Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 431 - 18: Bathing in Divine Blood
A few moments ago, the reversed Elemental Array flashed, its radiance illuminating the pitch-black night and striking the Deity from the sky.
Seconds later, a cyan-purple streak of light—far weaker than the previous heaven-piercing beam—shot up through the lingering afterglow. With unstoppable momentum, he crashed into the Giant Whale that had already fallen into the water, setting off a massive explosion and a thunderous roar.
—WRUUUU!!!
Before it could even recover from the fierce blow of the Elemental Array, the massive Water God suffered another grievous wound.
Amidst the churning waves, blue Spiritual Blood gushed out, scattering in all directions like a volcanic eruption. From the wound where the Giant Whale was struck, blood shot out under immense pressure. It defied the torrential rain, rising above the creature’s body to form a visible cloud of blood. All the people of Naisel City who were still watching this scene stared wide-eyed, utterly stunned.
The Water God Believers, who had already destroyed Mickelson Castle, had attacked, unleashing a cataclysmic flood and torrential rain that blanketed the world. Lord Su’s intervention seemed to slow the disaster, but the subsequent appearance of the massive Divine Whale instantly reversed the situation, making it even more critical. The aftershocks from the colossal waves it stirred up had nearly destroyed Naisel City alone.
But in the mere moments before they could despair, the Divine Whale, which seemed to hold dominion over the world, was grievously wounded by the beam from the Elemental Array and fell wailing into the lake.
And now, Su Zhou’s attack had caused a massive spray of blood to erupt.
The whale’s song, filled with pain and fury, still echoed through the sky, proving the creature was not dead and still had strength. However, anyone could tell that it was far weaker than it had been at first.
"Is this the true nature of the apocalypse?"
On the city wall, a City Guard slumped against a battlement. He gazed at the Divine Whale thrashing in the distant lake and couldn’t help but murmur, "Monsters from the Maze bursting to the surface to destroy our world?"
He was mistaking the Water God for a Monster from the Maze... but in a way, he wasn’t entirely wrong.
Because to the world of today, the Water God was, in fact, a Monster from the Maze—a Monster from a previous Era.
At this very moment, Su Zhou, who had turned his entire body into a rocket and slammed into the Water God’s body at full speed, felt as if he had crashed into a massive boulder.
The Deity’s body was immeasurably tougher than the very earth. The moment of impact, Su Zhou felt as if his own body would fly apart. Much like a bullet hitting a human body, as Su Zhou destroyed the Water God’s physical structure, his own flesh was damaged and deformed from the sheer force of the impact.
However, before transforming into a rocket and launching the assault, Su Zhou had placed a thick, ointment-like glob of No. 1 Holy Water and a piece of pale-green Jade Marrow in his mouth. The potent healing and Spiritual Power replenishment prevented him from blacking out from the immense pain of the impact. Instead, he forced himself to stay conscious and began to act without delay.
SQUELCH!
Surrounded by tough, pale-blue flesh, Su Zhou tensed his muscles to gather his strength. Without hesitation, after a brief pause to build power, he began to move as if swimming, using the Divine Blade in his hand and his Gale Armor as tools to carve his way deeper into the Water God’s body!
The Water God’s flesh was as hard as glacial ice. Runes seemed to shimmer on every piece of it. The flesh was smooth, resilient, and far tougher than metal. But with his Divine Blade, augmented by his Gale Armor, Su Zhou unleashed a destructive power far greater than the sum of its parts.
With a single slash, Su Zhou used all his might to cleave open the Divine Body blocking his path. The Gale swirling around the blade spun rapidly, acting like a chainsaw to shred chunks of flesh and carry them away.
Long ago, Su Zhou had used the powerful cutting force of his Gale Armor against a Demon Emperor who had attempted to engage him in close combat. Now, he was pushing the armor’s abilities to their absolute limit, turning it into a terrifying, close-quarters meat grinder.
The Divine Blade, wreathed in a cyan-purple Gale, was unstoppable. The phantom saw-teeth formed by the Gale Armor shredded the Water God’s flesh, kicking up clouds of bloody mist inside its body.
SQUELCH! SQUELCH!
Amidst the sound of tearing flesh, Su Zhou bored through the Water God’s body like a termite through wood. In a short time, he had carved out a long tunnel inside the creature, which was still reeling from the repeated, heavy blows and could not react.
By now, Su Zhou could feel the immense Spiritual Power contained within the flesh of the island-sized Giant Whale.
—Legend has it that bathing in Dragon Blood can make a person’s body impervious to any weapon and even grant them a long life.
This was no lie, but a verifiable fact. The blood of a powerful Spirit Beast contains an enormous amount of Spiritual Power. Bathing in it is essentially the same as subjecting one’s body to a high-grade immersion in a Magic Potion and refinement via a Secret Technique; naturally, one would gain additional power.
The Water God was, in essence, a divine Giant Whale—a Deity far more powerful than any ordinary Giant Dragon. And at this moment, Su Zhou was doing far more than just bathing in Divine Blood. He was immersed in the Divine Whale’s very flesh and blood! He could feel the frigid Spiritual Power within the surrounding pale-blue blood. A pure Water Spiritual Power, along with a chill intense enough to instantly freeze an ordinary human to death, began to seep through his skin, penetrating deep into his flesh and marrow.
