journeys that originally took half a day to within fifteen minutes.

The innovation in travel methods significantly improved the efficiency of personnel movement, linking scattered satellite settlements into a more cohesive whole.

Meanwhile, the application of the Domain of energy began to extend into the field of weapons upgrade.

This time, the leader was Blue Star.

He believed that the prosperity and peace of New Star Valley must be protected by stronger Strength.

With Tu Hu’s support and Mo Tong’s cooperation, he and the Weapon Master of the workshop attempted to constrain and direct the frenzied energy of Fire Brilliance Crystal.

In the early stages, they attempted an energy attachment model, allowing the Sword to unleash a searing energy shockwave during strikes.

But, after practice, they found that attached energy weapons were inefficient and very dangerous.

The explosions produced by strikes easily affected themselves.

Later, they designed a "Blast Spearhead" capable of briefly storing and releasing Fire Brilliance Crystal energy in one go.

After being thrown, it could produce a small-range energy explosion.

The true breakthrough came with the emergence of a prototype portable energy transmitter.

It resembled a cumbersome metal barrel, requiring two warriors to collaborate—one carrying the energy core, the other responsible for aiming and firing.

Once activated, it could shoot out a highly unstable high-temperature energy beam, albeit with a short range and poor accuracy, needing long cooling after each shot; yet the instantaneous destructive power far exceeded any bow, crossbow, and throwing weapon.

The innovation in weaponry brought a significant boost in warfare power.

New Star Valley, a realm born out of wandering hope, advanced at a pace surpassing any previous era, toward a modern civilization driven by energy, filled with infinite possibilities.

Time passes.

When the energy track network of New Star Valley extended like Bloodline to every corner, at a tranquil dusk marking a new wave of prosperity for the clan.

Blue Star, the Downspirit leader who led the clan in establishing a new home, approached the end of his lifespan, his Life Fire flickering like a candle in the wind.

He lay in a stone house on a cliff, overlooking much of New Star Valley, his breath weak.

The blue scales once deep as night lost their former luster, marked by mottled traces of Time.

The diamond-shaped mark on his forehead faded, losing all shine.

Tu Hu gently pushed open the door and walked in.

Arriving at the bedside and looking at the elderly, withered body, he almost couldn’t reconcile it with the blue figure of memory, who was brimming with vigor by the bonfire and charging on the battlefield with fury.

Blue Star laboriously opened his cloudy eyes, his dry lips barely curving into an imperceptible arc, his voice hoarse:

"Uncle Tiger... you’ve come."

He gasped a few times, his gaze lingering momentarily on Tu Hu’s still youthful face:

"Uncle Tiger... you’re still... so young."

Tu Hu didn’t reply, sitting at the bedside and silently holding Blue Star’s calloused, wrinkled hand that was too weak to rise.

This hand, once firmly grasped the War Spear to lead the people, unwaveringly took up the heavy burden of protecting the clan.

"Is the track on the west side of the city... repaired?" Blue Star suddenly asked.

"It is," Tu Hu softly replied: "Yesterday the vehicle started running."

"That’s great." Blue Star’s eyes slightly curved:

"Mo Tong promised to show me the record of the vehicle inauguration ceremony... now it seems I won’t be able to see it."

His breath gradually quickened, his gaze slowly losing focus:

"Uncle Tiger, is the training ground built back then... still there?"

"It is," Tu Hu held his hand tight:

"The combat nursery you remodeled is right beside."

"The berries mother loved most..."

"Successfully transplanted, bore many this year."

Blue Star sighed with satisfaction, his voice so faint as to almost be inaudible:

"That’s good... everyone is still here..."

His pupils gradually dilated, using the last bit of strength to tighten his fingers:

"Uncle Tiger... did I do... okay?"

Tu Hu leaned forward, pressing his forehead against Blue Star’s cold forehead:

"You did very well, little Blue Star, New Star Valley is great, the clan is great too."

"Is it..." Blue Star’s eyes reflected a faint glow, as if receiving the highest praise:

"That’s good... Father, Mother... and Uncle Ah Lü... if they could see it... they’d be relieved too..."

Blue Star’s gaze gradually coated with a spreading gray-white layer, looking through the roof as if seeing distant past;

"Uncle Tiger... I seem to... see Star Valley again... see Father teaching me to practice spear... Mother smiling at me in the field..." his voice grew fainter, carrying a child’s yearning:

"So warm..."

Tu Hu tightly held his hand, feeling its life force rapidly drain away, his chest choked with countless words that eventually condensed into a heavy promise:

"Rest assured, the children and the clan... have me."

Upon hearing this, Blue Star struggled to lift his eyes and gave Tu Hu a glance, the diamond-shaped mark on his forehead briefly flickered before finally descending into silence.

The light in his eyes extinguished, yet his lips curled into a serene arc after relinquishing all burdens.

Tu Hu sat by the bed, lingering for a long time without leaving.

Outside the window, New Star Valley was ablaze with lights, energy tracks gleaming, vehicles gliding silently, brimming with vitality.

But inside this quiet stone house, the remnants of an era were gradually cooling.

Time never pauses for anyone.

In the second year after Blue Star’s departure, Mo Tong peacefully closed her eyes one snowy morning.

She passed away calmly, sitting at the wooden table in the Archive Hall that accompanied her for most of her life, in front of her the latest energy conduction map was laid out.

Beside her, a cup of Fruit Wine, with a personally improved formula, had a line written: A New Year’s gift for Uncle Tiger.

This Guardian who spent her life alongside knowledge finally passed away surrounded by knowledge.

She inherited the legacy of Ah Lü, perfected the memories of civilization, and handed it all unreservedly to the next generation.

Upon hearing the news, Tu Hu came to the Archive Hall, sat beside Mo Tong, held her hand, and kept her company for a long time.

Looking at the snow-covered roof outside the window, Tu Hu’s mind was awash with memories of the past.

Yet another child completed their journey before his eyes.

With Mo Tong’s passing, the second-generation leaders of the Downspirit Clan officially had their curtain drawn.

He remained the solitary Protector, witnessing the torch of civilization be passed down through generations, continually bidding farewell to familiar faces that gradually faded away with the years.

Green hills remain, but the travelers are fleeting, nothing more.
